MBC’s upcoming drama “A Bona Fide Killer” has shared a sneak peek of its first episode!

Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “A Bona Fide Killer” is an action drama about a working mother with a lethal job who is fighting to protect her work-life balance. Kong Hyo Jin will star as Yu Bo Na, the seemingly ordinary manager of Sales Team 3 at Durumi Electronics, who is secretly the legendary sniper known as “Kingfisher.”

The newly released preview of tonight’s premiere shows Yu Bo Na returning to the office for her first day back at work after her maternity leave. Just as she settles in at her desk, Sales Team 3 leader Kim Bong Pal (Sung Dong Il) approaches her with an assignment.

“I’m sorry, since I know this is your first day back at work,” he begins, “but can you take on a client meeting today?”

As “clients” are code for the team’s criminal targets and “meetings” are code for the act of eliminating them, Yu Bo Na asks in surprise, “Today?” Kim Bong Pal replies, “Yes, today. I know it’s a lot to ask on your first day back, and I also know you aren’t the type to do anything half-heartedly. But the client is only available today.”

Kim Bong Pal goes on to reveal that all the preparations have been taken care of by Ki Young Do (Mu Jin Seong), who presents her with the case file. After looking over the file, an impressed Yu Bo Na praises Ki Young Do for his meticulous preparation, leading him to humbly respond that he learned it all from her.

Yu Bo Na then declares, “Let’s do it during the daytime.” Surprised, Kim Bong Pal asks, “During the daytime? Why? Based on the details of the meeting location and the client’s movements, do you think that doing it during the daytime would be best from a strategic standpoint?”

Catching everyone off guard, Yu Bo Na replies, “I have to pick up my kid. My husband is coming home late tonight.” After a moment of shock, Kim Bong Pal readily agrees by telling the rest of the team, “Let’s do it during the daytime.”

MBC’s upcoming drama “A Bona Fide Killer” has unveiled new stills ahead of its premiere!

“A Bona Fide Killer” is an action drama about a working mother with a lethal job who is fighting to protect her work-life balance. Kong Hyo Jin stars as Yu Bo Na, the seemingly ordinary manager of Sales Team 3 at Durumi Electronics, who is secretly the legendary sniper known as “Kingfisher.”

One still shows Yu Bo Na displaying the charisma of a professional killer during an intense workout at a training facility.

Another still captures her excitement on her first day back at work after returning as the manager of Sales Team 3 at Durumi Electronics.

Her extraordinary knife skills while preparing cabbage at her mother-in-law’s shop offer another glimpse of the one-shot, one-kill instinct hidden behind the daily life of a seemingly ordinary daughter-in-law.

Meanwhile, Durumi Electronics Sales Team 3 leader Kim Bong Pal (Sung Dong Il) welcomes ace Yu Bo Na’s return to work with genuine enthusiasm before proposing a brutal “client meeting.” As Kingfisher undergoes a realistic and humorous transformation after becoming a mother, the missions she takes on to eliminate criminals are set to unfold in an intriguing way.

In the drama, the world is thrown into an uproar after a shooting incident takes place in the heart of Seoul. Kwon Tae Sung (Jung Jun Won) freezes upon hearing the news that Kingfisher has returned. Having once worked as a reporter in charge of covering Kingfisher before suddenly stopping his coverage, he piques curiosity about his connection with the legendary sniper.

Meanwhile, Lee Dong Jin (Lee Sang Yi) discovers a bullet left at the crime scene and senses that Kingfisher has returned. Having experienced deep helplessness in the past due to the Kingfisher case, he begins investigating Kingfisher while putting the pride of a top detective in the violent crimes unit on the line. How will his relentless investigation become entangled with Yu Bo Na, and what kind of situations will it create?

“A Bona Fide Killer” is an action drama about a working mother with a lethal job who is fighting to protect her work-life balance. Kong Hyo Jin stars as Yu Bo Na, the seemingly ordinary manager of Sales Team 3 at Durumi Electronics, who is also secretly the legendary sniper known as “Kingfisher.”

The newly released teaser opens with Yu Bo Na’s calm remark, “Let’s do it during the day,” as she then coolly aims a sniper rifle from a rooftop. When her team leader Kim Bong Pal (Sung Dong Il) asks, “Is it strategically better to do it during the day?” Yu Bo Na casually replies, “No, it’s because I have to pick up my child,” creating a humorous contrast between her deadly profession and her everyday life as a mother.

The teaser then highlights Yu Bo Na’s fierce charisma as she sets out to eliminate a recently released criminal, accompanied by her ominous line, “May the happiest day of his life become the day of his funeral.”

However, the mood quickly shifts when a phone call from her mother-in-law sends Yu Bo Na rushing home. In stark contrast to her fearless assassin persona, she quietly bows her head as she endures the harsh scolding of her stern and abrasive mother-in-law Ok Sun Ja (Cha Mi Kyung).

Meanwhile, Kwon Tae Sung (Jung Jun Won) proves himself to be the model of a devoted husband. He affectionately embraces his wife and, when his domineering mother causes a scene by throwing food, he shields Yu Bo Na with his body. Standing up to his mother, he firmly declares, “She’s my precious wife. So please never treat my wife or my family carelessly again.”

At the same time, Tae Sung’s determination as a reporter adds another layer of tension. As he relentlessly investigates crime scenes, questioning whether each case is murder or merely an accident, he has earned the nickname “Kingfisher expert” for his relentless pursuit of the truth behind the legendary sniper Kingfisher. His investigation gradually brings him closer to uncovering the true identity of the person he loves most—his own wife.

Detective Lee Dong Jin (Lee Sang Yi) also springs into action after learning that Kingfisher has resurfaced. While reassuring his best friend Tae Sung, “I’ll protect your kind wife and adorable Yul,” he simultaneously vows, “Welcome back, Kingfisher,” as he relentlessly pursues the elusive sniper. Unaware that the criminal he is hunting is actually someone he has sworn to protect, Dong Jin closes in on Kingfisher, foreshadowing the tangled fate that awaits them.

The teaser ends by introducing a series of criminals Yu Bo Na has set her sights on. As her daughter Kwon Yul (Hwang Bom Yi) innocently asks, “Mom, what do you do for work?” Yu Bo Na quietly replies, “Something the world needs.”

Kong Hyo JIn has shared her thoughts on her upcoming drama “A Bona Fide Killer”!

Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “A Bona Fide Killer” is an action drama about a working mother with a lethal job who is fighting to protect her work-life balance. In what marks her first MBC drama in 15 years, Kong Hyo Jin stars as Yu Bo Na, the seemingly ordinary manager of Sales Team 3 at Durumi Electronics, who is also secretly the legendary sniper known as “Kingfisher.”

On the surface, Yu Bo Na is an ordinary married woman who takes care of her husband and daughter, but unbeknownst to others, she leads a double life as a cold-blooded killer who eliminates heinous criminals that have escaped justice. After returning to work following a three-year maternal leave, she resumes her dangerous double life.

Explaining why she chose to star in the drama, Kong Hyo Jin recalled, “I read the original webtoon first, and I found it intriguing. What I found most appealing was that even though it’s a ‘dark hero’ story, the focus is on her ordinary everyday life as a married woman, rather than her cases.”

Kong Hyo Jin went on to share that while preparing for the role, she focused on emphasizing the contrasting sides of Yu Bo Na. “As a married woman, Yu Bo Na is always friendly and never stops smiling,” said the actress. “But for killer Yu Bo Na, unlike the other characters I’ve played up until now, I prepared to play her as stoic and unflappable in any situation.”

When asked if there were any similarities between the character and her real-life personality, Kong Hyo Jin chose “flexibility.” She explained, “Yu Bo Na is a character who is able to handle any situation with flexibility, which is somewhat similar to the flexibility that I have built over the years while working as an actress.”

As for what she considers the most appealing aspect of the drama, Kong Hyo Jin chose “Yu Bo Na-style punishment.” “Yu Bo Na prioritizes the victims of crime over her own safety, and she delivers justice through actions instead of words,” said the actress. “When you hear about unbelievably shocking crimes on the news, doesn’t everyone think at some point that they’d like to personally step up and take action? I hope that through this drama, viewers will be able to enjoy that kind of vicarious thrill.”
