2026 SPOTV K-Pop Awards Announces Presenter Lineup

The 2026 SPOTV K-Pop Awards (SKA) has unveiled its star-studded lineup of presenters!

On August 14, the organizing committee announced that this year’s presenter lineup includes Kim Jae Won, Moon Sang Min, Bae Hyeon Seong, Lee Chae Min, Chae Seo An, Choi Ji Su, Bora, Cha Woo Min, Cho Han Gyul, and former professional baseball player Hwang Jae Gyun.

The 2026 SPOTV K-Pop Awards is a global K-pop awards ceremony jointly organized by SPOTV and global fandom platform BIGC. The winners will be determined through a combination of objective evaluations based on data from Circle Chart, South Korea’s official music chart, and global fan voting.

Jang Sung Kyu, Billlie’s Tsuki, and AND2BLE’s Han Yujin will host the show, which will be held on September 6 at KINTEX in Ilsan.

Kim Se Jeong, Bae Hyeon Seong, And Cho Han Gyul Confirmed For New Drama

Kim Se Jeong, Bae Hyeon Seong, and Cho Han Gyul are teaming up for the new drama “High School Queen” (literal title)!

On July 31, production company Studio Dragon announced, “Studio Dragon is embarking on the production of ‘High School Queen,’ a refreshing action romance that combines a fresh premise—‘a Joseon Queen consort teaching 21st-century villains a lesson’—with the exciting collaboration of Kim Se Jeong, Bae Hyeon Seong, and Cho Han Gyul.”

Based on a webtoon, “High School Queen” tells the story of Kim Chung Ha, the greatest warrior of Joseon and Queen consort, who wakes up 400 years later in the body of a high school student who is a victim of school bullying.

Kim Se Jeong takes on the role of Joseon Queen Kim Chung Ha. After waking up in the body of a high school student named Kim Da Jin, she begins to subdue the villains who have been running the school as they please, using both her royal dignity and her instincts as a warrior.

Kim Se Jeong shared her thoughts, saying, “I felt that this character contains all the diverse sides of the roles I’ve played so far, so I am preparing with both excitement and a sense of responsibility. As it is a project where the narrative of the characters and the thrills of each episode are significant, I am practicing hard, including acting and action stunts. I will do my absolute best until the end to provide great fun and emotion to viewers through the character of Chung Ha.”

Bae Hyeon Seong transforms into Seong Won Joo, the royal guard who adores Kim Chung Ha, and Seong Si Woo, the ace of the kendo club. Bae Hyeon Seong expressed his determination, stating, “The story itself, which blends everything from action to romance and fantasy, was interesting and fun. As it is a drama that crosses between the past and the present, I am looking forward to showing many different sides of myself. I will prepare diligently so that I can greet viewers with a great project.”

Cho Han Hyul plays the roles of Lee Nyeong, the absolute power and King of Joseon, and Lee Do Yoon, a mysterious transfer student. Cho Han Gyul said, “It is an honor and a joy to be part of such a great project as ‘High School Queen.’ I was so excited when I heard the news of my casting, and I am already looking forward to each day of filming. I will prepare hard to show viewers my best, so please show lots of anticipation and support.”

Director Yeon Sang Ho’s new film “Paradise Lost” has unveiled its first poster and teaser!

On July 21, film distributor CJ ENM released a poster and teaser video for “Paradise Lost,” a new project from director Yeon Sang Ho, who helmed the films “Colony,” “Train to Busan,” “Peninsula,” and “The Face” as well as the dramas “Revelations,” “Parasyte: The Grey,” and the “Hellbound” series.

“Paradise Lost” is a thriller that follows the story of a son, Sun Woo, who returns home after nine years of being missing. So Young, who had been soothing her pain by interacting with a childhood version of her son through an artificial intelligence (AI) program while he was gone, begins to feel uneasy around the “new” Sun Woo, leading to an uncomfortable cohabitation between mother and son.

Actress Kim Hyun Joo, who previously worked with Director Yeon Sang Ho in the “Hellbound” series, plays the mother, while Bae Hyeon Seong portrays her son, forming the emotional core of the story. The mystery begins when, nine years after the disappearance of a school camping-trip bus, Ryu So Young—a mother who lost her child in the incident—sees her child return, now suddenly all grown up.

The film has been officially invited to the Special Presentations section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, which will be held in Canada this September. Director Yeon Sang Ho previously visited Toronto last year when he was invited for his film “The Face.”

On July 9, the upcoming comedy film “The Taste of Prison” shared that they had officially begun filming on July 6. Along with the announcement, the production also unveiled script reading photos showcasing the cast’s lively chemistry.

“The Taste of Prison” is a heartwarming comedy about a celebrity chef who hits rock bottom overnight and finds herself working in a prison kitchen, where she teams up with inmates who create soul-stirring dishes using the most unexpected recipes and ingredients.

Park Ji Hwan plays Jung Bae, the leader of Cell No. 3, who constantly clashes with Jessica while surprising everyone with extraordinary dishes made from unconventional recipes and mysterious ingredients.

Jo Dong In plays Gi Chul, an economic offender with an enormous appetite, while Lee Sang Jin portrays Sung Yeol, Jessica’s longtime friend and the owner of the restaurant she once worked at. Lee Bong Ryun plays Soon Young, Jessica’s older sister, with whom she shares a complicated love-hate relationship.

“The Taste of Prison” (literal translation) is a comedy film that follows the cheerful culinary redemption story of a celebrity chef who falls from grace overnight and ends up reporting to work in a prison kitchen, alongside inmates who create soul-stirring dishes using unimaginable recipes and ingredients.

Lee Sun Bin will play Jessica, a celebrity chef who has followed only the traditional elite culinary path before suddenly finding herself relegated to a prison kitchen overnight.

Park Ji Hwan will play Jung Bae, a man who joins Jessica in bringing a wave of gourmet cuisine to an otherwise bleak prison. As the leader of Cell No. 3, he creates astonishing dishes using unheard-of recipes and mysterious ingredients. Constantly clashing with Jessica, he engages in a battle of pride and culinary skill.

Bae Hyeon Seong plays Su Hyeon, a newcomer in Cell No. 3 who emerges as the prison’s Gen Z chef thanks to his naturally gifted culinary skills and gentle nature that inspires others’ protective instincts. He is a somewhat bumbling yet deeply thoughtful young man.
