4 Emotional Moments In The Final Episodes Of “Dream To You”

“Dream to You,” the story that started with the innocent teenage love between Ju Yi Jae (Hyeri) and Woo Soo Bin (Hwang In Youp), turned into a whirlwind of dramatic plot twists throughout its run. But now, it is delivering the eagerly awaited happy ending, reaching the finale on a solid note, and giving us more than one unexpected emotional moment. Here are all the times this K-drama made us laugh and cry in its last episodes.

Warning: spoilers from episodes 11-12 ahead.

1. Ahn Soo Hee protecting Woo Soo Bin

Woo Soo Bin might contend in a match of who has the most horrible parents in K-dramaland; however, most unexpectedly, his biological mother, Ahn Soo Hee (Park Ji Young), finds a way to redeem herself. She steps down from the project while still keeping her investment, ensuring a way to protect Soo Bin’s role as a director in the movie. Admittedly, there’s no heartfelt reconciliation between mother and son, and it surely doesn’t erase the pain of her abandonment, but this first-ever act of kindness towards her son is the least she could do as an apology.

On the other hand, although Woo Soo Bin’s father stays true to his awful and despicable self until the very end, at least his adoptive mother finally gathers her courage to confront the horrible man and slams the divorce papers in his face, freeing herself from their abusive marriage. Though it doesn’t mean Soo Bin can change who his father is, having his mother happy and safe by his side seems enough to make him feel at peace. In the end, the male lead gets the exact family he always wanted.

2. Shim Yoo Geon reconciling with his father

Speaking of parents, a really unexpected moment is discovering that Shim Yoo Geon’s (Baek Sung Chul) father had been terminally ill since the very beginning. Sometimes there are hints about things like this, but probably the romance between Yoo Geon and Oh Ha Na (Lee Yul Eum) was too consuming to even notice. Either way, this plot twist is worth crying buckets. The moment Yoo Geon is about to reach his dream as an actor, he loses the one person he wanted to share his success with.

Luckily, he has good friends by his side to get through this bitter moment. Even in a situation like this, the whole forbidden romance seems secondary because he runs straight into Ha Na’s arms, leaving behind his hesitations and doubts to embrace his love for her. In the most tearful yet sensible homage, Yoo Geon is able to reconcile with his father, lets him see his first movie as a leading actor, and even introduces his beautiful girlfriend to his father. It is a bittersweet ending for them, but no less happy.

 3. Ju Yi Jae choosing her own dream

Once the camera stops rolling, the lights are off, and they shout the last “cut,” what seemed like the pinnacle of her dream turns into a burdensome and bittersweet wake up call for Ju Yi Jae. The opportunity to direct a movie beside the love of her life felt like a gift from heaven, but in reality, that was never her dream. If there’s something that stayed consistent throughout the show, it’s Yi Jae’s determination and passion for her craft, which is why it is no surprise when she decides to pass on Soo Bin’s offer to keep working together.

For some people, it might look dramatic that Yi Jae breaks up with Soo Bin before going abroad to study filmmaking. It’s not like long-distance relationships don’t exist. But her reasoning makes sense since she has never had the chance to really explore her dream as a grown-up, without the romanticized perspective of her teenage years. So, before giving her heart to a man, she is devoting it to herself and to her career. For any woman navigating the reality of professional and personal life, this couldn’t have been more relatable.

4. Woo Soo Bin and Ju Yi Jae reuniting again

Breakups are hard for everybody, but the perspective of Woo Soo Bin drowning himself in loneliness after Yi Jae goes abroad really tugs at the strings of your heart. In that sense, nobody can do a depressive character quite like Hwang In Youp. Luckily, this moment doesn’t last long, and in the blink of an eye, two years pass. There are even comedic moments in between, which show how life still goes on for everyone.

In contrast, their reunion becomes a total cinematic moment full of romance, but happiness doesn’t stop there for them. Apart from getting back together, Yi Jae also becomes an award-winning film director, and Soo Bin gets to enjoy the love he always wanted by her side. The best part is that they even show us a bit of their everyday life, proving that even when a dream is fulfilled, life will always give you new chances to keep on dreaming. That is probably the most meaningful lesson left by this drama.

ENA’s “Dream to You” is getting ready to say goodbye!

“Dream to You” is a romantic comedy about the reunion of genius film director Woo Soo Bin (Hwang In Youp), who returns after achieving his dreams, and reporter Ju Yi Jae (Girl’s Day’s Hyeri), who has forgotten her own.

With just two episodes left in its run, the drama has released new stills capturing the chemistry between its two pairs of leads.

Over the course of the drama, Woo Soo Bin and Ju Yi Jae have made viewers’ hearts flutter with their romantic story of “mutual salvation.” After their heartwarming first love came to a sudden end, the couple reunited after 15 long years and eventually found comfort in one another, healing each other’s wounds and helping each other rediscover long-lost dreams.

Meanwhile, Shim Yoo Geon (Baek Sung Chul) and Oh Ha Na (Lee Yul Eum) have also stolen viewers’ hearts with their youthful romance.

Although they have been trying hard to hide their feelings for one another, their relationship reached a turning point last week when Oh Ha Na tried to kiss Shim Yoo Geon off the film set.

2 Unserious And 2 Upsetting Moments In Episodes 9-10 Of “Dream To You”

Ahead of its final week, “Dream to You” is still giving viewers much to talk about. With just a couple of episodes left, every storyline is keeping us on the edge of our seats with many ups and downs. And while some moments are simply unserious, some others continue to be too upsetting. If you are hanging on to watch the ending of this story, here are some of the highlights from the latest episodes of this show!

Warning: spoilers from episodes 9-10 ahead.

UNSERIOUS: Woo Soo Bin being jealous of Yi Jae’s ex-boyfriend

After so many emotional hits in last week’s episodes, it was time for a much-needed break from so much drama, at least for the viewers. Although, not so much for Woo Soo Bin (Hwang In Youp), who has to deal with the unexpected appearance of Ju Yi Jae’s (Hyeri) ex-boyfriend, top actor Geum Seong Mu (special cameo by Lee Joo Ahn). Showing up on their movie set, dripping charisma, and determined to reignite the flames of their past, Seong Mu quickly turns into Soo Bin’s worst nightmare.

However, every time Woo Soo Bin shows his jealous side, it makes you laugh at his petty antics rather than stressing you out. Soo Bin finds the most ridiculous ways to vex his apparent rival with simple things like getting in their way while taking a picture or engaging in a silly one-on-one dodgeball game. But this never really escalates, nor does it affect his relationship with Yi Jae. She, on the other hand, handles the situation pretty maturely, setting her boundaries firmly. So, this moment stays as the comedy that has been missing from the show.

UNSERIOUS: Choi Sa Rang and Seo In Wook’s breakup

Every moment involving Choi Sa Rang (Lee Ji Min) and Seo In Wook (Lee Sang Yeob) has been utterly unserious throughout the show. However, the way they are wrapping up things between them tops it all. Firstly, Sa Rang runs away from In Wook, or more like runs from her feelings for him without even exchanging a single word. But they meet again while being shot dead, fictionally of course, since they end up acting as extras in Yi Jae’s movie.

Admittedly, both are mature enough to talk things out in the end and decide to stop seeing each other for good. The setting, however, is much too dramatic to take it seriously. The beautiful sunset, the slow motion of the scene, the melodramatic music – it all seems as if it were the tragic separation of star-crossed lovers rather than a couple who barely had any screen time other than their hookups. They definitely had some underutilized chemistry, but at least this final moment between them can make you laugh rather than cry.

UPSETTING: Ahn Soo Hee blowing up a scandal

Sadly, the funny moments are short-lived in this K-drama. Before long, another storm approaches to rain on the main couple’s parade, this time in the form of Ahn Soo Hee (Park Ji Young), Oh Ha Na (Lee Yul Eum), and Soo Bin’s mother. After it is revealed that she is his true birth mother, things quickly turn ugly for everybody. Now, the same public that once praised and admired them turns their backs on them. This is especially true for Ha Na, who not only discovers in the worst possible way that she is Soo Bin’s half-sister, but she also has to come to terms with the idea of her mother having a secret child.

The only silver lining on this messy situation is that both Ha Na and her mother have the chance to grow closer again. Not because Ahn Soo Hee suddenly becomes a better person, but because of the natural character development of Oh Ha Na. They have the chance to talk openly and have a heart-to-heart for the first time in their lives. And even Soo Bin and Shim Yoo Geon (Baek Sung Chul) join forces to make sure she doesn’t suffer that much.

UPSETTING: Ju Yi Jae and Woo Soo Bin trying to save their movie

Once the bomb about Soo Bin’s family explodes, he naturally has to step back from the project while Yi Jae steps up to keep the cameras rolling. For the first time, she has to prove her worth as a director on her own, without any backup. This is one of the things that was most appealing since the beginning of this K-drama. It shows how Yi Jae fights for her dreams with passion and a warm heart that draws everybody in with her sincerity and eagerness. She ends up bonding more strongly with her crew and keeps the spirits up for everybody.

However, the film industry is clearly not as forgiving as they wished, and despite their joint efforts, the backlash from the scandal is already too big. Despite Soo Bin coming forward and explaining everything in a shocking press conference, ultimately his investors demand that he pay the price for past mistakes that aren’t even his. So he only has two options: he either leaves the project or the movie gets cancelled entirely. With so much on the line and only a couple of episodes left, how much more intense will things turn out? Let’s find out soon!

4 Things In Episodes 7-8 Of “Dream To You” That Gave Us Mixed Feelings

“Dream to You” is easily turning into one of those K-dramas that you either love or hate, with very little middle ground. So far, the pace of the story and characters have made strong impressions among K-drama lovers, for better or for worse. And forget about mixing genres in a romantic comedy; they are straight up making a cocktail out of everything that is happening right now, a classic soap opera. So, it’s no surprise if some of these moments in the latest episodes of this show gave total mixed feelings.

Warning: spoilers from episodes 7-8 ahead.

1. Oh Ha Na and Shim Yoo Geon’s tragic love

Oh Ha Na (Lee Yul Eum) and Shim Yoo Geon (Baek Sung Chul) are definitely stealing the spotlight with their tragic yet intense relationship. After Yoo Geon accepts the offer from Ha Na’s mother, under the condition that he can never fall in love with her daughter, he has no other choice but to draw the line between them. But the more he tries to stay away from her, the more she keeps appearing in his life, especially after they end up starring in the same movie. That makes for the perfect excuse for them to let their repressed feelings loose. Their chemistry is so good; they are giving top-tier yearning even when they never even dated.

However, as much as their doomed romance gives us chills with excitement, the constant interference from Ha Na’s mother ruins things just as much. The lengths this evil woman is willing to go to not lose her control over her daughter are way too extreme. But she is right about trusting a contract more than any type of feeling or relationship, which is why she forces Ha Na to sign again with her company. With such a leash held tight on both Ha Na and Yoo Geon, it seems way too complicated that they will have their happily ever after, at least for now.

2. Choi Sa Rang and Seo In Wook’s impromptu meeting

Another couple who surprised us with their spicy chemistry and electric exchanges is the one of Choi Sa Rang (Lee Ji Min) and Seo In Wook (Lee Sang Yeob). After their exhilarating one-night stand and the chaotic way in which In Wook started to chase Sa Rang, to the point of even agreeing to be part of a reality show only to vex her, everyone was waiting for much more of them, only to get exactly nothing in these couple of episodes.

If they have about five full minutes of screen time, that is a lot to say. It is truly a shame that, having such an interesting couple with so much potential and so much rizz, they are getting relegated to appearing for just a couple of minutes without proper development in their story other than having the occasional rendezvous. At this point, you can wonder what exactly the purpose of their appearance in the show is.

3. Woo Soo Bin’s hidden family story

There’s one thing that nobody wants from this show, and that is having more of Woo Soo Bin’s (Hwang In Youp) crazy father. This man, who not only tormented and abused Soo Bin his whole childhood, still feels entitled to interfere with his son’s life and even crash half his house. But apparently it isn’t enough that this male lead has to live with the trauma of having such a monstrous father. Now we get to learn that Soo Bin is actually the love child of Oh Ha Na’s mother.

Of course, this turn of events makes you appreciate Woo Soo Bin’s resilience so much more and even be thankful that he actually had a real mother by his side to endure living in such a hellish household. But there’s got to be a limit to how much hardship a character can go through. Funnily enough, it seems that every single conflict showing up in these episodes comes out of these two horrible parents. What’s even funnier is that those affected by them are working on the same film, making it look more like they are in group therapy than in a filming crew.

4. Woo Soo Bin and Ju Yi Jae’s relationship

Luckily for Woo Soo Bin, he can always count on Ju Yi Jae (Girl’s Day’s Hyeri). Just like when they met in high school, she is there to be his support and his remedy. She doesn’t hesitate even for a second before defending Soo Bin in front of his father or when it comes to declaring her feelings. The moment they are together again, she says it loud and clear that Woo Soo Bin is exactly what she needs.

However, that same straightforwardness can be seen as a little too rushed for the pace of the story. Just one episode ago, they had given closure to their young first love so they could have the chance to discover a new version of themselves and focus on their dreams. And now, they are jumping into each other’s arms, which is totally worth watching, but it could come across as kind of confusing as well. Could it be that when you know, you just know it? Or is it a misstep on the writer’s part? We will figure it out next week on the upcoming episodes of “Dream to You”!

4 Messy Situations In Episodes 5-6 Of “Dream To You”

“Dream to You” is heading toward the end of its first half in a rollercoaster of emotions. While some moments were wildly hilarious, taking us into an easy comedy ride, some were so tumultuous that it could make you feel dizzy out of frustration. And yet, every second was worth it. Here are some of the moments that felt like a total mess, in a good and a bad way, in last week’s episodes!

Warning: spoilers from episodes 5-6 ahead.

1. Woo Soo Bin being abused by his father

Starting with the worst part, it was known that Woo Soo Bin (Hwang In Youp) grew up in an abusive environment, but watching him fall into his father’s heinous emotional torture once again is too much to bear. Despite the man not saying or doing anything specific, his mere presence is enough of a trigger to send Woo Soo Bin into a spiral of self-loathing. It’s even more so after he guilt-trips Soo Bin by revealing Ju Yi Jae’s (Hyeri) old accident.

Admittedly, Soo Bin doesn’t have any responsibility in Yi Jae’s accident, or even in his parents’ terrible marriage, but the psychological scars he carries in his heart are already too deep and make it feel like he does have something to do with it. In that sense, although he was the one who escaped from that situation, he remains trapped in his own nightmare of a life. Luckily, he has Yi Jae by his side, who gives him the comfort he needs, at least in that moment.

2. Choi Sa Rang and Seo In Wook’s one night stand

Before things turn too depressing, Choi Sa Rang (Lee Ji Min) and Seo In Wook (Lee Sang Yeob) save the day with their crazy shenanigans. Sa Rang is the type of supportive female character that charms you with her easygoing and straightforward personality. On the other hand, In Wook is the type of confident and smart man who doesn’t back away easily when facing a challenge. And that’s probably why this couple works so well. He may be wicked, but she is his perfect match.

And easy enough, sparks fly between them even when he rejects her the first time they meet. But by the second time, they end up spending a passionate night together. That’s where everything starts to get a little complicated. Despite In Wook looking like the type to solely do casual relationships, Sa Rang gives a master class in how to make a man obsess over you: you just have to dump him and block him right away. With a new challenge in sight, it is clear we have seen far from the end of them.

3. Oh Ha Na’s mother manipulating Shim Yoo Geon

As if having one terrible parent in this drama wasn’t enough, Oh Ha Na’s (Lee Yul Eum) mother enters the competition to see who could emotionally damage their child the most. After virtually making her daughter live her entire life as her puppet, the woman still refuses to let go of the control over the young actress, living vicariously in the spotlight through her. But after spending all her life as her mother’s puppet, Oh Ha Na is ready to call it quits and walk away from the industry entirely.

Finding a new source of courage in her friendship with Shim Yoo Geon (Baek Sung Chul), Ha Na is determined to find her way out. And that’s what makes her mother using Yoo Geon’s desire to succeed as an actor to bait Ha Na, and force her into staying under her company, even more despicable. Though this couple has a very cute chemistry and, so far, they’ve shown great potential, it looks like their journey is already heading directly to disaster. The evil mother-in-law trope is definitely ever-evolving.

4. Ju Yi Jae being ostracized from the film team

What easy comes, easy goes, but in Yi Jae’s case, nothing really comes easily. Despite successfully finishing the script for her debut film, her relationship with Woo Soo Bin definitely hits a hurdle that seems impossible to surpass, even more so when their film crew purposely ostracizes her, misjudging her for her background. In those moments, not even their mutual affection can become a bridge to overcome the distance between them.

However, this sort of impasse makes you realize that, as you grow, there are instances in which you must let go of some pieces of your life to keep growing and move forward. As painful as it may look for them, both Soo Bin and Yi Jae decide to let go of their unfinished past, finally giving closure to their bittersweet first love. Although it might not be the development that we expected, could this mean the start of something new for them? Let’s discover it in the upcoming episodes of “Dream to You”!

Hwang In Youp And Hyeri’s “Gyeongseong Love Song” Project Faces A Crisis In “Dream To You”

ENA’s “Dream to You” has shared new stills ahead of its upcoming episode!

“Dream to You” is a romantic comedy about the reunion of genius film director Woo Soo Bin (Hwang In Youp), who returns after achieving his dreams, and reporter Ju Yi Jae (Hyeri), who has forgotten her own.

Spoilers

In the previous episode, Woo Soo Bin learned that Ju Yi Jae had been left with severe aftereffects from a traffic accident 15 years earlier, leaving him overwhelmed with guilt.

Determined not to remain trapped by the wounds of her past, Ju Yi Jae asked Woo Soo Bin to help her pursue her dream once again. In response, Woo Soo Bin put aside his own feelings and told her he would remain by her side as a colleague so she could shine even brighter. Attention is now focused on what decision Woo Soo Bin will make next after choosing to hide his feelings and keep his distance for Ju Yi Jae’s sake.

In the newly released photos, Woo Soo Bin appears deep in thought during a meeting for the “Gyeongseong Love Song” project. His focused expression suggests he is trying to resolve a serious issue, while Ju Yi Jae watches him with concern, raising curiosity about what problem has arisen for the project they have been working so hard to prepare.

Another photo captures Woo Soo Bin engaged in a serious conversation with Shim Yoo Gun (Baek Sung Chul), a junior actor and longtime acquaintance from his childhood. Unlike his usual demeanor, Woo Soo Bin wears a sharp, stern expression, while Shim Yoo Gun appears visibly flustered, heightening the tension and hinting at a new conflict.

The stills also feature Ahn Soo Hee (Park Ji Young), who previously handed Shim Yoo Gun an exclusive contract. Seo In Wook (Lee Sang Yeob), who is typically composed and relaxed, appears unusually troubled. Their expressions heighten anticipation for what incident will unfold when all the characters come together.

The production team commented, “A new crisis will arise for the ‘Gyeongseong Love Song’ project,” adding, “Please look forward to seeing what choices Woo Soo Bin, who is trying to maintain clear boundaries for Ju Yi Jae’s sake, and Ju Yi Jae, who has begun chasing her dream again, will make.”

They continued, “As the project progresses, the relationship between the two will also grow deeper,” raising anticipation for the story ahead.

“Dream to You” airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. KST.

3 Sincere Moments Between Hyeri And Hwang In Youp In Episodes 3-4 Of “Dream To You”

Last week we finally met Joo Yi Jae (Girl’s Day’s Hyeri), a once enthusiastic young woman who lost her spark in the midst of a harsh reality, and Woo Soo Bin (Hwang In Youp), a successful film director who returns after years apart, wishing to mend the past. Though the show started on a rather sloppy note, things are taking a much clearer course this week, giving us the chance to better appreciate both the characters and the plot. Here are some moments where both main characters could be completely sincere with each other in the latest episodes of “Dream to You”!

Warning: spoilers from episodes 3-4 ahead.

1. Talking about their own struggles

Meeting your ex after 10 years while your life is falling apart is bad, but having your job depend on him is probably a hundred times worse. Sadly for Joo Yi Jae, beggars can’t be choosers, and she has no other choice but to go after Woo Soo Bin to talk him into starring in her show to avoid getting fired. On the other hand, he doesn’t miss the chance to clear the air between them.

Rather than playing to the emotionally avoidant cat and mouse, which can be a typical occurrence in rom-coms, they come forward with everything they have kept to themselves for almost a decade. Woo Soo Bin tells her about the physical abuse he suffered at his father’s hands and how he had no other choice but to accept his conditions to go abroad. Nonetheless, even though Yi Jae can understand his circumstances, she is brutally honest about her stance.

Understanding can’t change the past nor magically erase her pain, and that is quite fair too. Because at the end of the day, she still had to give up on her dreams, settle for a lousy job, and try to make the best out of her own reality, only to ultimately get fired. Admitting that truth in front of the person who once saw the best of her is heartbreaking, but it’s clearly, at the same time, a turning point for both of them.

2. Agreeing to work together again

Given the fact that Joo Yi Jae ends up with no job, no prospects, and a very juicy proposal in her hands, she agrees to work with Woo Soo Bin on his upcoming project: the film adaptation of the script they created as teenagers. But getting to work again in a field she used to ace after so many years doesn’t go as easily as it seems. In a very relatable way, we see her struggling to start working on the screenwriting, which can be hilarious for anyone who has ever worked or even tried to work on a writing project. The blank page can be ruthless sometimes, so it isn’t a surprise that she takes on a side gig again the moment she feels stuck in her new role.

Luckily, Woo Soo Bin is patience and understanding incarnate. He not only helps her get through her initial jitters, but also constantly encourages her to keep going despite her hesitation. In that sense, he is the perfect mentor for Yi Jae, and you can clearly see his intentions to make it a good experience for her. Even if that means carrying on his back the weight of the production costs for their project. Something we don’t always see is how complicated creating a film can be. But this male lead has a good friend and business partner in Seo In Wook (Lee Sang Yeob), a sly producer who is behind the scenes trying to get the funds for their movie, or so it seems so far.

3. Following their growing feelings

In these episodes, some scenes don’t make sense. They don’t really add anything to the plot, except, of course, swoon-worthy moments between each couple, even the supporting ones. Because there is no purpose on Yi Jae and Soo Bin absurdly shoving each other inside the shower and getting soaked; Oh Ha Na (Lee Yul Eum) and Shim Yoo Geon (Baek Sung Chul) riding on his motorcycle as if they were a newlywed couple running away; and even Seo In Wook and Choi Sa Rang (Lee Ji Min) crushing on each other at first sight.

Nonetheless, those are the most rom-com moments they’ve given us so far. That is, until Yi Jae and Soo Bin start to cohabitate to work on their script. And soon enough, the magic of this cliché but effective trope makes its wonders. Unable to control her overwhelming feelings, Yi Jae finally kisses Soo Bin. It took them 10 years, but this couple finally had their first kiss. However, as useful as spontaneous kisses might be for the romance, how many complications will this bring? Don’t miss any moment and tune in to “Dream to You” now!

3 Things We Loved & 2 Things We Didn’t About The Premiere Of “Dream To You”

Everyone has dreams of their own, especially when we are young, but that doesn’t mean all of them necessarily come true. During the most tender years of their lives, Joo Yi Jae (Girl’s Day’s Hyeri) and Woo Soo Bin (Hwang In Youp) have to learn this in a fateful way. ENA’s new romantic comedy, “Dream to You,” tells a story full of optimism, youth, and first love, but it also reveals the harsh realities of adulthood, regret, and heartbreak, ultimately portraying the complexity of life. Here are some things we loved and some things we didn’t about the premiere episodes of this K-drama!

Warning: spoilers from episodes 1-2 ahead.

LOVED: The slice-of-life vibe

In a small town outside Seoul with nothing but quietness and calm besides the blue sea, there is not much to do, except perhaps dreaming big. And no one does that better than Joo Yi Jae, a girl who stands out among other students for her cheerful personality and a strong desire to become a film director. On the other hand, Woo Soo Bin is a diligent and kind boy who has a set path in life, which has limited his own wishes. When they meet, it seems unlikely that they will become friends, but daily life ends up uniting their fates.

The easygoing and simple moments filled with nostalgia are so charming that it makes you smile from ear to ear throughout these first episodes. The bright colors, perky scenery, and slow pace give the perfect feeling for the late days of summer. Watching them walk side by side, simply enjoying their high school days as two normal kids without concerns, is the perfect setting to inspire some of the happiest memories and a truly unforgettable first love.

LOVED: The youthful romance

What starts as an uncharacteristic friendship between Joo Yi Jae and Woo Soo Bin soon becomes a budding romance. Though there’s not much tension between them from the beginning, there’s a special feeling of endearment as their relationship develops. It has the unique and unmistakable touch of young love. They also slowly bond over common interests and a shared dream.

As time passes and they start to work together on a story for a film that would open doors for their future, they become each other’s confidants and support. Despite there never being a proper declaration of love or even a kiss, whenever they are together, you can see the affection in their eyes. Nobody can deny that Soo Bin is Yi Jae’s number one admirer, while he turns into Yi Jae’s inspiration.

LOVED: The cinematographic set up

Since the story revolves around cinema, it is only natural that every scene in this show gives off that same vibe. From late ’90s romance scenarios to dynamic shots with action and zombies, there are glimpses of that industry here and there, making it entertaining to watch. But those elements not only make it visually interesting, but they also allow the show to open up to some of the subplots for the supporting couples.

While Yi Jae’s dream focuses on the job behind the camera, her good friend Shim Yoo Geon (Baek Sung Chul) struggles to become a successful actor after years of being a rookie actor. During one of his side gigs, he coincidentally meets top star Oh Ha Na (Lee Yul Eum). They also represent the two sides of the industry: whether you are at the very top or at the bottom, everyone has their own problems. Hopefully, this couple will add some more comic relief rather than a new issue to the show.

HATED: The disparity of circumstances

However, the merry-go-lucky vibe changes drastically once you watch the current circumstances both Woo Soo Bin and Joo Yi Jae live in. While Soo Bin has become an internationally acclaimed film director, Yi Jae is an ordinary broadcaster who struggles to make ends meet. Their worlds, which seemed not that distant at first, are now completely apart. That is, until Soo Bin unexpectedly shows up in front of Yi Jae after not seeing or knowing about each other for nearly 10 years.

Though it could be a heartfelt reunion between two old friends, the vibe doesn’t fit quite right. It isn’t only cliché, but also kind of frustrating watching the typical trope of the poor woman who has no choice but to bend to the rich and successful male lead’s whims. After finally achieving whatever he wants, Soo Bin returns as an alleged hero to turn Yi Jae’s life upside-down in hopes of working together again. But pushing his weight around her to get what he wants is hardly the most romantic story of all time.

HATED: The overflowing melodrama

For an allegedly romantic comedy, there aren’t many laughs or romance going on just yet. Of course, Hyeri’s well-known physical comedy and Hwang In Youp’s classic honey-dripping eyes are top-notch, but the story is too tragic to begin with. For starters, both main leads live under abusive and neglectful households. When they find a small sliver of happiness, they get separated, and Soo Bin gets basically exiled from South Korea. Later on, Yi Jae not only loses her chance to study for her dream career after an accident, but also loses her father and even ends up scarred forever.

In those terms, it seems difficult that love will bloom again. But given that they already started from friends to strangers, they can only go forward from here on out. They have the possibility to mend past mistakes, heal old wounds, and clear out all misunderstandings from when they were younger. However, it seems difficult that it will be easy to fix this messy beginning. In the meantime, we can only try to enjoy the surely chaotic journey they have ahead of them!
