BTS’s “ARIRANG” Becomes 1st Album By Korean Artist To Spend 9 Weeks In Top 10 Of Billboard 200

BTS’s “ARIRANG” has extended its own record on the Billboard 200!

On May 24 local time, Billboard announced that BTS’s latest album “ARIRANG” had ranked No. 10 in its ninth consecutive week on the Top 200 Albums chart, which ranks the most popular albums in the United States.

“ARIRANG” is now the first album by a Korean artist ever to spend nine weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. After debuting at No. 1 back in March, “ARIRANG” spent its first three weeks at the top of the chart and has held steady in the top 10 for every week since. 

According to Luminate (formerly Nielsen Music), “ARIRANG” earned a total of 42,000 equivalent album units during the week ending on May 21.

BTS’s “Heartbeat” is their latest music video to hit the 100 million mark!

On May 25 at approximately 8:06 a.m. KST, BTS’s music video for their 2019 song “Heartbeat” surpassed 100 million views on YouTube.

BTS first released “Heartbeat” as part of the soundtrack for their interactive game BTS WORLD on June 28, 2019 at 6 p.m. KST, meaning that it took the music video around six years, 10 months, and 26 days to reach the milestone.

Billboard has published its World Albums chart for the week ending on May 23!

CORTIS’s new EP “GREENGREEN” jumped to No. 1 on this week’s World Albums chart, in addition to becoming their first album to enter the top 10 of the Billboard 200. CORTIS’s debut EP “COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES” also held steady at No. 6 in its 36th week on the World Albums chart.

After debuting at No. 1 last week, ILLIT’s new mini album “MAMIHLAPINATAPAI” fell to No. 2 in its second week on the World Albums chart.

BTS landed a total of four albums on this week’s chart: “Proof” climbed back up to No. 3 in its 205th week on the chart, followed by “Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~” at No. 11 (in its 28th week), “Love Yourself: Tear” at No. 16 (in its 216th week), and “Love Yourself: Her” at No. 25 (in its 182nd week).

TXT’s latest mini album “7TH YEAR: A Moment of Stillness in the Thorns” stayed strong at No. 4 in its fifth week on the chart.

ENHYPEN’s latest mini album “THE SIN : VANISH” took No. 7 in its 17th week on the chart, while their 2024 album “ROMANCE : UNTOLD” climbed back up to No. 23 in its 96th week.

Stray Kids charted three albums this week: “DO IT” rose to No. 8 in its 25th week on the chart, with “KARMA” coming in at No. 19 (in its 38th week) and “ATE” holding steady at No. 22 (in its 95th week).

Meanwhile, NewJeans’ “Get Up” rounded out its 140th week on the chart at No. 15.

BABYMONSTER’s new mini album “CHOOM” debuted at No. 18 this week, while NMIXX’s new mini album “Heavy Serenade” entered the chart at No. 24.

May Advertisement Model Brand Reputation Rankings Announced

The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for advertisement models!

The rankings were determined through an analysis of consumer behavior, using big data collected from April 7 to May 7. The Korean Business Research Institute evaluated the participation, communication, media, and social values of popular advertisement models in order to calculate each star’s total brand reputation index for the month.

Byeon Woo Seok topped this month’s list after seeing a whopping 356.40 percent increase in his brand reputation index since April, bringing his total score to 3,762,141. High-ranking phrases in his keyword analysis included “Grand Prince Ian,” “Perfect Crown,” and “Jae Seok’s B&B Rules!”, while his highest-ranking related terms included “heart skip a beat,” “confess,” and “model.” Byeon Woo Seok’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 93.51 percent positive reactions.

Lim Young Woong took second place with a brand reputation index of 3,349,309, marking a 15.64 percent rise in his score since last month.

Soccer star Son Heung Min jumped to third place after seeing a 184.25 percent increase in his brand reputation index, bringing his total score to 3,067,512 for the month.

Park Ji Hoon came in at a close fourth with a brand reputation index of 2,831,202, marking a 49.25 percent increase in his score since April.

Finally, BTS rounded out the top five with a brand reputation index of 2,691,868 for May.

May Singer Brand Reputation Rankings Announced

The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for singers!

The rankings were determined through an analysis of singers’ media coverage, consumer participation, interaction, and community awareness indexes, using big data collected from April 23 to May 23.

BTS held onto their spot at the top of the list this month with a brand reputation index of 7,132,535 for May.

Lim Young Woong also maintained his position at second place with a brand reputation index of 6,390,625 for the month.

CORTIS shot to third place after seeing a 132.43 percent increase in their brand reputation index since April, bringing their total score to 4,313,084.

HANRORO took fourth place with a brand reputation index of 2,861,706, marking a 68.57 percent rise in her score since last month.

Finally, IVE came in at a close fifth with a brand reputation index of 2,739,078 for May.

Circle Chart (formerly known as Gaon Chart) has revealed its chart rankings for the week of May 3 to 9!

Album Chart

CORTIS swept the top two spots on this week’s physical album chart with their new EP “GREENGREEN.” The regular version of the EP debuted at No. 1, while the Weverse version charted separately at No. 2.

BABYMONSTER similarly claimed the next two spots on the chart with their new mini album “CHOOM.” The regular version of the mini album debuted at No. 3, and the Nemo version charted separately at No. 4.

Finally, NAZE’s self-titled debut mini album entered the chart at No. 5.

BTS will be appearing at the 2026 American Music Awards (AMAs)!

On May 20, the American Music Awards officially announced that BTS would be making a special live appearance at this year’s ceremony.

The group is nominated for three awards this year: Artist of the Year, Song of the Summer (for their latest hit “SWIM”), and Best Male K-Pop Artist.

The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community awareness indexes of 1,730 idols, using big data collected from April 20 to May 20.

BTS’s Jimin topped this month’s list with a brand reputation index of 8,298,417. High-ranking phrases in his keyword analysis included “ARMY,” “black leather,” and “blond hair,” while his highest-ranking related terms included “powerful,” “explosive,” and “glamorous.” Jimin’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 93.02 percent positive reactions.

IVE’s Jang Won Young took second place with a brand reputation index of 7,186,672, marking a 0.35 percent increase in her score since April.

BTS’s Jungkook came in at a close third with a brand reputation index of 7,153,623, while his bandmate V ranked fourth with a score of 6,618,231.

Finally, Wanna One’s Park Ji Hoon rounded out the top five with a brand reputation index of 6,431,546.

BTS And BLACKPINK Earn RIAJ Platinum Certifications For Streaming In Japan

The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!

In 2020, the RIAJ implemented a new certification system for online streaming of songs, as an addition to its pre-existing certification systems for physical album shipments and digital download sales. According to the new system, songs are certified silver once they reach 30 million streams, gold at 50 million streams, and platinum at 100 million streams.

This month, both BTS’s 2018 Japanese song “Let Go” and the Japanese version of BLACKPINK’s 2017 hit “As If It’s Your Last” were officially certified platinum after surpassing 100 million streams each in Japan.

On May 17 local time, Billboard announced that BTS’s latest album “ARIRANG” was now spending its eighth consecutive week on the Top 200 Albums chart, which ranks the most popular albums in the United States, at No. 8.

“ARIRANG,” which initially debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 back in March, is the first album by a Korean artist ever to spend eight weeks in the top 10.

According to Luminate (formerly Nielsen Music), “ARIRANG” earned a total of 44,000 equivalent album units during the week ending on May 14.
