3 Things We Liked & 1 Thing We Hated About The Finale Of “My Bias, My Boss”

“My Bias, My Boss” is finally over, and it has left a very Kang Ha Gi (Kang Hoon) and Nam Da Reum-shaped (Kim Hye Jun) void in viewers’ hearts. After weeks of watching their relationship unfold through misunderstandings, workplace chaos, and more than a few emotional twists, saying goodbye to these two is definitely not easy. But if there’s one thing the finale got right, it’s giving us an ending that is both satisfying and surprisingly heartfelt.

From long-awaited reunions to finally uncovering APPELLO’s mysterious spy, the final episodes packed plenty of memorable moments. Here are three things we loved and one thing we weren’t quite as fond of.

Warning: spoilers ahead!

Liked: Nam Da Reum taking a stand for herself

3 Things We Liked & 1 Thing We Hated About The Finale Of “My Bias, My Boss”插图

At the beginning of episode 11 of “My Bias, My Boss,” Nam Da Reum breaks up with Kang Ha Gi. And as a Kang Ha Gi x Nam Da Reum shipper, no one wanted to see their OTP fall apart just two episodes before the climax. However, the breakup scene between Nam Da Reum and Kang Ha Gi serves a bigger purpose than simply introducing one last obstacle for the main characters to overcome; it shows that Nam Da Reum is growing as a person and is finally giving herself the respect she deserves.

When our female lead was in her Lee Chan (Cha Woo Min) dating era, she unfortunately did not feel comfortable enough to speak her mind. But with Kang Ha Gi’s supportive words, she was finally able to say no to Lee Chan and end their relationship. So, while the audience knows that Kang Ha Gi was not at fault, it was great to see Nam Da Reum stick to the lessons she had learned about self-respect even when it came to the man she loved. Because it is always harder to break up and take a stand for yourself when it involves someone you actually love and cannot imagine living without.

Disliked: Lee Chan’s and Jeong Yeon’s redemption

To each their own, but if the creators wanted to give Lee Chan and Jeong Yeon (Yeonwoo) proper redemption arcs, there should have been more time spent showing their growth, and their redemption should not have happened so immediately.

For the past few episodes, Lee Chan and Jeong Yeon have been trying to drive a wedge between Kang Ha Gi and Nam Da Reum. The entire situation began when Lee Chan approached Jeong Yeon with a proposal: he would help her get closer to Kang Ha Gi in exchange for her helping him break up Kang Ha Gi and Nam Da Reum.

In Lee Chan’s case, he is at least shown to be uncomfortable with how Jeong Yeon was becoming more intense in her pursuit of Kang Ha Gi. But again, that is exactly why Lee Chan contacted her and gave her access to Kang Ha Gi in the first place: to ruin his relationship. However, after he sees Jeong Yeon pretending to kiss Kang Ha Gi and realizes that her actions have ended up hurting Nam Da Reum, he finally realizes that what he did was wrong, as if he did not expect the most obvious result of his own plan.

And after he confesses his ill intentions to Kang Ha Gi, Kang Ha Gi tells him that the breakup was not Lee Chan’s fault. How come? Kang Ha Gi’s self-loathing is understandable, but this situation was very much catalyzed by Lee Chan and Jeong Yeon, and seeing him getting away so easily is rather unsatisfying.

And Jeong Yeon literally tried to break up Kang Ha Gi and Nam Da Reum, but for some reason, Da Reum ends up befriending her. Yes, they have to work together, so it would be unrealistic to expect full-on revenge, but was Nam Da Reum fangirling over HAN and Jeong Yeon really necessary?

Liked: Uncovering the spy at APPELLO

One of the big, if not the biggest, mysteries surrounding “My Bias, My Boss” since the very beginning was the identity of the spy at APPELLO. In the early episodes, the spy storyline was used to create interactions between Nam Da Reum and Kang Ha Gi, with Ha Gi convinced that Da Reum was selling their business secrets to SE Trading. However, after he realizes that Nam Da Reum is innocent, the spy plotline is put on hold. Until now.

In the recent episodes, when HAN gives both APPELLO and SE Trading the task of identifying HAN’s customer base in exchange for exclusive distribution rights, APPELLO’s presentation materials keep getting stolen by SE Trading. And suddenly, the question of the spy resurfaces.

What the audience particularly liked about how this arc was handled is that the spy ultimately turned out to not be an insignificant employee whose betrayal would have little impact on Kang Ha Gi. Instead, it was one of the men he trusted the most, Choi Seong Uk (Heo Jun Seok). Plus, giving him an actual reason, his insecurity and resentment toward Kang Ha Gi, for going rogue makes much more sense than having some random employee become a spy for a little extra cash.

Liked: the D.N.X reunion we did not know we needed

A D.N.X reunion was definitely not something that would have made it onto viewers’ must-happen-in-the-finale lists when “My Bias, My Boss” first began. However, after the recent episodes revealed the heartbreaking reason behind the group’s disbandment, viewers quickly found themselves rooting for the members to reunite. So, seeing that reunion finally happen in the finale was an unexpectedly beautiful moment.

What made the scene even more emotional was Roy’s (Chun Woo Jin) presence. Despite only getting to know him over the course of a few episodes, Roy quickly became one of those characters who effortlessly found a way into viewers’ hearts. Although he was only a side character, his entire arc, combined with the Chun Woo Jin’s heartfelt performance, was enough to bring many viewers to tears. Roy is a beautifully written and wonderfully executed character, and his presence made the finale of “My Bias, My Boss” all the more memorable.

Another sweet detail woven into the entire D.N.X arc was Nam Da Reum being the one to work on the D.N.X x APPELLO collaboration for their reunion concert merchandise; a dream-come-true scenario for any K-pop fan. Seeing her contribute to the reunion of a group she had admired for so long was already special, but the finale took it a step further by having the star emblem that had helped Da Reum through some of her toughest moments appear on D.N.X’s concert outfits. Talk about a full-circle moment!

And just like that, “My Bias, My Boss” has come to an end. While the finale may have had a few questionable redemption arcs and story choices, it ultimately delivered the emotional moments we had been waiting for. Saying goodbye to Kang Ha Gi and Nam Da Reum is bittersweet, but at least we can leave them with full hearts.

4 Times Episodes 9-10 Of “My Bias, My Boss” Shocked Us

Last week’s episodes of “My Bias, My Boss” shocked us in more ways than one. From Nam Da Reum (Kim Hye Jun) and Kang Ha Gi’s (Kang Hoon) surprisingly failed attempt to keep their relationship a secret to Lee Chan’s (Cha Woo Min) shocking turn toward the dark side and Roy’s (Chun Woo Jin) heartbreaking backstory, these two episodes delivered plenty of unexpected twists and emotional moments.

Here are four moments from last week’s episodes that left viewers completely shocked.

Warning: spoilers ahead!

They knew it all along

At the end of episode 8, Kang Ha Gi and Nam Da Reum share a proper kiss and officially begin their romantic relationship. However, when episode 9 begins, it brings a tiny problem along with it. Kang Ha Gi is the CEO of APPELLO, while Nam Da Reum, though extremely hardworking, is an employee. Dating your boss while you’re a regular employee can easily be seen as unprofessional, ruin your career, and turn the company’s image into dust. So, Nam Da Reum and Kang Ha Gi come up with a plan to keep their relationship completely secret from everyone at the office. And it works… or at least, our pair thinks it does.

Throughout episode 9, Nam Da Reum and Kang Ha Gi steal secret kisses in the storage room, hold hands in the elevator, and exchange lovey-dovey looks. But, of course, “secret” is the keyword here. The audience also thinks their plan is working until the post-credit scene starts playing, and… some of their team members knew about their secret relationship all along!

And does it not make total sense? How can someone hold hands in an elevator full of people and not expect anyone to notice? Or how can someone kiss in an unlocked, wide-open storage room and not anticipate getting caught? Good thing the staff at APPELLO are chill, or it would have been a #HagiReumOverParty by now.

When “as long as Nam Da Reum smiles” was NOT enough for Lee Chan

Usually, with love-triangle K-dramas, viewers fall in love with the second lead, resulting in the dreaded second-lead syndrome. So, when “My Bias, My Boss” started, the majority of viewers were expecting a similar reaction to happen. But that couldn’t be farther from what actually happened. Instead, many viewers are hating Lee Chan, and who can blame them?

For the past few episodes, Lee Chan has been trying to get between Nam Da Reum and Kang Ha Gi. At first, his actions could be attributed to his desire to be with Nam Da Reum, but what he does in last week’s episodes is pure evil.

In episode 9, Lee Chan says that as long as Nam Da Reum is smiling, that’s enough for him. However, when he sees her smiling with Kang Ha Gi, Lee Chan’s demeanor changes entirely. Around the same time, he also accidentally meets Han Jeong Yeon (Yeonwoo), Kang Ha Gi’s ex-girlfriend and Lee Chan’s first love. Suddenly, all of the “as long as Nam Da Reum is happy” talk goes out the window, and Lee Chan starts planning Kang Ha Gi’s breakup with Han Jeong Yeon.

There is a limit to what a character can do under the guise of “jealousy” or “insecurity.” Lee Chan crossed that limit and has turned into a person who even the in-story D.N.X fans probably wouldn’t be able to stan anymore. However, good thing this character development has let us watch Cha Woo Min act like a villain once again, something he is an expert at!

Kang Ha Gi’s ex is public enemy No. 2

Since Lee Chan is now public enemy No. 1, the title of public enemy No. 2 can easily go to Kang Ha Gi’s ex, Han Jeong Yeon.

15 years ago, she and Lee Chan were the ones who grew close before she started falling for Kang Ha Gi. But no matter how much Lee Chan hates this, that part is not Han Jeong Yeon’s fault. Just because you grow close to someone and they help you through depression doesn’t mean you owe them romantic feelings.

However, 15 years later, now that she is back and Kang Ha Gi is in a completely different era of his life with a different woman whom he loves, she agrees to Lee Chan’s plan to shake up his life.

From all the information we’ve been given, Kang Ha Gi did not do Han Jeong Yeon any wrong. She was the one who hid how close she was with Lee Chan from Kang Ha Gi and started dating him. She was also the one who left for the States after Lee Chan joined the idol trainee program. So, what exactly gives her the right to act selfishly and ruin Kang Ha Gi’s life?

The reason why D.N.X broke up

This last moment is emotionally shocking and comes completely out of nowhere, but it definitely adds an emotional layer to the injustice people can face simply for being who they are.

One of the smaller mysteries surrounding D.N.X’s history since the beginning was the reason behind the group’s disbandment. Viewers didn’t get to learn what actually broke up the group until episode 10, and the reality is more shocking than we could have ever anticipated.

Basically, it turns out that the reason D.N.X broke up was because photos of Roy, one of the D.N.X members, with his boyfriend were leaked. Idols dating is already a controversial topic and can often lead to members withdrawing from groups in real life, but Roy being with a man caused an even bigger controversy that ultimately led to D.N.X’s demise.

What’s particularly beautiful is that Lee Seul A (Kim Ah Young), Nam Da Reum’s friend and a Roy-biased fan, finally gets to meet Roy, who now works as a deliveryman. She tells him that he no longer has to hide his true self and that there are many fans like her who accept him for who he is.

For those who haven’t watched the final episodes of “My Bias, My Boss” yet, there’s still so much left to find out. How will Kang Ha Gi and Nam Da Reum resolve their misunderstanding and find their way back to their lovey-dovey selves? And, of course, the biggest question remains: who is the spy from SE Trading hiding within APPELLO?

Cha Woo Min, CIX’s Hyunsuk, EPEX’s Baekseung, And More Transform Into Fictional Idol Group In “My Bias, My Boss”

tvN’s upcoming drama “My Bias, My Boss” has released new “concept photos” of its fictional idol group D.N.X!

Based on a webtoon, “My Bias, My Boss” tells the story of the romance between Nam Da Reum (Kim Hye Joon), who joins a company to meet her longtime idol bias Lee Chan (Cha Woo Min), and the company’s CEO Kang Ha Gi (Kang Hoon).

A devoted fan of D.N.X member Lee Chan for the past 12 years, Nam Da Reum joins Apello, the company founded by Lee Chan and Kang Ha Gi, hoping to fulfill her dream of becoming a successful fan by working alongside her favorite idol. After joining the company, she finds herself caught between Lee Chan and CEO Kang Ha Gi.

D.N.X, short for “Destiny Never X,” is a five-member idol group that rose to fame shortly after its debut. The group consists of visual member Lee Chan, youngest member Roy (Chun Woo Jin), leader Hyuk (CIX’s Hyunsuk), main vocal Tae Oh (EPEX’s Baekseung), and rapper Jinu (Jung Hyun Min).

D.N.X debuted in 2015 and became known for its refreshing image, strong vocals, and powerful performances. However, the group has been unable to make a comeback for undisclosed reasons. As Lee Chan was the group’s most popular member during its peak, fans continue to look forward to D.N.X’s return, remembering not only their music and performances but also the members’ chemistry.

The newly released concept photos capture the group’s diverse charms, recalling the idol image that once won over countless fans.
