“The Assassin(s)” Cancels All Scheduled Events At 2026 Busan International Film Festival
“The Assassin(s)” will no longer attend its scheduled events at the Busan International Film Festival.
On October 2, Hive Media Corp., the production company behind the film, announced that it had canceled the film’s planned Busan International Film Festival appearances.
Below is its official statement:
Hello, this is Hive Media Corp., the production company behind “The Assassin(s).”
After careful consideration and taking into account the safety of audiences and attendees, we have decided not to participate in the Busan International Film Festival Opening Ceremony or the Outdoor Stage Greeting scheduled for October 7.
After carefully reviewing the current situation surrounding the film, we made this decision to ensure everyone’s safety and allow the event to proceed smoothly. We sincerely apologize to everyone who has been looking forward to these events, and deeply appreciate your understanding.
The outdoor stage greeting for “The Assassin(s)” was originally scheduled to be attended by director Hur Jin Ho and actors Yoo Hae Jin, Park Hae Il, and Lee Min Ho.
“The Assassin(s)” follows an investigation into the mystery and forces behind the 1974 assassination attempt that shocked South Korea.
Since its release on September 23, the film has faced controversy over allegations of historical distortion surrounding certain elements of the story.
Amid the controversy, Lee Min Ho’s “Actors House” event at the 31st Busan International Film Festival, originally scheduled for October 7, was also canceled. As a result, all official Busan International Film Festival events related to “The Assassin(s)” have now been called off.
The 31st Busan International Film Festival will kick off on October 6 and run for 10 days through October 15.

3 Unexpected Events That Shook Things Up In The Finale Of “The Affair Was Just The Beginning”
Chaos has completely overtaken and turned the lives of Kyung Hee (Kim Hye Soo), Jae Hong (Kim Ji Hun), Soo Jung (Cho Yeo Jeong), and Bo Sung(Kim Jae Chul) upside down in “The Affair Was Just the Beginning.” Their daughters Ye Ji and Min Seo caught their parents in compromising positions, and the noose is getting tightened as the missing detective Na Sol’s brother Na Do (Park Ryang Woo)… is hot on the heels of the two teens.
Adding another twist to the already complicated scenario is divorce lawyer Choi Sang Chul (Lee Dom Seok) who white trying to retrieve his phone comes across more damning evidence. So each one tries to save themselves and push the blame on to the other, things are utterly complicated and humorous.
Spoilers below
When the parents got caught by the kids
Ye Ji has seen the video of her father and Min Seo’s mother, while Min Seo has seen her father and Ye Ji’s mother together. The parents, equally shocked that they have been caught by their children, are equally embarrassed and panic-stricken, since the situation demands answers.
So as Kyung Hee and Bo Sung try to placate Min Seo, telling her it wasn’t as it seemed. Ye Ji, still in shock after witnessing the video, tells Min Seo she got it wrong. But the one equally shocked, if not more, is Jae Hong. He cannot believe Kyung Hee would cheat on him and is equally shocked that the man in question is Soo Jung’s husband. A classic case of don’t get mad, get even.
What follows is a hilarious blame game. Jae Hong, who is a pushover, is appalled at how his wife could hurt him like this and turns against Soo Jung, saying it was never love between them ever. The man never stands up for his actions and excels at passing the buck. On the other hand, Kyung Hee’s pent-up rage and frustration at keeping up with her curated family image crash to the surface. She is tired of portraying the farce of her curated family life and the perfect social media posts on which she has built a fortune.
Soo Jung blames Jae Hong for introducing her to the detective, leaving Bo Sung horrified that she had orchestrated it all. The couple, so consumed by their own rage and issues, keeps doing what they do best: passing the buck. As each blames the other’s child for causing the accident, it highlights how children often turn into mere pawns. For Kyung Hee, though, Ye Ji is fiercely protected, as she completes the perfect family picture. On the other hand, Soo Jung and Bo Sung use Min Seo as a prize between them as they engage in their warped couple dynamics.
The two girls, who have found comfort in each other, are lonely and lost and leave the house with none of the parents realizing they are the ones who need looking after.
Damage Control: Kyung Hee’s way
Hell hath no fury like a mother pushed to her limits. As both parents engage in whose child was at fault, little realizing there is greater danger lurking for the girls.
In the middle of the affair—in this case, the cover on the affair being blown—there is another intruder at home. Choi Sang Chul, who has been lurking in Kyung Hee’s home wanting to retrieve his phone, sees the video clip and decides to blackmail both Jae Hong and Soo Jung. Little do they realize it is Sang Chul who ran over Na Sol and not the girls. A skirmish results in him being knocked out.
While on the other side, Na Sol’s brother Na Dol has held the girls hostage at Kyung Hee’s holiday home. Both the mothers rush to rescue the girls, with Kyung Hee taking charge. She proves that when pushed to her limits, she is not one to backtrack but surge forward. For her, there is a solution to every problem. It is almost comical how the two women take on a man thrice their size in build and strength, though joined by their husbands, it is Kyung Hee leading the show.
Through a series of bizarre happenings, there are now not one, but three dead bodies, with both Sang Chul and Na Dol knocked out dead. Kyung Hee, well aware that her actions will catch up with her, seems confident to take on whatever comes her way, even if it means losing everything she has built from scratch. For her, her sole mission is to protect her daughter, and she can even kill for it.
It is also comical to see how everyone takes Kyung Hee’s lead, never once questioning the consequences. The police catch up with Kyung Hee over Na Dol’s disappearance since he was last seen on her premises and they have proof she was following him. A real badass, Kyung Hee calmly responds that she had hired him since her husband was having an affair with her neighbor, well aware of the repercussions on the reputation she had been trying to protect all along. Kyung Hee apologizes to the public for the scandal and inconvenience caused. Jae Hong and Soo Jung are now publicly exposed and are made the villains of the piece. Soo Jung’s clinic has shut down, and Jae Hong has been canceled; she has got her revenge even the coolest way possible on the two people who betrayed her. With her entire Captain Park image in shambles, Kyung Hee is unfazed because she knows she can rebuild herself again.
The end no one foresaw
It has been a classic case of each one putting the other under the bus. What began with one dead body, now there are three buried in Kyung Hee’s holiday home. This is the best kept secret between the couples, who have, despite the damage to their reputations, made a pact never to divulge. Adversity turns foes into fair-weather friends.
The police, on the other hand, keep reaching a dead end in their investigation. They retrieve Na Sol’s car from the river, and the dash cam is missing. On the other, they find footage of Na Sol being hit brutally by Sang Cheol, who according to them is on the run. The police come up with their own conclusion that Sang Cheol who has sought the help of the local mafia boss Du Sik, had killed the twins and in turn was killed by Du Sik. The case is closed, with Du Sik protesting that he had never committed the crime. The way the investigation is conducted, though hilarious, also satires how many cases end without justice being ever given.
What makes the ending so bizarre and hilarious is that no one really knows who killed whom. It is all so tangled up, with the police left trying to piece together a case where every version seems to contradict the other. And through it all, the family watches everything unfold, somehow emerging completely unscathed from the chaos around them. It is darkly comic, but also strangely reflective of life itself, where nothing is ever quite as clear as it seems, and there are always different versions of the truth.

Kim Hye Soo, Kim Ji Hun, And More Face A Shocking Turn Of Events Triggered By An Affair In New Drama “The Affair Was Just The Beginning”
Upcoming drama “The Affair Was Just the Beginning” has unveiled new stills featuring its cast!
Starring Kim Hye Soo, Cho Yeo Jeong, Kim Ji Hun, and Kim Jae Chul, “The Affair Was Just the Beginning” is a black comedy that unfolds as spiraling chain reactions take place when a popular influencer couple, who has sold the image of a happy family, and their next-door neighbors—a doctor couple locked in a bitter divorce battle—become entangled in an overwhelming secret that makes even an affair seem trivial.
The newly released stills feature Kyung Hee (Kim Hye Soo), a self-made interior design influencer. She has moved into a new home with her husband Jae Hong (Kim Ji Hun) and their daughter Ye Ji, creating what appears to be a warm family.
In contrast, their neighbor Su Jeong (Cho Yeo Jeong), a dermatologist, hides her struggles behind her elegant appearance. She is embroiled in a divorce lawsuit with her ex-husband Bo Seong (Kim Jae Chul) while enduring a lonely daily life with her daughter Min Seo.
The additional stills capture the unexpected turns hidden beneath what appears to be a glamorous everyday life. While one still shows Kyung Hee and her husband Jae Hong enjoying a happy moment in their new home, other stills reveals Jae Hong unexpectedly dropping to his knees before later fleeing while keeping himself hidden.
Another still shows Bo Seong standing with a visibly agitated facial expression, hinting at a confrontation with Su Jeong.
The series unfolds as the once-peaceful daily lives of two families collapse in an instant, setting off a chain of events. Its key feature is the progression of overwhelming incidents that go beyond the theme of an affair, including the discovery of an unidentified body in an unfamiliar location.
Meanwhile, an image showing daughters Ye Ji and Min Seo facing each other in an alley suggests that the adults’ unresolved problems may ultimately affect their children.
“The Affair Was Just the Beginning” is set to premiere on July 31 at 8 p.m. KST. Stay tuned!

The newly released trailer opens with Na Se Ri (Han Go Eun), dressed in a glamorous gown, playing the cello with a sorrowful facial expression as she sheds tears. It then gradually reveals the chain of tragic events that tore a family apart due to the misguided choices made by Na Se Ri and Cha Min Ki (Jeon No Min).

Lee Sang Hee Is An Unsettling Presence Who Changes The Course Of Events In “The Husband”
The upcoming KBS drama “The Husband” has unveiled the first stills of Lee Sang Hee’s mysterious character!
“The Husband” is a romance thriller that follows Kang Tae Joo (Namkoong Min), a man who becomes entangled in a desperate fight against a ruthless criminal in order to rescue his wife, who is kidnapped just before their divorce.
Lee Sang Hee stars as Kim Kyung Ae, a mysterious woman who suddenly appears before Go Se Yoon (Lee Seol) when she finds herself in trouble. Although her words and actions are undeniably kind and gentle, there is something strangely unsettling about her presence. Constantly leaving others suspicious of her true intentions, Kim Kyung Ae becomes a crucial variable who changes the course of events in unexpected ways.
Newly released stills offer a glimpse of Kim Kyung Ae’s secretive nature. In one scene, Kim Kyung Ae casts a wary gaze toward something in the distance. Carrying a plastic bag containing an unknown item, she moves cautiously before appearing startled by something she discovers. What impact will Kim Kyung Ae—who brings an air of mystery and suspicion wherever she appears— have on the story?
Speaking about her decision to join the drama, Lee Sang Hee shared, “I was grateful to receive the offer, and above all, I was curious about the cast. I had previously appeared in the same project as Namkoong Min, but we never had the opportunity to act together in the same scenes, so I wanted to work with him through this drama. I was also eager to watch Kim Dae Myeung’s acting up close.”
She continued, “It was also a role that felt unfamiliar to me, which made me want to take on the challenge. I spent a lot of time thinking about how to best portray Kyung Ae, and during filming, I frequently sought advice from the director and my fellow actors. Their help was invaluable as we exchanged emotions and built the character together.”
The production team commented, “In ‘The Husband,’ Lee Sang Hee delivers the peak of realistic acting, creating intense tension and a sense of unease through the most ordinary appearance. We are confident that the mysterious questions surrounding Kim Kyung Ae will serve as a catalyst that drives the drama’s suspense to its highest level.”
“The Husband” is set to premiere on July 4 at 9:20 p.m. KST.
