May Rookie Idol Group Brand Reputation Rankings Announced

The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for rookie idol groups!

The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community awareness indexes of various rookie idol groups, using big data collected from April 1 to May 1.

KiiiKiii continued their reign at the top of the list this month with a brand reputation index of 1,154,671. High-ranking phrases in the group’s keyword analysis included “Gen Z vibe,” “404,” and “KiiiKiii FesTiiival,” while their highest-ranking related terms included “distinguish themselves,” “participate,” and “active.” KiiiKiii’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 92.17 percent positive reactions.

Meanwhile, TWS rose to second place with a brand reputation index of 930,321 for May.

Hearts2Hearts came in at a close third with a brand reputation index of 904,097, while CORTIS followed in fourth with a score of 877,463.

Finally, ILLIT rounded out the top five with a brand reputation index of 776,045, marking a 3.94 percent increase in their score since April.

The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for individual idols!

The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community awareness indexes of 1,730 idols, using big data collected from April 20 to May 20.

BTS’s Jimin topped this month’s list with a brand reputation index of 8,298,417. High-ranking phrases in his keyword analysis included “ARMY,” “black leather,” and “blond hair,” while his highest-ranking related terms included “powerful,” “explosive,” and “glamorous.” Jimin’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 93.02 percent positive reactions.

IVE’s Jang Won Young took second place with a brand reputation index of 7,186,672, marking a 0.35 percent increase in her score since April.

BTS’s Jungkook came in at a close third with a brand reputation index of 7,153,623, while his bandmate V ranked fourth with a score of 6,618,231.

Finally, Wanna One’s Park Ji Hoon rounded out the top five with a brand reputation index of 6,431,546.

The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for all idol groups!

The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community awareness indexes of various idol groups, using big data collected from April 14 to May 14.

BTS held onto their spot at the top of the list this month with a brand reputation index of 10,608,366. High-ranking phrases in the group’s keyword analysis included “ARMY,” “Mexico concert,” and “ARIRANG,” while their highest-ranking related terms included “sing along,” “perform,” and “record.” BTS’s positivity-negativity analysis revealed a score of 95.53 percent positive reactions.

IVE also maintained their position at second place with a brand reputation index of 5,538,659 for May.

BLACKPINK rose to third place with a brand reputation index of 5,121,648, marking a 14.74 percent increase in their score since last month.

Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN took fourth place for May with a brand reputation index of 3,450,894.

Finally, CORTIS shot to fifth place with a brand reputation index of 2,951,892, marking a whopping 201.71 percent increase in their score since April.

On May 12, the production team released stills of Kang Dong Won as Hyun Woo, the leader and dance machine of the co-ed dance group TRIANGLE on stage.

“Wild Sing” is a comedy movie that follows the story of TRIANGLE, a once-popular co-ed trio that fell into obscurity after an unfortunate incident. The film depicts their chaotic journey as they attempt to reunite and make a comeback.

The standout feature in the newly released stills is Kang Dong Won’s bold styling. He effortlessly pulls off oversized wide-leg pants inspired by the street fashion trend of the early 2000s, along with a blunt bob with highlighted streaks.

Kang Dong Won’s transformation goes beyond his appearance. The production team shared that he completed about five months of intensive choreography training to fully portray his character.

In one still, Kang Dong Won shows fluid movements, as well as a high-difficulty “freeze” pose that requires him to support his body with one hand.

Choreographer Yang Wook, who worked on the performance, praised him, saying, “He understands the appeal of dance precisely. Thanks to his commanding physique, he has an outstanding ability to express movement with just subtle touches.”

At a previous production briefing, Kang Dong Won shared a humble reflection, saying, “After preparing for it myself, I realized how amazing idols are, and I came to respect them.”

THE BOYZ’s Q, Lee Jin Hyuk, Hwang Ji Ah, And More Confirmed For New Idol Drama “My Idol, My Debut”

MBC Plus’s upcoming drama “My Idol, My Debut” has announced its cast lineup including THE BOYZ’s Q, Lee Jin Hyuk, Lee Jin Kyu, Lee Ho Hyun, Hwang Ji Ah, WOOAH’s Nana, tripleS’s Kaede, and AISA!

“My Idol, My Debut” is a time-slip coming-of-age story about a passionate fan who travels eight years into the past to prevent a tragic accident. She becomes an idol trainee in an effort to change fate.

In the drama, the boy group Boy to the Moon and the girl group IRION begin as fictional groups within the story. They later debut as real idols through official music releases and stage performances. It blends drama with K-pop promotions, marking a first-of-its-kind approach in South Korea.

Q plays Han Jae Ha, a central character and key member of Boy to the Moon with exceptional talent and a distinct star aura. Through the role, Q expands his acting range through both idol performance scenes and the character’s growth.

Lee Jin Hyuk joins as Ethan, a Canada-born member who serves as a key pillar of the group alongside Han Jae Ha.

Lee Jin Kyu and Lee Ho Hyun play Kaden and Eun Ho, respectively, completing Boy to the Moon with added teamwork and story depth.

As for the girl group IRION, Hwang Ji Ah joins the cast as Choi Ae Ni, who drives the story’s main plot. She portrays an idol trainee who enters the industry in an effort to change her fate.

Kang Dong Won, Park Ji Hyun, and Um Tae Goo are transforming into a co-ed group for their upcoming movie!

“Wildsing” is a comedy movie that follows the story of Triangle, a once-popular co-ed trio that fell into obscurity after an unfortunate incident. The film depicts their chaotic journey as they attempt to reunite and make a comeback.

Ahead of its release, the film has dropped teasers for Triangle’s special comeback single “Love is” through the group’s official social media channel.

Kang Dong Won stars as Hyunwoo, the group’s leader and a dance machine known for his signature headspin moves. His red bandana and highlighted hairstyle seen in the poster perfectly capture the essence of 1990s idol fashion.

Park Ji Hyun, who plays the group’s only female member and center Domi, showcases her standout visuals, while Um Tae Goo undergoes a striking transformation into the group’s youngest member Sanggu, a high-energy rapper.

In the teaser, the trio delivers sharp dance breaks set to old-school hip-hop beats. According to film insiders, the actors underwent intensive training in both choreography and rap, comparable to real-life idols, in preparation for their roles. Adding to the lineup, Oh Jung Se plays Sung Gon, a ballad singer who was once overshadowed by Triangle and remained perpetually in second place.

Going beyond typical film promotion, the project will also pre-release the title track “Love is” on May 21.

“Wildsing” is set to hit theaters on June 3.
