Suzy Talks About Her Acting Journey, Upcoming Projects, And More
Suzy has joined ELLE Korea for a pictorial!
In the interview that followed the photo shoot, Suzy, who has portrayed a diverse range of women in “Architecture 101,” “Anna,” “Doona!” and “Genie, Make a Wish,” opened up about the potential she discovered in her own face. She said, “I didn’t understand why people used to think of first love when they looked at my face. Then I was told that because my face is ordinary and unassuming, it’s easy to project the emotions from a film onto it, and I thought, ‘I guess I can contain various characters in my face.’”
She added, “As time passes, there are moments when I discover expressions or sides of my face that I didn’t know I had. I’m really happy at those times, and I think there are still sides of myself that I don’t know about.”
Regarding her approach to portraying characters as an actress, she explained, “Rather than looking only at the character itself, I now think more about what kind of relationships the character has with the people around them and what kind of environment they grew up in. Even if it isn’t included in the script, I imagine what kind of time this character has gone through and create my own reasons and backstory for them.”
Suzy also compared the characters she has portrayed to multiple “rooms” in her heart. She explained, “I’ve always thought that there are multiple rooms in my heart. I have both affection and regrets for every character I’ve played, but I’m someone who values the present, so I think I’ve closed all the rooms well. Right now, only the room for ‘The Men of the Harem’ (literal translation), which I’m filming, is wide open.”
She also shared her anticipation for her upcoming projects. Regarding the film “Seven O’Clock Breakfast for the Brokenhearted,” she said, “I was very drawn to the fact that you can actually share things more honestly with strangers who have experienced similar sadness.”
Regarding another upcoming project, “Portraits of Delusion,” she said, “The mysterious atmosphere I felt in director Han Jae Rim’s writing and the woman’s story contained within it deeply resonated with me. While playing Song Jeong Hwa, I feel like many different sides of me were captured on screen. It wasn’t an easy process, but I enjoyed it that much more and learned a lot.”
As for her criteria for choosing future projects, she answered, “Honestly, I still don’t really know what my criteria are. I want to act in projects and play characters that I feel drawn to at the time. In the end, I think I trust that next ‘pull’ a lot.”
Suzy’s full pictorial and interview can be found in the October issue of ELLE Korea. Her upcoming film “Seven O’Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted” is set to hit theaters in December, and the drama “Portraits of Delusion” is set to premiere in the second half of 2026.
Lee Jung Eun, Kong Hyo Jin, Park So Dam, And Lee Yeon Dish On Their Upcoming Film “The Journey To Gyeongju”
The main cast of the upcoming film “The Journey to Gyeongju” recently took part in a photo shoot with ELLE Korea!
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is a family revenge film about a mother and three daughters who embark on a “killer” journey after waiting eight years, all for their youngest daughter Gyeong Ju who never returned from a school field trip.
Lee Jung Eun plays mother Ok Sil, Kong Hyo Jin plays eldest daughter Jang Ju, Park So Dam plays second daughter Young Ju, while Lee Yeon plays third daughter Dong Ju.
In the interview that followed the photo shoot, Lee Jung Eun explained the origins of the film, saying, “Director Kim Mi Jo said she came up with this story after looking at a family photo and asking herself, ‘What would a mother do if the family that was once whole fell apart?’”
Regarding her character, Lee Jung Eun remarked, “Ok Sil is someone who cannot stand injustice. She has a fiery feeling inside her that asks, ‘Can I really just stand by and watch this happen?’”
She added, “I think the director wanted at least one person to be someone who never forgets until the very end. That person is the mother.” She also said, “While filming this film, I often thought about how we need to protect and respect the person who remembers as well as the time they spend mourning.”
Kong Hyo Jin recalled her reaction when she first read the script, saying, “I thought it was a piece of writing that had nothing left to cut and nothing that needed to be added. It was so good that I kept wondering what would happen next.”
Describing the four women in the family as a “motley crew,” she said, “Going through the same loss does not mean everyone will arrive at the same thoughts or conclusions. There is the daughter who cannot stop her mother from pushing ahead with the trip, the daughter who encourages her mother, the daughter who takes her mother’s side, and the daughter who tries to face reality. Their different feelings are at the heart of this film.”
Park So Dam spoke about the emotion that runs throughout the film, saying, “This is not a film that says revenge is right. What matters is how this family continues to live while carrying their wounds. I hope audiences will focus a little more on the feelings of love and loss that lie beneath the story rather than on revenge.”
Lee Yeon also remarked, “It was only after we finished filming that I was finally able to process this project in my heart. ‘The Journey to Gyeongju’ is a film that helped me understand the feelings of those who are left behind rather than focusing on revenge.”
Even off camera, the relationship among the four actresses continued like that of a real family. During filming, they spent their time seeking out restaurants in Gyeongju, going for walks, and playing games together. Even now, two years after filming wrapped, they still maintain an active group chat.
When asked about their chemistry, Kong Hyo Jin expressed confidence in the bond among the four, saying, “We could live together even if you told us to without any hesitation.” Lee Jung Eun gave their chemistry “a perfect score” without hesitation. Park So Dam and Lee Yeon also said, “We became close enough to keep meeting and staying in touch even after the project ended.”
Lee Jung Eun, Kong Hyo Jin, Park So Dam, and Lee Yeon’s full pictorial and interview can be found in the September issue of ELLE Korea.
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is set to hit theaters in Korea on August 26. Stay tuned!

Lee Jung Eun And Byun Yo Han Face Off As Grieving Mother And Her Daughter’s Killer In “The Journey To Gyeongju”
The upcoming film “The Journey to Gyeongju” has unveiled new posters featuring the intense confrontation between Lee Jung Eun and Byun Yo Han.
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is a family revenge film about a mother and three daughters who embark on a “killer” journey after waiting eight years, all for their youngest daughter Gyeong Ju who never returned from a school field trip.
The newly released posters vividly capture the intense and twisted relationship between Ok Sil (Lee Jung Eun), a mother who lost her daughter, and Baek Sang Hyun (Byun Yo Han), the murderer responsible for the daughter’s death.
The resentment and anger that have built up over the past eight years are written all over the two actors’ faces. As they face each other with completely opposing emotions over the same incident, their intense expressions foreshadow the fierce and desperate confrontation that awaits in the film.
Lee Jung Eun portrays Ok Sil’s deep-seated grief and fury as she glares at her opponent through her wet hair. Her tightly pressed lips and piercing gaze convey both the sorrow of losing her daughter and her fierce determination to seek revenge. The red marks left on her face also hint at the violent clash that has taken place between the two characters.
The phrase, “If I just kill you, our family can start over,” succinctly captures Ok Sil’s state of mind after spending eight years consumed by her daughter’s death. Rather than remaining trapped in grief, Ok Sil chooses to take revenge herself, with Lee Jung Eun bringing the character’s complex emotions to life through her intense performance.
Byun Yo Han’s Baek Sang Hyun brings a different kind of intensity to the poster. With his sweat-soaked hair and piercing gaze, he appears to be caught in the aftermath of a physical altercation with Ok Sil. The line, “F***, why are you doing this to me?”, further highlights his shameless and almost unhinged demeanor as he shows little to no remorse for the crime he committed.
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is set to hit theaters in Korea on August 26.

Lee Jung Eun And Kong Hyo Jin’s Bizarre Family Trip Hides A Dark Secret In “The Journey To Gyeongju”
The upcoming film “The Journey to Gyeongju” has unveiled intriguing new stills!
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is a family revenge film about a mother and three daughters who embark on a “killer” journey after waiting eight years, all for their youngest daughter Gyeong Ju who never returned from a school field trip.
The newly released stills capture the family’s eventful and bizarre journey toward their destination. In one image, Ok Sil (Lee Jung Eun) and Jang Ju (Kong Hyo Jin) are driving an old yellow van patched up with duct tape along a mountainside. Their grim expressions immediately suggest that this is far from an ordinary family trip.
In another still, the family stands awkwardly in a line outside a warehouse, wearing matching T-shirts labeled “Mom,” “First Daughter,” “Second Daughter,” and “Third Daughter.”
Adding to the bizarre atmosphere, the family is seen kneeling side by side in front of a traditional memorial table set up in the middle of their accommodation, complete with a cake. The strange juxtaposition of a vacation setting and a memorial ceremony creates an intriguing scene.
Meanwhile, in another photo, Jang Ju, Young Ju (Park So Dam), and Dong Ju (Lee Yeon) are walking through the bushes with their faces tightly wrapped in scarves, seemingly determined to conceal their identities, further deepening the mystery surrounding the three sisters.
Finally, Jang Ju and Dong Ju are seen sprinting through the mountains late at night while wearing blue raincoats and clutching bags, as a group carrying flashlights aggressively chases after them, raising anticipation for what kind of trouble they will encounter.

3 Reasons To Anticipate Lee Jung Eun And Kong Hyo Jin’s Upcoming Film “The Journey To Gyeongju”
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is gearing up for its highly-anticipated release!
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is a family revenge film about a mother and three daughters who embark on a “killer” journey after waiting eight years, all for their youngest daughter Gyeong Ju who never returned from a school field trip.
Ahead of the release, the production team has unveiled three points to anticipate:
1. The genre appeal of twisting the formula of a typical revenge story
Rather than focusing solely on good triumphing over evil or action, “The Journey to Gyeongju” combines the tension of a thriller with wit and family elements. Even while kidnapping someone and stuffing them into the trunk, the mother and her three daughters worry about their next meal and shriek at the sight of tiny bugs. The disconnect of an ordinary family that has never harmed anyone carrying out revenge in a calculated yet clumsy way creates an unpredictable storyline.
2. The chemistry among the cast
This distinctive family dynamic is further brought to life by the cast. Lee Jung Eun transforms into Ok Sil, a mother consumed by grief and anger after losing her daughter while Kong Hyo Jin plays Jang Ju, the eldest daughter who puts her family above everything else. Park So Dam portrays Young Ju, the second daughter who acts with meticulous calculation, and Lee Yeon takes on the role of Dong Ju, the third daughter who throws herself into action without stopping to think.
Adding another layer to the family’s journey is Byun Yo Han, who joins the cast as Baek Sang Hyun, the man the family has waited eight years for. Through a striking visual transformation and an intense character, he establishes a taut relationship with the four women.
3. The family love beneath the revenge
“The Journey to Gyeongju” goes beyond simply punishing the perpetrators, portraying the four mother-daughter family members as they confront wounds they have buried for years and comfort one another on their journey toward their destination.
Through the story of those who have lost a precious family member and endured tragedy to move forward again, the film is expected to capture the continuation of life after loss and the solidarity of family.
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is set to hit theaters in Korea on August 26.

Byun Yo Han Gets Abducted Right After His Release From Prison In New Film “The Journey To Gyeongju”
“The Journey to Gyeongju” has unveiled new stills of Byun Yo Han in character!
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is a family revenge film about a mother and three daughters who embark on a “killer” journey after waiting eight years, all for their youngest daughter Gyeong Ju who never returned from a school field trip.
Byun Yo Han plays Baek Sang Hyun, the man who took Gyeong Ju away from Ok Sil (Lee Jung Eun) and her family. After serving eight years in prison, he is abducted by Ok Sil and her three daughters while unconscious under anesthesia before he even has a chance to enjoy his freedom.
To complete the character’s appearance, Byun Yo Han not only portrayed Baek Sang Hyun with messy hair, a bushy beard, and rough skin, but also personally wore a mouthpiece designed to discolor his teeth. He also studied his walk and uneasy eye movements to create Baek Sang Hyun’s anxious and chilling presence.
Regarding his decision to participate in the production for no fee, Byun Yo Han said, “The producing director of my first commercial film ‘Will You Be There?’ was producing this project, so I was naturally drawn to it, and the screenplay was really good. It was also meaningful to be able to work with senior and junior actors, including Lee Jung Eun, and I wanted to contribute in whatever small way I could.”
He added, “Because there is no justification or sense of sympathy behind this character’s actions, I was actually able to throw myself into the role and act more boldly. I thought the more painful it was for me, the greater the fear and tension the audience would feel.”
Director Kim Mi Jo explained why she cast Byun Yo Han, saying, “The moment I heard Byun Yo Han’s name, it felt as if a light suddenly switched on in my mind, like it was fate. He is a professional actor who went beyond the screenplay to capture hidden contexts that I hadn’t even thought of and bring them out onto the screen.”
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is set to hit theaters in Korea on August 26.

Lee Yeon Is The Family Troublemaker Who Acts Before She Thinks In New Film “The Journey To Gyeongju”
“The Journey to Gyeongju” has unveiled new stills of Lee Yeon in character!
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is a family revenge film about a mother and three daughters who embark on a “killer” journey after waiting eight years, all for their youngest daughter Gyeong Ju who never returned from a school field trip.
Lee Yeon plays Dong Ju, the third child of the family and a former professional wrestler. Dong Ju is a hotheaded, action-oriented character whose fists move faster than her thoughts and who seems like a ticking time bomb that attracts trouble wherever she goes. Even after ending her wrestling career due to an injury, she channels her overflowing energy into taking charge of the physically demanding tasks in the family’s revenge mission.
To perfect the character, Lee Yeon traveled to Japan to refine her look with a striking shaggy-cut hairstyle. She also underwent rigorous professional wrestling action training, demonstrating her dedication to the role.
Director Kim Mi Jo said, “It is difficult to imagine Dong Ju being played by anyone other than Lee Yeon, as she showed perfect synchronization with the character. Despite the physically demanding nature of the role due to numerous action scenes, she approached them with passion without a single complaint.”
Lee Yeon also highlighted the character’s tender inner side, saying, “Dong Ju is the roughest and most distinctive member of the family, but she is actually a young daughter who throws herself into action because she wants to ease her mother’s deep-seated pain.”
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is set to hit theaters in Korea on August 26.

Park So Dam Is The Strategist Behind Her Family’s Dangerous Mission In New Film “The Journey To Gyeongju”
“The Journey to Gyeongju” has unveiled new stills of Park So Dam in character!
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is a family revenge film about a mother and three daughters who embark on a “killer” journey after waiting eight years, all for their youngest daughter Gyeong Ju who never returned from a school field trip.
Park So Dam plays Young Ju, the second of Ok Sil’s (Lee Jung Eun) four children. She is practical and known for her no-nonsense honesty. Once an elite law school graduate who carried her family’s highest hopes, Young Ju has now given up on the national bar examination. Instead, she spends her days unemployed, watching cryptocurrency trading charts. Although she believes her mother’s reckless plan makes no sense, she uses her brilliant intellect to carefully create airtight alibis, making her the family’s strategist.
Park So Dam brings the multidimensional character to life by balancing helplessness with cool-headed rationality.
Director Kim Mi Jo praised Park So Dam’s performance, saying, “Young Ju is a lonely character with an independent streak, and Park So Dam was the only actress who could portray her perfectly. She dominated the set through her meticulous analysis of the role, and it was truly electrifying.”
Park So Dam also shared her thoughts on the project, saying, “After countless conversations with the director and the cast, it felt as though we had really been a family in a previous life. Watch: Lee Jung Eun, Kong Hyo Jin, Park So Dam, And Lee Yeon’s Revenge Mission Goes Awry In New Film “The Journey To Gyeongju” Teaser
“The Journey to Gyeongju” has unveiled a new teaser!
“The Journey to Gyeongju” is a family revenge film about a mother and three daughters who embark on a “killer” journey after waiting eight years, all for their youngest daughter Gyeong Ju who never returned from a school field trip.
The trailer opens with mother Ok Sil (Lee Jung Eun) lying collapsed on the floor and immediately grabbing attention with the line, “We kidnapped a murderer.” Haunted by the pain of losing her youngest daughter, the four women resolve to deliver their own form of justice and set out for Gyeongju with the kidnapped murderer in tow. However, after taking the wrong highway entrance, they encounter an unexpected setback that delays their arrival by 56 minutes. With their plan derailed from the outset, the trailer raises questions about the challenges they will face on their journey ahead.
As the story unfolds, the family members’ distinct personalities come into focus, creating a dynamic synergy that heightens the suspense. Ok Sil is the mother who plots the revenge; eldest daughter Jang Ju (Kong Hyo Jin) silently follows her mother’s lead; second daughter Young Ju (Park So Dam) serves as the strategist who guides the family in creating the perfect alibi; and third daughter Dong Ju (Lee Yeon) charges ahead with her bold actions.
However, despite their careful preparation, the seemingly foolproof plan quickly begins to unravel. The bound murderer awakens from sedation and launches a counterattack, setting off a pursuit that forces the four women into another crisis. Jang Ju’s tearful confession, “Mom, I want to be happy again soon,” and Ok Sil’s declaration, “If we just kill that bastard, our family can start over with a new heart and a new purpose,” capture the family’s desperation as they continue their pursuit of revenge.
Adding another layer of intrigue, the end of the video features a surprise appearance by Byun Yo Han in a police uniform, teasing the role he will play in the story.
