“Colony” Becomes Fastest Film Of 2026 To Surpass 1 Million Moviegoers
“Colony” is off to a strong start at the box office!
On the morning of May 24, the Korean Film Council announced that “Colony” had recorded a total of 1,089,996 moviegoers.
“Colony” is now the fastest film released in 2026 to surpass 1 million moviegoers, outpacing even the record-breaking hit “The King’s Warden.” “Colony” first hit theaters on May 21, meaning that it took less than four days to reach the milestone.
Helmed by “Train to Busan” and “Peninsula” director Yeon Sang Ho, “Colony” is a zombie film about survivors trapped in a building that has been blockaded due to a rapidly mutating virus as they face the ever-growing threat of the infected, who evolve in unpredictable ways. The star-studded cast includes Jun Ji Hyun, Ji Chang Wook, Shin Hyun Been, Kim Shin Rok, Koo Kyo Hwan, and Go Soo.

3 Reasons Why Jun Ji Hyun And Ji Chang Wook’s New Zombie Thriller Film “Colony” Is A Must-Watch
Director Yeon Sang Ho’s new film “Colony” has unveiled three key points viewers should look forward to!
Helmed by “Train to Busan” and “Peninsula” director Yeon Sang Ho, “Colony” tells the story of survivors trapped in a building that has been blockaded due to an unknown virus as those infected evolve into unpredictable forms.
1. A New Species Beyond Traditional Zombies
The first major highlight is the overwhelming suspense created by a new type of infected unlike anything audiences have seen before. Having long explored social anxiety and human nature through the zombie genre, Yeon Sang Ho now presents even more evolved infected beings in this latest work.
The infected in “Colony” move in groups and share information, displaying attack methods and behavior patterns completely different from traditional zombies. Their unpredictable movements intensify the desperate battle between survivors and the infected.
2. A Powerful Ensemble Cast
The second point to watch is the star-studded cast lineup.
Returning to the big screen for the first time in 11 years, Jun Ji Hyun takes center stage as Kwon Se Jung, the leader of the survivors. Joining her are Koo Kyo Hwan as genius biologist Seo Young Cheol, who causes the outbreak; Ji Chang Wook as Choi Hyun Seok, who fights for survival; Shin Hyun Been as Gong Seol Hee, who works to resolve the crisis; Kim Shin Rok as Choi Hyun Hee, who continues helping others amid the chaos; and Go Soo as Han Kyu Seong, who risks his life to return to the dangerous scene.
The actors, each bringing distinct personalities and backstories, are expected to create a highly immersive and powerful acting ensemble.
3. Unique Choreography and Immersive Visual Spectacle
The third highlight lies in the infected creatures’ unique visuals and the production team behind them.
In particular, the eerie movements created through collaboration with dancers deliver a type of fear distinctly different from conventional zombies. The stunt team led by action director Heo Myeong Haeng—known for work on “The Roundup: Punishment” and “Badland Hunters”—joined forces with CELL, the special makeup team led by Hwang Hyo Gyun, who previously brought the zombies of “Train to Busan” to life. Together, they created vivid action sequences and highly original creature designs.
Large-scale sets, immersive filming techniques, and stylish production design are also expected to pull audiences directly into the story. The film aims to deliver a survival experience that feels as though viewers are wandering through the building alongside the survivors, maximizing the thrill of watching it in theaters.
“Colony” is set to hit theaters on May 21.

Based on the webtoon of the same name by writer Kang Full, “Moving” is a superhero action drama about teenagers with hidden superhuman powers and their parents who harbor painful secrets from their pasts.
While Season 1 focused on younger leads like Bong Seok (Lee Jung Ha), Hui Soo (Go Youn Jung), and Gang Hoon (Kim Do Hoon), the upcoming season is expected to shift its focus more toward newly introduced characters and the adult generation who have returned to their daily lives following the “Jeongwon High School Incident,” as they move to protect their loved ones while facing new threats.
The series will be directed by Kim Seong Hun, known for the Netflix series “Kingdom” as well as the films “Ransomed,” “Tunnel,” and “A Hard Day.” He joins the project as a new addition, replacing director Park In Je who led Season 1.
The star-studded cast lineup has also been unveiled. Jun Ji Hyun, Ji Chang Wook, And More Are Surrounded By Mysterious Substance In Poster For New Film “Colony”
The upcoming film “Colony” has unveiled a new poster!
Helmed by “Train to Busan” and “Peninsula” director Yeon Sang Ho, “Colony” tells the story of survivors trapped in a building that has been blockaded due to an unknown virus as those infected evolve into unpredictable forms.
The newly released poster features Kwon Se Jung (Jun Ji Hyun), Choi Hyun Seok (Ji Chang Wook), Gong Seol Hee (Shin Hyun Been), Choi Hyun Hee (Kim Shin Rok), Han Kyu Seong (Go Soo), and Seo Young Cheol (Koo Kyo Hwan) surrounded by an unidentified mucus-like substance. Each character’s expression conveys different emotions, including desperation to survive, determination to uncover the truth behind the incident, and an unreadable air of mystery. The strange substance framing the characters also raises question about its nature and its possible connection to the outbreak.
“Colony” is set to hit theaters on May 21.

Shin Ha Kyun, Oh Jung Se, And Heo Sung Tae Get Pulled Back Into Action In “Fifties Professionals”
MBC’s upcoming drama “Fifties Professionals” has unveiled new character posters!
“Fifties Professionals” is an action-comedy about three seemingly ordinary but secretly dangerous middle-aged men who are brought back into action by destiny. The three men, who once reigned at the top of their respective fields, find themselves exiled to the remote island of Yeongseon after a mysterious incident. There, they begin a bittersweet and comedic quest to uncover the truth about the fateful day from 10 years ago that changed their lives.
The newly released posters spotlight Jung Ho Myung (Shin Ha Kyun), Bong Je Soon (Oh Jung Se), and Kang Beom Ryong (Heo Sung Tae), while a separate group poster also features Kang Young Ae (Kim Shin Rok), Chairman Do (Kwon Yul), Ma Gong Bok (Lee Hak Joo), Park Mi Kyung (Han Ji Eun), and Yoo In Goo (Hyun Bong Sik).
The character posters capture the very different starting points of the three men’s second chapter in life. Though full of determination, their aging bodies—far from their prime—amplify the drama’s signature comedic tone.
First, Ho Myung is seen wearing a wrist brace while flashing a laid-back smile. His tagline, “I’ll show you what a real professional looks like,” heightens curiosity about his hidden past and the role he will play moving forward.
Je Soon commands attention with a dynamic pose as he wraps a bandage around his knee. His line, “Fights aren’t settled with words,” teases the chaos that may unfold after he regains his lost memories.
Meanwhile, Beom Ryong sports a pain-relief patch on his lower back while confidently declaring, “My fists haven’t expired yet,” showcasing charisma that remains as fierce as ever despite the passing years.
The newly released group poster further heightens intrigue by gathering characters with different motives in one place. At the center is Jung Ho Myung, a former National Intelligence Service agent who has spent the past decade hiding his identity while working as a chef at Oran Chinese Restaurant. Alongside him are North Korean operative Bong Je Soon, who lost his memories from 10 years ago, and Kang Beom Ryong, the longtime second-in-command of the Hwasan gang who now runs a convenience store. Their differing expressions and gazes hint at the complex relationships tying them together.
Adding to the tension are Chairman Do and Yoo In Goo, whose sharp and confrontational presence suggests they stand in opposition to the trio. Prosecutor Kang Young Ae, seen making a phone call with a cold expression, also hints at the beginning of a dangerous incident.
The wary looks exchanged between the characters raise questions about “that incident” from 10 years ago and the mysterious missing object connected to it all. Anticipation is building over how these characters, reunited after a decade, will clash once again—and what hidden truths will finally come to light.
“Fifties Professionals” will premiere on May 22 at 9:50 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki. Stay tuned!

Watch: Jun Ji Hyun, Ji Chang Wook, And More Face Off Against Koo Kyo Hwan In Desperate Fight For Survival In “Colony”
The upcoming film “Colony” has unveiled a new teaser!
Helmed by “Train to Busan” and “Peninsula” director Yeon Sang Ho, “Colony” follows the story that unfolds as a building is blockaded due to an unknown virus as those infected evolve into unpredictable forms, threatening the survivors.
The trailer opens with Kwon Se Jung (Jun Ji Hyun), Choi Hyun Seok (Ji Chang Wook), Gong Seol Hee (Shin Hyun Been), Choi Hyun Hee (Kim Shin Rok), and Han Kyu Seong (Go Soo) each desperately trying to survive the catastrophic situation from their respective positions.
In stark contrast, Seo Young Cheol (Koo Kyo Hwan) remains eerily calm amid the chaos, declaring, “I’m the only vaccine capable of stopping this situation.”
Meanwhile, the infected evolve in horrifyingly unpredictable ways and charge violently at the survivors, creating tension against Choi Hyun Seok’s hopeful line, “If we can just make it to the rooftop, we can all survive.” As it becomes clear that the survivors’ journey will be anything but easy, the confrontation between survivor leader Kwon Se Jung and Seo Young Cheol—the man behind the outbreak—hints at a fierce conflict between the two.

“Colony” is set to hit theaters on May 21.

Kim Shin Rok Transforms Into A Prosecutor Determined To Uphold Justice In New Drama “Fifties Professionals”
MBC’s upcoming Friday-Saturday drama “Fifties Professionals” has unveiled new stills featuring Kim Shin Rok in character!
Kim Shin Rok plays prosecutor Kang Young Ae, a character who pursues justice without hesitation. She moved from the police force to the prosecution, driven by a strong sense of duty. Disillusioned by criminals who escape punishment through power and cartels, she decides to pursue indictments on her own. Even after being demoted for investigating internal corruption, she does not back down, holding firmly to her belief in punishing wrongdoers to the end.
In the newly released stills, Kang Young Ae tracks evidence to uncover the truth behind the case. She studies newspapers and documents spread across her desk with a sharp gaze while following clues, and in another moment, she tilts her head at a puzzle that does not come together easily, adding to the tension.
In another still, the mood shifts. Kang Young Ae appears with a subtle smile, suggesting a change as if she has found a clue to solving the case. This builds curiosity about the truth she will uncover.
The production team said, “Kim Shin Rok delivered an impressive performance from the first shoot, fully immersing herself in the character. As an actress who has continued to redefine her career through a variety of roles, please look forward to a new charm of her in this prosecutor role.”
“Fifties Professionals” is set to premiere on May 22 at 9:50 p.m. KST.

Watch: Shin Ha Kyun, Oh Jung Se, And Heo Sung Tae Strive To Prove They Still Have Potential In “Fifties Professionals” Teaser
MBC’s “FIfties Professionals” has unveiled a new teaser!
Shin Ha Kyun plays Jung Ho Myung, a National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent who has been on standby for 10 years and now works as the head chef at a Chinese restaurant. Oh Jung Se plays Bong Je Soon, a North Korean special operations agent who lost his memory 10 years ago. Heo Sung Tae plays Kang Beom Ryong, the No. 2 figure in the Hwasan Gang who now runs a convenience store.
The newly released character teaser introduces Jung Ho Myung, Bong Je Soon, and Kang Beom Ryong in depth.
The teaser begins with Jung Ho Myung’s confident outburst, “Look, see if i can do it or not,” only for him to be quickly dejected by being unable to even collect tabs from customers. Hearing his wife Kwon Oh Ran’s (Shin Dong Mi) nagging, Jung Ho Myung struggles with his reality, especially as he faces an unexpected menopause diagnosis.
Meanwhile, after being found at sea with no memories, Bong Je Soon is now in charge of cleaning and washing cars, being easily taken advantage of. As he wonders “What happened?” Bong Je Soon makes viewers curious to find out if he will be able to recall his memories.
At the convenience store, Kang Beom Ryong tells his underling Ma Gong Bok (Lee Hak Joo), “Just focus on raising the convenience store’s sales.” Although he wants to appear to be a friendly store owner, he can’t forget his life as a gangster as he instinctively thinks the police wants to arrest him when asked to put his hands out.
The teaser concludes as tensions rise regarding a suspicious incident resurfacing around Yeongseon island and what “the incident of that day” from 10 years ago could be. Furthermore, the addition of cast members Kim Sang Kyung, Kim Shin Rok, Kwon Yul, Lee Hak Joo, Han Ji Eun, Kim Sang Ho, and Hyun Bong Sik add further anticipation to the drama.
