Watch: Kim Ji Won Bluntly Calls Morally Corrupt Doctors “Pathetic” In “Doctor X” Episode 1 Clip

The upcoming SBS drama “Doctor X” has released a preview clip from Episode 1!

Based on the hit Japanese series of the same name, “Doctor X” is a medical noir drama starring Kim Ji Won as Gye Soo Jung, a genius surgeon who proves what it truly means to be a doctor through pure skill alone as she “operates” on a corruption-ridden establishment.

The newly released clip highlights Gye Soo Jung’s blunt and fearless personality. A freelance surgeon dispatched through a medical staff placement agency to fill a gap in the surgical department at Guseo University Hospital, Gye Soo Jung is known for her obsession with surgery, earning her the nickname “the crazy Gye [wordplay of the similarly sounding Korean word for “dog”] of the operating room.”

In the clip, Gye Soo Jung openly speaks her mind in front of surgical professor Bae Heung Gon (Lee Sung Wook) and senior resident Ma Sung Gyu (Kwon Seung Woo). She bluntly tells them, “I don’t like you guys,” immediately turning the atmosphere tense.

Her sharp criticism continues: Gye Soo Jung calls them “people who have studied solely for money and career advancement, ‘stupidly smart’ but without any ethics, convictions, or independent thought.” She also takes aim at them for “bowing down to senior doctors but arrogantly holding their heads high in front of patients, turning a blind eye to the mistakes of those above them while blaming the system for their own problems,” as well as for “worrying more about how to get themselves out of difficult situations despite knowing the pain and risks their patients face.”

Gye Soo Jung delivers the final stinging remark: “People who are ‘just doctors.’ Hey, you guys are seriously pathetic.”

Her blunt words strike a nerve, prompting Bae Heung Gon to lose his temper and order her to leave. As Gye Soo Jung simply picks up her bag and heads out, the clip ends with surgical intern Park Tae Kyung (Kim Woo Seok) realizing that she did not leave because she was told to—she simply left work for the day because the clock had struck 6 p.m.

“Doctor X” will premiere on October 9 at 9:50 p.m. KST.

JTBC’s “Reborn Rookie” is a new drama that tells the story of Kang Yong Ho (

), the powerful chairman of leading conglomerate Choiseong Group. After 44an accident, he unexpectedly finds himself living an unwanted second life when his soul is swapped into the youthful body of soccer player Hwang Jun Hyun (Lee Jun Young), forcing him to start over as a rookie employee at his own company.

Spoilers

Previously on “Reborn Rookie,” Hwang Jun Hyun (now actually Kang Yong Ho) became the center of attention at Choiseong Group when he unexpectedly demanded an internship as compensation for the hit-and-run accident that ended his soccer career. Unbeknownst to everyone, he began secretly plotting to put Choiseong Group in Hwang Jun Hyun’s hands while also teaching his treacherous daughter Kang Jae Gyeong (Jeon Hye Jin) and son Kang Jae Seong (Jin Goo) a lesson.

In newly released stills from the drama’s next episode, Kang Yong Ho will experience a team dinner from an employee’s perspective for the very first time. When he sees his youngest daughter Kang Bang Geul (Lee Ju Myoung) running around to fill the glasses of the higher-ranking employees, he is unable to hide his discomfort. Now that he’s had the chance to see things through the eyes of a lowly intern, he is extremely displeased with how these drinking gatherings are essentially a continuation of work rather than a fun way to unwind. He is also unhappy with how the employees are practically forced to empty their glasses due to pressure.

However, not long afterwards, Hwang Jun Hyun startles everyone with an unexpected move: getting into a drinking showdown with the head of his division. As the two men face off at a table covered in bottles, Park Bong Gi (Lee Sung Wook) watches them in stunned silence.

Lee Jun Young is about to turn his once-peaceful team upside down on “Reborn Rookie”!

Spoilers

On the previous episode of “Reborn Rookie,” Hwang Jun Hyun (now actually Kang Yong Ho) became an intern at Choiseong Group, where he faced prejudice due to his background as a former soccer player and the victim of Kang Yong Ho’s hit-and-run.

However, in the upcoming third episode of the drama, Hwang Jun Hyun will surprise everyone on his team with his professional competence and impressive abilities that don’t seem like they’d belong to a rookie employee.

Unable to shake his old manner of speech, Hwang Jun Hyun also speaks informally to his boss Park Bong Gi (Lee Sung Wook) and unhesitatingly cracks jokes to fellow intern Kang Bang Geul (Lee Ju Myoung), which makes his co-workers even warier of him.

On top of all this, Hwang Jun Hyun will cause a stir when he steps up for his team by boldly going up against the uncooperative sales team with a gutsy threat, which sets the stage for a conflict between the two departments.

Lee Sung Wook, Kim Jong Tae, And More Are Key Allies To Power Players In Succession War In “Reborn Rookie”

“Reborn Rookie” has unveiled new stills of its key supporting characters!

“Reborn Rookie” follows Kang Yong Ho (Son Hyun Joo), the powerful chairman of the leading conglomerate Choi Sung Group, who is revered as a business genius. After an accident, however, he unexpectedly finds himself living a second life when his soul swaps into the youthful body of a soccer player named Hwang Jun Hyun (Lee Jun Young), forcing him to start over as a rookie employee at his own company.

Following the accident involving Chairman Kang Yong Ho, a fierce succession battle erupts over the vacant chairman position. Alongside Hwang Jun Hyun (Lee Jun Young)—who now carries Kang Yong Ho’s soul—attention is also focused on the allies who stand beside the chairman’s children: youngest daughter Kang Bang Geul (Lee Ju Myoung), eldest daughter Kang Jae Kyung (Jeon Hye Jin), and eldest son Kang Jae Sung (Jin Goo).

Lee Sung Wook will play Park Bong Gi, the manager of Choi Sung Trading’s Materials Team 2, who becomes an ally to interns Hwang Jun Hyun and Kang Bang Geul after they are assigned to his team. Once regarded as a star employee in the audit department, Park Bong Gi was demoted after uncovering corruption within the Choi Sung family. As he teams up with Hwang Jun Hyun and Kang Bang Geul, he begins rediscovering his hidden talents.

Kim Jong Tae will portray Lee Sang Jae, the loyal right-hand man of Chairman Kang Yong Ho and an executive director at Choi Sung Group’s strategic planning headquarters. However, he is thrown into confusion when Hwang Jun Hyun suddenly claims, “I am Kang Yong Ho.”

Meanwhile, Lee Seo An will play Na Eun Se, the eldest daughter-in-law of the Choi Sung family and the heiress of Tae Ha Group. As the strategic “kingmaker” behind Kang Jae Sung, whom she married in an arranged marriage, she does everything possible to help her husband avoid losing the succession battle against his twin sister Kang Jae Kyung.

Kwon Hae Sung will take on the role of Min Seok Do, a neurosurgeon at Hangang University Hospital and the husband of Kang Jae Kyung. After meeting Kang Jae Kyung through a hospital sponsorship event, the two eventually marry. Determined to support his wife, who is willing to do anything to seize control of Choi Sung Group, Min Seok Do also resolves to stand by her side no matter what, showcasing the power of his devotion.

Watch: Lee Jun Young Brings Chairman Energy To His Intern Role In “Reborn Rookie” Teaser

JTBC’s upcoming drama “Reborn Rookie” has shared a new teaser!

The newly released teaser captures the chaos that ensues from the moment Hwang Jun Hyun first steps into Procurement Team 2. In one scene, his exclamation, “Is this—is this really a company?” hints at the unfamiliar workplace environment and the incidents he will soon face.

From the moment he arrives, the atmosphere Hwang Jun Hyun encounters in Procurement Team 2 is anything but smooth. He is greeted by Park Bong Gi (Lee Sung Wook), a longtime department head with almost no presence, and Kang Bang Geul (Lee Ju Myoung), the chairman’s youngest daughter, who secretly joined Choi Sung Group while hiding her identity. Standing before them, he gives the impression that he has grasped the situation in a short amount of time, quickly reading the department’s internal relationships and the company’s power structure.

However, he is unable to hide the instincts and attitudes he developed while living as a chairman. Forgetting his position as an intern, Hwang Jun Hyun speaks informally to Park Bong Gi, and he also displays a fearless attitude in front of Kang Jae Kyung (Jeon Hye Jin), the president of Choi Sung Chemical, and Kang Jae Sung (Jin Goo), the president of Choi Sung Trading. His reactions, which make it seem as though he is standing on equal footing with the core executives of Choi Sung Group, create unexpected tension within Procurement Team 2 and leave those around him completely speechless.
