Kim Min Ho And His Fellow Recruits Stand Before An Eerie Military Hospital In “New Recruit” Film Adaptation Poster

Drama series “New Recruit” has expanded its universe to the big screen!

“New Recruit The Movie: Ghosts Live in the Military Hospital” (literal translation) follows a group of recruits who are admitted to a military hospital dreaming of a sweet respite, only to encounter horrifying rumors about the hospital they believed was paradise and set out to uncover its secrets.

Based on a hit animation, the “New Recruit” drama series is a black comedy drama that explores the lives of young adults in their 20s, delving into the culture, secrets, and absurdities of South Korea’s military. Since its first season aired in 2022, the series has built a solid fandom and expanded into four seasons.

Across its four seasons, the “New Recruit” drama series has depicted various episodes of military life centered around military units. The film, however, shifts the setting to a military hospital while continuing the characters and universe of the existing series. The film will be directed by Min Jin Ki, who helmed the recently concluded “New Recruit 4: Sabotage.”

The shift to a military hospital is also reflected in the newly released launch poster, which features the recruits standing in front of the ominous-looking Armed Forces Yangcheon Hospital. Among those staring at the military hospital, only Park Min Seok (Kim Min Ho) looks back with a meaningful facial expression, heightening curiosity about the events they will encounter at the hospital. The tagline reads, “A blockbuster-scale horror comedy is coming.”

Building on the series’ signature comedy and realistic portrayal of military life, the film seeks to shake things up by combining the existing “New Recruit” series’ comedic elements with the horror genre.

New characters are also joining the cast. Ryu Kyung Soo plays Yoo Jae Hoon, a mysterious soldier admitted to the military hospital. TWICE’s Yu Jeongyeon stars as nursing officer Yoo Jeong Yeon, marking her first screen acting role since her debut.

“New Recruit The Movie: Ghosts Live in the Military Hospital” will be released in theaters this winter. Stay tuned!

SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi has sustained a serious knee injury while fulfilling his military service.

On September 12 KST, Hoshi took to Weverse to personally share that he had been diagnosed with a complete tear of his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and would need to focus on his recovery following surgery.

Hoshi enlisted in the military in September of last year and has since been serving as a member of the Army Taekwondo Demonstration Team. He is currently scheduled to be discharged on March 15, 2027.

Hoshi’s full message is as follows:

Hello, CARATs.

Because this news may come as a bit of a surprise, I’m posting this message cautiously.

While practicing with the Ground Forces performance team, I injured my knee and underwent an examination, and I was diagnosed with a complete tear of my anterior cruciate ligament.

As a result, after surgery, I will need to focus on my recovery for the time being, so I will be unable to participate in the scheduled Taekwondo Demonstration Team events and the Ground Forces Festival.

I worked hard to prepare for these performances because I was truly waiting for and looking forward to them, so I feel very disappointed that I won’t be able to be a part of them, and I’m also very sorry to the CARATs who had been waiting for them.

Although I won’t be able to participate, I hope you’ll cheer on the Taekwondo Demonstration Team and the Ground Forces performance team, which includes Jihoon [Woozi].

I will receive proper treatment and focus on my recovery so that I can quickly return in good health.

Don’t worry too much!
Horanghae 🐯🧡

Wishing Hoshi the speediest of recoveries!

WEi’s Kim Dong Han Announces Military Enlistment Date In Heartfelt Letter

WEi’s Kim Dong Han will be enlisting in the military.

On August 9, WEI’s agency OUI Entertainment released the following official statement:

Hello.
This is OUI Entertainment.

First, we would like to sincerely thank all RUi (WEi’s official fan club) who always give WEi your unwavering love and support.

We would like to inform you regarding Kim Dong Han’s military enlistment.

Kim Dong Han will be fulfilling his mandatory military service as a Korean citizen, and in accordance with the Military Manpower Administration’s guidelines, he will enlist as an active duty soldier on September 7.

There will be no separate event held on the day of his enlistment. As the enlistment site will be attended by many military personnel and their families, we kindly ask fans to refrain from visiting the site in person for everyone’s safety.

We ask for your warm support and love so that Kim Dong Han can faithfully fulfill his military duties and return in good health.

Thank you.

In addition to the announcement, Kim Dong Han personally shared a handwritten letter on his Instagram. He wrote:

Dear my beloved RUi,

Hello, this is Kim Dong Han.

I will be enlisting in the military on September 7.

As I sit here writing this letter, it really hits me that I’m actually going to the military.

Looking back, so much time has passed since the moment I first met RUi.

I recall one by one the countless stages and performances as well as the time the six of us shared together with RUi.

There were so many happy days as well as moments when I struggled and had worries, but the reason I was able to make it this far after going through all those times is, of course, because of RUi.

That’s why the time I spent promoting as an artist wasn’t simply time that passed by but rather precious memories that I want to cherish for a very long time.

And the fact that you were there throughout those moments and that I was part of your lives during your time with us—I think that was a great happiness and blessing for me.

I’ll be away from RUi’s side for a little while, but during that time, I’ll reflect on myself and spend my time well while learning new things.

Of course, I’ll eat really well and take good care of myself even in the military, so don’t worry too much, haha.

I hope RUi will stay healthy while I’m away and live happily in your own respective places.

I will never forget all the moments we’ve shared until now or the love that RUi has given me.

So you’ll wait for me just a little while, right? 😊

I’ll hurry back and greet you again with an even better version of myself.

Thank you so much for everything until now, and I think I’ll continue to be grateful to you in the future as well.

I love you.

Let’s meet again. ☺️❤️

Watch: Kim Min Ho, Kim Dong Jun, And Lee Won Jung’s Military Life Is Shaken Up By A Tough New Commander In “New Recruit 4”

“New Recruit 4” has unveiled its main poster and trailer!

The newly released main poster features the Shinhwa Battalion soldiers and commanding officers lined up in front of the guard post. At the center is Corporal Park Min Seok, joined by original squad members Jeon Se Gye (Kim Dong Jun) and Moon Bit Na Ri (Kim Yo Han), whose determined expressions hint at how much their military lives have changed.

The addition of expressionless new recruit Kim Hyun Wook (Lee Won Jung), whose true intentions remain a mystery, further piques curiosity. The battalion’s commanding officers also make a strong impression, led by the elite new battalion commander Byun Hyuk Jin (Lee Hyun Kyun), alongside company commander Jo Baek Ho (Oh Dae Hwan), First Lieutenant Oh Seok Jin (Lee Sang Jin), and the unit’s youngest staff sergeant Choi Il Goo (Nam Tae Woo).

The accompanying trailer highlights the dramatic changes awaiting the unit. After teasing the worn-out appearance of Sung Yoon Mo (Kim Hyun Gyu), who had expected an easy assignment in the administrative office, the arrival of ace rookie Kim Hyun Wook signals a new era for Shinhwa Battalion. Things only grow more chaotic with the arrival of the battalion’s new commander, Byun Hyuk Jin, who immediately establishes strict discipline and shakes up what had once been a relatively peaceful military life.

As the soldiers are pushed to their limits by an even harsher military life, the trailer hints at the many challenges awaiting Shinhwa Battalion. A relentless series of emergency situations, the arrival of the Marine Corps, and Choi Il Goo’s commanding shout, “From this moment on, this is the real thing, so stay sharp!”, all tease an even bigger and more intense season.
