Watch: Kim Yun Seok And Koo Kyo Hwan Find A Dead Body On A Railway In New Mystery Thriller Film “White Blast” Teaser

The upcoming film “White Blast” has released a mysterious new teaser!

On October 1, film distributor SHOWBOX unveiled the first official trailer for the film “White Blast” and confirmed its November release.

“White Blast” is a mystery thriller film that follows the story of Gap Soo (Kim Yun Seok), a station master nearing retirement, and his newly appointed successor Hyun Taek (Koo Kyo Hwan), after they discover a mysterious body at a rural train station isolated by a heavy snowstorm.

Kim Yun Seok takes on the role of Gap Soo, a station master nearing retirement at Seolo Station, where he has worked his entire life. Koo Kyo Hwan plays Hyun Taek, a railway employee who arrives at Seolo Station to succeed him. Park Soo Young and Roh Yoon Seo also appear in the film.

The trailer depicts the process of Gap Soo and Hyun Taek heading into a tunnel to inspect the tracks, only to discover a dead body. Contrary to Hyun Taek’s remark that “nothing will happen,” an unexpected incident occurs, leading to growing tension between the two characters.

In particular, the scene where Hyun Taek says, “I won’t tell anyone about what happened here,” hints at the mystery surrounding the body and the shifting dynamics of their relationship.

First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist

In the new Thai series “Mr. Kill,” a cop and a mysterious illustrator work together to find a murderer that is copying the gruesome killings illustrated in a dark manga titled “Nekros.” The prime suspect? The illustrator of Nekros himself.

The first episodes of “Mr. Kill” set the stage for a creepy murder mystery rooted in the world of manga. From an intense frenemy relationship between the leads to a story that’ll keep you suspicious, these are the first impressions and predictions the premiere episodes set in motion.

Warning: spoilers from episodes 1 and 2 ahead!

A killer is on the loose

First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图

People are dying, Kim. No, but seriously. People are dying.

With a name like “Mr. Kill,” it feels only fitting that this drama starts with a murder and not just a single murder, but serial killings that are way too gruesome, creative, and detailed not to have a deeper meaning. On the case are police officer Phat (Tee Teeradech Vitheepanich) and his team.

At first, the odd killings and their victims seem random, but a lead from an unexpected source brings up one very important detail: the killings are similar to crimes depicted in an underground, niche manga known as “Nekros.” Anonymously illustrated by a creator nicknamed Mr. Kill, the stories depict grim and twisted murders that are now happening in real life.

First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图1
First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图2

Once the framework for the murders has been discovered, their only connection to who might be doing these crimes is the illustrator. With Phat’s determination, it’s only a matter of time before they identify Mr. Kill, and it turns out to be someone no one would initially suspect.

Kay versus Mr. Kill

First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图3

It’s not long before Phat traces “Nekros” back to manga artist Kay (Dew Jirawat Sutivanichsak). The second main character of this story, Kay, is an illustrator behind the popular romance manga, “Love in the Wind.” Under the pseudonym Mr. Kill, he also wrote “Nekros” in secret. Somehow, Kay and Mr. Kill are the same person, but on paper, they seem like two totally different personalities. It’s truly giving Jekyll and Hyde.

First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图4

In many ways, Kay looks like your average guy. He’s timid and acts like a recluse, outside of going to the office. At work, he’s mistreated and underpaid by his boss, but he’s nonetheless shown to be kind to his coworkers and his many fans. He appears to love illustrating, but he suffers from severe anxiety and nightmares.

But there are moments when Kay seems like someone else entirely, and the suspicious behavior is hard to ignore. First off, Kay sketches disturbing scenes (maybe it’s just part of the job, maybe just a personal interest, or maybe something more), and it begs the question: Is Mr. Kill an alter ego hidden inside Kay or simply a cool nickname that fits the work?

First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图5
First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图6

There are also instances where he wanders through a closed market at night with a hoodie concealing himself, practices smiling in the mirror, keeps a hammer in his bag, and shows up to work with bruises on his arms. Yet he also stops to feed stray cats in an alley. The contrast is seriously confusing. Who is this guy, really? Is he more Kay or is he more Mr. Kill? Maybe things aren’t that black and white.

When word gets out that the killer is copying “Nekros,” Kay immediately burns his paper copies and tries to clear any trace of the manga online. That’s also suspicious. Sometimes he just looks like a scared guy wrapped up in something he never wanted to be involved in, and other times he looks like he’s hiding something.

First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图7

The hammer in his bag eventually gets an explanation: according to him, he’s tormented by debt collectors, so he carries it around for self-defense. That checks out: debt collectors are shown chasing him down, and it’s already been made clear he isn’t paid fairly. It’s very possible that every other suspicious detail about him simply needs an explanation.

For now, Kay, aka Mr. Kill, is the only viable suspect, at least in Phat’s eyes.

Fiction blurred with reality

First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图8

What is for certain is that the framework for the murders is undeniably “Nekros,” and all the clues for what will happen next can be found hidden in the pages. Outside of the whole murdering people aspect, it’s a seriously cool premise to start with. It also makes you wonder why this specific manga, why Kay, and why now? There’s got to be a motive, and at this point, any guess is fair game.

There’s a clear potential for bromance

First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图9

This isn’t quite a BL, but it leans heavily into the hot-and-cold chemistry that develops between Phat and Kay.

Before Kay becomes a suspect, the two meet on more lighthearted terms during Kay’s fan signing event. Phat’s sister is a big fan of Kay’s manga, but she can’t make the event because of an internship interview, so Phat reluctantly goes in her place. One thing leads to another, and the two briefly meet, posing awkwardly for a picture before stealing glances at each other as they part ways.

First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图10

However, things quickly take a turn from lighthearted to menacing when the link between Mr. Kill, “Nekros,” Kay, and the ongoing serial murders is made. Phat shows up at Kay’s company to investigate, only for all fingers to be pointed at Kay for having a similar art style to Mr. Kill a long time ago. Kay denies it as best as he can, but his nerves show, and Phat picks up that something is off.

The show will keep you guessing

First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图11

Kay seems like the perfect suspect, and Phat is determined to put someone in jail for these heinous crimes. Once Kay is suspected to be the illustrator behind “Nekros,” Phat and his team start to investigate Kay. They eventually hunt him down and bring him in for interrogation, but it leads to more questions than answers.

Either Kay puts up an amazing acting performance, or he’s really just a stressed and scared guy drawn into a very bad situation. They’re getting nowhere, but soon Kay starts to notice patterns between the murders and his manga: clues that hint at what killing will be done next and to whom.

First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图12
First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist插图13

Phat decides to use Kay’s insight to move the case along, but he isn’t quite convinced yet that Kay isn’t involved. Instead of removing Kay’s handcuffs and letting him go, he cuffs their hands together so they’re forced to stay side by side. It’s the whole “keep your enemies close” scenario, but it’s also most definitely a setup for more bromance.

This murder mystery is shaping up to be a thrilling chase to find the killer, and it doesn’t look like the show is going to make it easy to find out. If Kay isn’t the killer, then he’s probably the best person to help catch the real culprit, so the unlikely team-up between Phat and Kay is a good move.

With Kay’s insight into the manga and the way the killer works, it looks like they’ll be working together despite their differences, but the cops are still very suspicious of Mr. Kill. Granted, at this point, viewers are probably too.

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”

Hailing from Taiwan, new BL “Connecting to You” tells the story of Lin Chia Kai (Chiu Yi Tai), an average guy except for the fact that he has the supernatural ability to see relationship threads between people. Trying to solve the mystery behind his powers, he ends up working as a psychic police consultant for a skeptical (but very cute) cop, Wu Da Wei (Liu Yu Ren).

Though Chia Kai has never quite understood why he has these strange abilities, the biggest mystery is why he’s never once had a single thread form with anyone. That’s where the plot thickens: his very first thread suddenly appears not days after meeting Da Wei.

Alongside his troublemaking best friend and a cop who suspects him, Chia Kai’s on a mission to figure out what his first thread means while using his abilities to find the truth in relationships.

If you haven’t already pressed play, these are five reasons to start watching “Connecting to You”:

Warning: light spoilers from the first episodes!

1. The lore of the threads

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图

University student and jack-of-all-trades part-timer Chia Kai can see the color-coded relationship threads between the people around him. The origins of his power are a mystery, but it’s a seriously cool icebreaker. The premise feels adjacent to the classic K-drama “The Girl Who Sees Smells” or the more recent Japanese BL “Cherry Magic!“

Now grab your pen and paper, because the threads have their own lore: red represents love, green represents family, yellow represents friendship, and blue represents hostility. There are also meanings behind how thick or thin a line is. Every thread has its own meaning, and when it comes to love and relationships, every color is a clue.

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图1

Thanks to his abilities, Chia Kai is able to pick up on lies, suspicious behaviors, love (or the lack thereof), and so much more. He’s basically psychic with an expertise in relationships. Currently studying in the psychology department, his mysterious abilities seem perfectly suited for his career choice.

2. The “what are we?” mystery between the leads

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图2

However, it’s not all rainbows and butterflies for Chia Kai. His abilities and his innate desire to help others often get him into difficult situations. One such situation is where the story takes off.

Trying to help a woman named Xiao Yu, he gets into a misunderstanding and is mistaken for the culprit. This leads to a rather non-ideal meet-cute with police officer Da Wei. Maybe it’s all fate, but Chia Kai definitely has a rough night for the sake of it.

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图3

Da Wei is a rational, by-the-book cop who doesn’t believe in fortune telling nor the supernatural. Da Wei thinks Chia Kai’s abilities are a scam and makes it his mission to investigate him and find out the truth.

The real surprise comes soon after their first meeting. Out of nowhere, Chia Kai forms his first connection with none other than the cop who does not believe him. However, the thread is a silvery grey color that he’s never seen before. What could it mean?

3. The peak best-friend energy

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图7

Chia Kai’s abilities aren’t just for spontaneously helping a bystander in distress. With the encouragement of his best friend, he also puts them to profitable work, whether he wants to or not.

At his university, Chia Kai is known as the mascot of the psychic medium club, for which he gives advice to paying visitors, mostly about love, with his best friend, Nan (Lin Da Her). Nan’s the club president (“ring leader” might be more accurate!) who doesn’t mind milking his best pal’s supernatural gifts to make some extra income, which, if you’ve ever lived on your own or attended college, you can’t fault him for.

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图8
5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图9

Chia Kai’s powers get him into all sorts of situations, but his best friend is usually leading the way toward the chaos that follows him. This comedic duo, despite all the trouble they get into, feels like an honest, ride-or-die friendship that you can’t help but admire and laugh at.

About 75 percent of this show’s great humor can be traced back to Nan, so he deserves extra credit. If you’ve seen Lin Da Her in “Secrets in the Hot Spring,” you’re probably already familiar with how well he pulls off slapstick humor and a silly but reliable sidekick role.

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图10

4. Crime-fighting with a Scooby-Doo ensemble

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图11

When the thread appears between Chia Kai and Da Wei, he wants to stick around and uncover what it means, so he offers his assistance in solving cases. Da Wei wants nothing of the sort, but having already proven his intuitions can work, the chief hires Chia Kai as a police consultant.

That means crime-fighting with superpowers is on the agenda, so it feels so fitting that the main characters are very Scooby-Doo coded. Think street chases, poorly chosen disguises, and minor brawls that look like a comedy skit rather than an actual fight.

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图12

Chia Kai has a sixth sense that can be extremely valuable in criminal investigations, and even though not everyone at the police station believes it (namely Da Wei), he’s determined to help people with his gifts. It’s this determination that connects him to Da Wei and another important character, Xiao Yu.

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图13

When the main characters come together, it creates a hilariously odd group: a lovesick girl with a strong punch, a cop who suspects everyone, a timid guy with magical abilities, and his troublemaking, trusty best friend.

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图14

The perfect thing about this show is that there are no perfect characters. Every character is relatable, lovable, and human. Even if this group feels mismatched, the found family is so strong. They’re out to follow threads and solve mysteries, and it’s definitely going to get silly.

5. It’s unseriousness done right

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图15

The premise of sensing relationships and feelings through visible color-coded threads has the potential to be very emotional and enlightening (and it often is), but this show is also an expert on chaotic energy and comedy.

For one, even though he just wants to help, bad luck and sticky situations seem to follow the lead wherever he goes. His best friend doesn’t help in that department either.

5 Reasons To Watch Magical Mystery Taiwanese BL “Connecting To You”插图16

The humor in “Connecting to You” feels akin to “Cherry Magic!” or another recent BL from Taiwan, “Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars.” It’s a different premise, but it’s the same perfect in-between of heartfelt and hilarious.

If you want to know why the lead gets the nickname “Mr. Pervert,” see romantic fortune‑telling gone terribly wrong, and sit in on very unserious friendship team meetings over burgers, you’ll have to watch this show for yourself. Just know that when a thread emerges, or the best friends get scheming, you can expect comedy and chaos to follow.

If this drama is anything, it’s multi-talented: you can expect a watch with comfort, humor, friendship, love, and a little bit of magic.

The story is rooted in the Bodo League Massacre of 1950. After the outbreak of the Korean War, the government rounded up and detained members of the National Bodo League and other individuals it had classified as potential threats. As government forces retreated, many of those detainees were executed without legal process in what is now recognized as a politically motivated mass killing.

Park Seo Joon has been offered the role of Seol Jun Gyeong, a detective who begins uncovering the truth behind the case 24 years after the massacre. A Public Security Bureau detective whose father is under government surveillance, Seol Jun Gyeong has spent his life conforming to the system in pursuit of survival and social advancement. However, as he confronts the hidden truth, he comes face-to-face with the brutal reality of state violence, causing his long-held beliefs to begin unraveling.

Park Hae Il has reportedly been offered the role of another key character, Kim Man Seop, better known as “Grandpa Button.” An enigmatic elderly man who lives as a homeless person outside the Public Security Bureau, he was once the first chief of the Hwayong police substation. Although he appears to be hiding his memories, he possesses sharp insight and formidable strength, making him the pivotal figure who hints at the secret of Hwayong Village to the detective.

The film will be directed by Lee Joon Ik, whose acclaimed works—including “The King and the Clown,” “Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet,” “Anarchist from Colony,” and “The Book of Fish”—have explored human lives and convictions against the backdrop of pivotal moments in Korean history.

Filming is scheduled to begin in October. Stay tuned for further updates!
