Ong Seong Wu Talks About Taking On His First-Ever Villain Role In “Spooky In Love”

Ong Seong Wu has shared his thoughts on his upcoming drama “Spooky in Love”!

A remake of the 2011 film “Spellbound,” “Spooky in Love” is an occult romance drama about the chaotic partnership between Cheon Yeo Ri (Park Eun Bin), a hotel heiress who can see ghosts, and Ma Gang Wook (Yang Se Jong), a passionate prosecutor who is terrified of them.

Returning to the small screen, Ong Seong Wu signals a 180-degree shift from the youthful, fresh-faced image he showed in his previous roles as he takes on the villain Kang Min Hwan.

Ong Seong Wu explained his reason for choosing the project, saying, “Since the original film was widely loved, I was excited about its remake. I thought I could bring new tension to the story through an original character named Kang Min Hwan, who did not appear in the original.”

Kang Min Hwan is a character who hides endless ambition behind a gentle smile. He has a dangerous side driven by a desire for recognition and a sense of lack, and he manipulates other people’s emotions to get what he wants. Taking on his first villain role since his debut, Ong Seong Wu said, “Min Hwan is a character with clear goals. I focused on the reasons behind the character’s actions and their justification in my acting.”

He added, “I’m usually told I have a clean-cut image, but this time I want to show a colder atmosphere. I want viewers to react by saying, ‘So he has this kind of side as well.’”

Finally, he said, “The key point to watch is how Cheon Yeo Ri and Ma Gang Wook work together to solve spooky cases.”

Park Yoon Ho In Talks For Boxer Role Previously Offered To Park Ji Hoon

Rising actor Park Yoon Ho may take on a drama role previously offered to Park Ji Hoon!

On June 10, MyDaily reported that Park Yoon Ho has been selected as the lead of tvN’s upcoming drama “Promoter.”

In response, a representative from his agency INNIT ENTERTAINMENT stated, “Park Yoon Ho is positively reviewing the offer to appear in ‘Promoter.’”

“Promoter” is a human sports drama that tells the story of Shim Young Ja, the world’s first female boxing promoter, and hardworking, self-made genius boxer Jang Jung Goo as they laugh, cry, resent, and support one another on the road to becoming a world champion.

Actress Lee Ha Nee was reported in January to be considering the role of Shim Young Ja, a promoter inspired by a real-life figure, though her casting has yet to be officially confirmed. Park Ji Hoon and Jang Dong Yoon were previously in talks to play boxer Jang Jung Goo, but both actors ultimately declined.

Park Yoon Ho has been offered the role of Jang Jung Goo, a WBC light flyweight boxer. Due to a difficult family background, Jang Jung Goo began wearing boxing gloves at the age of 12. Though he dominates the amateur boxing scene with his natural talent, he repeatedly falls short of victory because of his lack of formal education. After turning professional and catching the attention of Shim Young Ja, he becomes widely known by the nickname “Jjang Goo,” with few people calling him by his real name.

Park Yoon Ho made his acting debut in 2023 with the drama “Night Has Come.” He later appeared in supporting roles in “Study Group,” “Our Unwritten Seoul,” and “Trigger.”

Stay tuned for more updates on the drama!

Watch: Lee Jun Young Brings Chairman Energy To His Intern Role In “Reborn Rookie” Teaser

JTBC’s upcoming drama “Reborn Rookie” has shared a new teaser!

“Reborn Rookie” follows Kang Yong Ho (Son Hyun Joo), the powerful chairman of the leading conglomerate Choi Sung Group, who is revered as a business genius. After an accident, however, he unexpectedly finds himself living a second life when his soul swaps into the youthful body of a soccer player named Hwang Jun Hyun (Lee Jun Young), forcing him to start over as a rookie employee at his own company.

The newly released teaser captures the chaos that ensues from the moment Hwang Jun Hyun first steps into Procurement Team 2. In one scene, his exclamation, “Is this—is this really a company?” hints at the unfamiliar workplace environment and the incidents he will soon face.

From the moment he arrives, the atmosphere Hwang Jun Hyun encounters in Procurement Team 2 is anything but smooth. He is greeted by Park Bong Gi (Lee Sung Wook), a longtime department head with almost no presence, and Kang Bang Geul (Lee Ju Myoung), the chairman’s youngest daughter, who secretly joined Choi Sung Group while hiding her identity. Standing before them, he gives the impression that he has grasped the situation in a short amount of time, quickly reading the department’s internal relationships and the company’s power structure.

However, he is unable to hide the instincts and attitudes he developed while living as a chairman. Forgetting his position as an intern, Hwang Jun Hyun speaks informally to Park Bong Gi, and he also displays a fearless attitude in front of Kang Jae Kyung (Jeon Hye Jin), the president of Choi Sung Chemical, and Kang Jae Sung (Jin Goo), the president of Choi Sung Trading. His reactions, which make it seem as though he is standing on equal footing with the core executives of Choi Sung Group, create unexpected tension within Procurement Team 2 and leave those around him completely speechless.

Watch the teaser below!

“Reborn Rookie” is set to premiere on May 30 at 10:40 p.m. KST.
