Kim Ji Won Is An Unexpected Foodie Outside The Operating Room In New Drama “Doctor X”

The upcoming SBS drama “Doctor X” has unveiled new stills featuring Kim Ji Won in character!

Based on the hit Japanese series of the same name, “Doctor X” is a medical noir drama starring Kim Ji Won as Gye Soo Jung, a genius surgeon who proves what it truly means to be a doctor through pure skill alone as she “operates” on a corruption-ridden establishment.

Gye Soo Jung is a genius surgeon known as the “crazy dog of the operating room.” Obsessed with nothing but surgery, she takes on the corruption at Guseo University Hospital with her overwhelming skill.

However, the newly released stills capture a side of Gye Soo Jung’s daily life that is quite different from her cool-headed demeanor in the operating room. In one still, she holds a banana-flavored milk drink in each hand and drinks from both at the same time.

In another still, she refuses to put down her chopsticks even as her cheeks puff out from stuffing her mouth with food. Her undivided attention to the food in front of her reveals an unexpected side of the meticulous surgeon.

Gye Soo Jung rarely takes an interest in anything outside of surgery, but she simply cannot pass up food. She is a character in whom flawless surgical skills that allow for not even the slightest error coexist with an eccentric appetite. Kim Ji Won will showcase the many charms of Gye Soo Jung as she moves between these contrasting sides.

Director Lee Jung Rim said, “Actress Kim Ji Won naturally portrayed the quirky and human side of Soo Jung. Every time I saw her convincingly move between such vastly different sides within a single character, I found myself wondering, ‘How would this have been portrayed if it weren’t Kim Ji Won?’”

“Doctor X” will premiere on October 9 at 9:50 p.m. KST.

Kim Ji Won Is A Fierce Surgeon Who Is Quirky Outside The Operating Room In “Doctor X”

Kim Ji Won plays Gye Soo Jung, a genius surgeon who solves problems in her own way, unfazed by the power structure at Guseo University Hospital. She demonstrates overwhelming skill in the operating room, but outside it, she is an eccentric yet down-to-earth character.

Taking on the role of a doctor for the first time, Kim Ji Won devoted considerable effort to preparing for the role, including learning the movements required for actual surgical scenes. She said, “I learned the surgical techniques needed for the operating-room scenes from the medical adviser and took sufficient time to become familiar with them.”

Director Lee Jung Rim praised Kim Ji Won’s performance, saying, “Kim Ji Won convincingly moved between the stark contrast in Gye Soo Jung’s character—her overwhelming presence in the operating room and her eccentric, human side outside it. It was difficult to imagine anyone other than Kim Ji Won as Gye Soo Jung. In the surgical scenes, the doctors who served as on-set medical advisers even applauded.”

Her co-star Lee Jung Eun, who plays Jang Hee Sook, also said, “Whenever I made eye contact and acted with Kim Ji Won on set, I felt the emotional lines naturally come together. I thought, ‘As expected, she’s an actress with tremendous depth.’”

Hyun Bin And Woo Do Hwan Face Off In Interrogation Room In “Made In Korea 2”

Upcoming drama “Made in Korea 2” has shared new stills of Hyun Bin and Woo Do Hwan!

The first season of “Made in Korea” followed Baek Ki Tae (Hyun Bin), a man driven by ambition for wealth and power, and prosecutor Jang Geon Young (Jung Woo Sung), who sacrificed everything to stop him, as they confronted a monumental event in the turbulent 1970s.

Set nine years after the Season 1 finale, “Made in Korea 2” follows Baek Ki Tae, now at the peak of power; Jang Geon Young, who has been preparing a counterattack; and Baek Ki Hyun (Woo Do Hwan), who is pursuing a different path to power from his older brother. Their ambitions spiral out of control, shaking things up and creating an irreversible rift.

The newly released stills show the two brothers facing each other in an interrogation room. Baek Ki Hyun gazes at Baek Ki Tae with a serious expression, while Baek Ki Tae, who is being interrogated, remains composed as he confronts his brother. It remains to be seen what incident led the two to end up in the interrogation room.

Hyun Bin described his character Baek Ki Tae by saying, “He’s a character who moves with several different strategies in mind. He constantly adapts his approach to stay on the path he wants, but this gradually creates friction.” Baek Ki Tae’s tendency to make different choices depending on the situation in order to obtain what he wants is expected to remain at the center of the conflicts in this season as well.

The fact that the two brothers have risen to different positions over the past nine years and are now pursuing different goals serves as the starting point for the new story. Attention is focused on what choices Baek Ki Tae, who seeks to protect his power and fulfill even greater ambitions, and Baek Ki Hyun, who has been working toward reaching his own pinnacle, will make.

“Made in Korea 2” will premiere with Episodes 1 and 2 on September 9, followed by two episodes released every Wednesday for a total of six episodes.

First Impressions: BL Drama “Hold On, Harutora‑Kun” Is A Healing Dorm Room Romance

A masked boy who hides everything and a guy who hides nothing become roommates in the new Japanese BL “Hold on, Harutora-Kun,” and it isn’t long before feelings enter the picture. For a genre that has a way of stretching out its milestones, you might be caught off guard by how many things happen in the premiere episodes.

Warning: spoilers from episodes 1 and 2!

Kishida Sui (Nakagawa Tsubasa) is a high school sophomore who keeps a mask on nearly 24/7 to survive dorm life, which hasn’t been friendly to him. Ostracized and constantly jabbed at by the guys in his dorm for being gay, Sui has gotten used to hiding every real feeling he has.

The dorm has quite literally become Sui’s personal prison; he can’t even go enjoy the group bath because of the looks he’d get from the guys who know about him. His bright, bubbly persona is hiding a guy who’s hurting behind the closed doors of his room.

Sui simply can’t be himself around others when his new roommate, Kurobe Harutora (Sakuragi Masaya), comes into his life. Harutora is completely different from everyone else Sui knows at school. He shows up with unfiltered sincerity, surprising honesty, and seemingly no interest in being subtle about it. In Sui’s very own words, Harutora is “serious, kind, and a little bit quirky,” and he’s spot on.

A freshman wanting to join the basketball team, Harutora makes an adorable first impression when he presents a gift and a nervous self-introduction to Sui, who enters the dorm a little taken aback. It’s a huge contrast to the anxiety and darkness that Sui was emanating outside the dorm as he hesitated to open the door.

With tryouts coming up, Harutora asks Sui to come along while he trains as the motivation he needs. Whether that’s entirely true or he secretly just wants to spend more time with Sui is up for debate. As they spend more time together, Sui seems to be getting more comfortable, but watchful eyes are all around, and trouble is definitely lurking.

That trouble comes soon enough when two dorm guys happen to walk in on Sui and Harutora standing close together. It’s all a misunderstanding, but they immediately take it as an opportunity to make fun of Sui and tell Harutora that Sui likes guys. This moment makes it crystal-clear why Sui feels the need to distance himself from other guys at the dorm.

In response, Sui goes on the defensive to spare Harutora from being targeted by the guys. He laughs it off, saying that Harutora isn’t his type; in fact, he likes “party people.” And Harutora walks off, looking uncomfortable and distressed.

First Impressions: BL Drama “Hold On, Harutora‑Kun” Is A Healing Dorm Room Romance插图6

Considering his old roommate did the exact same thing, Sui fears Harutora will leave him without so much as a goodbye because he’s gay. But this serious moment, which was frankly hard to see poor Sui go through, actually leads to a hilarious and surprising outcome.

Instead of coming back to his dorm with Harutora gone, he finds Harutora and a surprise party. The reason Harutora set up the party is that he got caught up in the fact that Sui said he likes party people. Thinking about it now, this is totally the way Harutora would react. Harutora’s genuineness and silly way of being sincere will truly reignite your hope in people and the world.

The impromptu party comes to a quick end, though, because Harutora gives Sui an unplanned first kiss, which comes as a surprise to Sui and apparently to Harutora himself. It looked like Harutora didn’t know what to do with himself after finding out Sui also likes guys. Based on how he reacted during their first meeting, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Harutora’s feelings for Sui have been brewing since day one.

First Impressions: BL Drama “Hold On, Harutora‑Kun” Is A Healing Dorm Room Romance插图9

This is when the mixed signals and the whole “are we just friends or something more?” energy starts creeping in. Harutora might be honest and sincere, but he’s not always the easiest to read, and he’s just a young guy trying to figure out his own feelings too.

Sui has been protecting himself for a long time, so taking off his mask and accepting that someone else could sincerely like him isn’t going to be easy. He might be able to open up in the comfort of his room, but what about in the real world, which isn’t so kind and accepting? The guys in the dorm certainly haven’t shown any signs of redemption yet, and the only person who’s actually been kind to Sui so far is Harutora.

If the kiss in the first episode came as a surprise, then the confessions that come in episode two are a second blow. At any point in the first episodes, you may find yourself wondering if you accidentally skipped a part, but you surely did not. For acting so shy around each other, these two move fast. In many shows, especially Japanese high school BLs, you usually have to wait a good chunk of episodes and lots of back and forth before any progress happens between the leads, but not here.

The big question that the premiere leaves watchers with is whether Harutora will really be able to “hold on.” Harutora is so eager to get closer to Sui, in more ways than one, but Sui has a lot of growth to go through because he’s been hurt so many times before. What Sui needs are baby steps, but does Harutora have it in him to take things slow?

First Impressions: BL Drama “Hold On, Harutora‑Kun” Is A Healing Dorm Room Romance插图12

It’s already clear this story is going to be a lesson in loving and accepting yourself, even when others don’t. That’s probably a lesson everyone can benefit from, whether they need it or someone they know needs it. The dynamic of an eager and earnest freshman who can’t hold back his feelings and a closed-off, timid older student who’s made a habit of hiding is also just an excellent BL setup.

Kim Myung Soo Worries About Kang Min Ah Outside Her Hospital Room In “Love In Sync”

Get ready for an eventful second episode of “Love in Sync”!

“Love in Sync” is a new romantic comedy about a woman who rejects empathy and a man burdened with too much of it. When they begin to share one another’s emotions through a supernatural phenomenon, they both embark on a journey of learning.

Spoilers

On the first episode of “Love in Sync,” Cha Eun Hwan (INFINITE’s Kim Myung Soo) witnessed his new client Yoo Ji An (Kang Min Ah) suffering a panic attack. When Cha Eun Hwan briefly stepped outside to take a call, the power went out in the building, leaving a panicking Yoo Ji An trapped inside his dark office.

Recalling that Yoo Ji An experienced intense fear when left alone on rainy days, Cha Eun Hwan rushed back to his office and managed to break down the malfunctioning door in order to reach her. Just as she lost consciousness, Yoo Ji An fell forward and unexpectedly kissed Cha Eun Hwan.

In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming second episode, a worried Cha Eun Hwan lingers outside Yoo Ji An’s hospital room, unable to hide his concern after her panic attack.

Unaware of this, Yoo Ji An is lost in thought in her hospital bed as she recalls her first encounter with Cha Eun Hwan, a man who seemed to see right through her.
