5 Best K-Drama Crying Scenes That Hit Hard

K-dramas are known for sweeping romances and emotional storytelling, but it’s often the most vulnerable moments that leave the deepest impact. When a lead lets their guard down and tears fall, it reveals something deeply human that’s impossible to forget.

Here are a few of the many most memorable scenes.

Warning: spoilers for the dramas below.

1. Lee Junho in “The Red Sleeve”

5 Best K-Drama Crying Scenes That Hit Hard插图

“The Red Sleeve” is a historical K-drama that tells the story of an emperor named Yi San (Lee Junho) who falls in love with a court lady named Seong Deok Im (Lee Se Young). Despite their differences in class and status, the two engage in a deep romance while trying to fight for their nation.

The series is filled with emotional moments, but it’s the ending that hits hardest. After Deok Im’s passing, Lee Junho delivers one of the most devastating performances in the entire drama. His grief isn’t restrained, it completely overtakes him. He’s not just crying, he’s undone, mourning the woman he loved and the life they never got to live. It lingers long after the scene ends.

2. Ji Chang Wook in “Lovestruck in the City”

5 Best K-Drama Crying Scenes That Hit Hard插图1

Park Jae Won (Ji Chang Wook), a passionate architect, can’t get over a mysterious woman who took his heart and his camera. Lee Eun Oh (Kim Ji Won), an ordinary woman, begins living as the carefree Yun Seon Ah and catches his attention. But due to unexpected circumstances, Eun Oh is forced to walk away from Jae Won, only for their paths to cross again later.

Few performances capture heartbreak as messily and honestly as Ji Chang Wook here. His character clings to memories that no longer exist, unable to let go. When everything finally spills out after one too many drinks, the result is one of the rawest emotional scenes in the series. It’s messy, aching, and painfully real, carrying all the frustration and longing he’s been holding in.

3. Son Ye Jin in “Thirty-Nine”

“Thirty-Nine” follows three best friends on the edge of turning 40 as they navigate life, love, and loss together. Their bond holds them through every high and low, especially as one of them faces a devastating illness that changes everything.

Son Ye Jin carries much of the emotional weight of the story, but it’s the moment her best friend passes that truly breaks everything open. Her reaction feels unfiltered, like grief arriving all at once with no time to prepare. The shock, pain, and heartbreak hit simultaneously, and her tears say everything she can’t.

4. Park Hyung Sik in “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon”

“Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” stars Park Bo Young as an aspiring game maker who was born with super strength. She meets Ahn Min Hyuk (Park Hyung Sik), the CEO of a game company who happens to be in need of a bodyguard. He ends up hiring Do Bong Soon with the added bonus of letting her develop a game while she works for him.

Known for his charm and lighthearted energy, Park Hyung Sik shows surprising emotional depth here. His most powerful crying scene comes as Min Hyuk desperately tries to save Bong Soon, trapped behind a locked door with a bomb strapped to her. Panic and fear take over, stripping away his usual composure. That contrast makes the moment hit even harder, turning a rom-com scene into something unexpectedly heartbreaking.

5. Park Bo Gum in “Good Boy”

In “Good Boy,” Park Bo Gum delivers crying scenes that feel completely real. As his character begins to lose his sight, his emotions surface all at once, driven by fear, frustration, and the weight of what he’s about to lose. You can feel the panic in the moments where he realizes his vision is slipping, and it makes every tear hit harder. It’s that unfiltered vulnerability that makes his performance so believable and impossible to shake.

In one especially heartbreaking moment, Yoon Dong Ju (Park Bo Gum) is speaking with Kim Jong Hyun (Lee Sang Yi) when everything suddenly becomes blurred. As he realizes he is going blind, panic sets in. His eyes fill with tears as he admits he can no longer see anything. It’s a moment that captures fear, shock, and helplessness all at once, making his vulnerability impossible to ignore.

Watch: IU And Byeon Woo Seok Perfect Their Waltz And Kiss Scenes On Set Of “Perfect Crown”

MBC’s “Perfect Crown” has shared a new behind-the-scenes video for episode 6!

In the newly released making-of video, IU shares, “We practiced yesterday and last week. Honestly, we’ve only practiced twice.” Explaining that their teacher taught them well, she playfully adds, “I’m doing a good job.”

While rehearsing the waltz, IU tells Byeon Woo Seok the various tips she learned from their dance teacher, such as how to bow and get pulled in. The two struggle to hold in their laughter throughout practice.

When asked what they thought about their waltz chemistry, Byeon Woo Seok answers. “It’s practically perfect.” IU honestly answers, “I was a bit nervous yesterday—I felt a bit stiff. But dancing for the second time today….” As she drifts off, both IU and Byeon Woo Seok jokingly answer, “It’s as if we’ve been dancing together all our lives,” even giving a demonstration in front of the camera.

After filming the waltz scene, the making-of camera asks the lead actors which partner they felt more compatible with when dancing. Gong Seung Yeon picks Noh Sang Hyun as he appears next to her, however, she whispers and mouths to the camera that her actual answer is Byeon Woo Seok.

Meanwhile, Byeon Woo Seok hilariously picks Noh Sang Hyun, while Noh Sang Hyun comments, “I think I’m the problem.” Byeon Woo Seok further states, “Hui Ju (IU) was gentle while Irang (Gong Seung Yeon) was sharp.” IU concludes by sharing, “I didn’t work well with either of them. The two must have also felt the same about me. We honestly all don’t know about waltz, so we can’t talk about chemistry yet. Both were difficult.”

Furthermore, the cast and crew surprise Byeon Woo Seok on his birthday with a cake and flowers. IU jokingly pretends to throw the cake at Byeon Woo Seok, drawing laughter. Child actor Kim Eun Ho sweetly sings Byeon Woo Seok a birthday song and passes out candy.

The making-of video ends with a behind-the-scenes look at IU and Byeon Woo Seok’s romantic kiss scene, which is filled with smiles and laughter as they perfect the timing.

Watch: Kim Hyang Gi, Cha Hak Yeon, And More Give Their All While Filming Comedic Scenes For “Absolute Value Of Romance”

The set of “Absolute Value of Romance” is full of laughter!

In the new behind-the-scenes video, Kim Hyang Gi and Cha Hak Yeon rehearse their movements to portray Ga Wu Su (Cha Hak Yeon) stealing a look at Yeo Eui Ju’s (Kim Hyang Gi) laptop. The two suggest comical ideas, giving it their all—even nearly falling down—to create a hilarious scene.

In the scene with Cha Hak Yeon, Kim Jae Hyun, Sohn Jeong Hyuck, and Kim Dong Gyu, the four have trouble holding in their laughter. Kim Jae Hyun even adds an ad-lib to make the scene more realistic and funny.

Although the director wonders if Yeo Eui Ju would be able to write her novel with Ga Wu Su watching over her, Cha Hak Yeon playfully comments that his character wouldn’t mind watching her write. Throughout filming, the cast can’t help but laugh at the portrayal of their characters, creating a light-hearted atmosphere on set.

“Yumi’s Cells 3” Reveals Adorable Glimpse Of Kim Go Eun And Kim Jae Won’s Real-Life Chemistry Behind The Scenes

tvN’s “Yumi’s Cells 3” has shared a cute glimpse behind the scenes of filming!

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “Yumi’s Cells” tells the story of an ordinary office worker named Yumi (Kim Go Eun)—from the point of view of the many brain cells in her head controlling her every thought, feeling, and action. In Season 3, Kim Jae Won plays Yumi’s new love interest Soon Rok, an editorial PD at Julie Publishing.

Although their characters get off on the wrong foot in “Yumi’s Cells 3,” newly released behind-the-scenes photos reveal that Kim Go Eun and Kim Jae Won’s real-life dynamic is far from antagonistic.

In one photo, Kim Jae Won thoughtfully shields Kim Go Eun from the sun with his hand; in another, they playfully joke around while talking to the director between takes. The two co-stars can also be seen posing for photos together when the cameras aren’t rolling.

Yet another photo captures the memorable moment when Yumi and Soon Rok brushed hands at the Busan train station, which made not only Yumi’s but also viewers’ hearts flutter.

Check out all the new behind-the-scenes photos of Kim Go Eun, Kim Jae Won, Jeon Seok Ho, and Choi Daniel below!

The “Yumi’s Cells 3” production team teased, “In Episodes 5 and 6, as Ju Ho aggressively pursues Yumi, Soon Rok will also begin to change. Please look forward to seeing what kind of variable Ju Ho will introduce into the relationship between Yumi, who has feelings for Soon Rok, and Soon Rok, who has started to change because of Yumi.”

The fifth episode of “Yumi’s Cells 3” will be released on April 27 at 6 p.m. KST.

Watch: IU And Byeon Woo Seok Perfect Their Romantic And Comedic Scenes On Set Of “Perfect Crown”

MBC’s “Perfect Crown” has unveiled a new behind-the-scenes video for episode 4!

The new making-of video takes viewers behind the scenes of IU and Byeon Woo Seok’s first kiss scene. Byeon Woo Seok helps IU cool down with an electric fan and sweetly removes dust from her face. Byeon Woo Seok comments, “I think we’ve filmed for at least five hours, so I think it will come out nicely based on the time put in, and Hui Ju (IU) looks so pretty.”

While contemplating how to film a scene, IU shows that she can fold her tongue, and Byeon Woo Seok quickly responds in similar fashion, much to IU’s amusement.

After filming the pitching scene, Noh Sang Hyun shares, “Honestly, I have not played baseball once in my life.” He adds, “I did my best, but the results feel a little lacking.” Nevertheless, Noh Sang Hyun throws a smooth pitch for the perfect take.

When the making-of interviewer asks how IU makes the scenes so adorable, IU jokingly remarks, “I was just born cute. I don’t think there is any special technique.”

After filming the tag game scene, IU reveals, “I gave the idea saying that it would be nice for Jeong Woo (Noh Sang Hyun) to be it, but Jeong Woo looks like a wolf. With the bunny eye mask, he looked even scarier—I thought it would be cute! Jeong Woo’s nose bridge is also high, so there’s a gap between the mask, and he could see us all if he tilts his head. We were all so scared, so we ran until we were sweating.”

The making-of video ends by showing how the final car chase scene in episode 4 was filmed safely with computer graphics and a green screen.
