CORTIS Announced As 1st Players For Mnet’s Idol Horror Show “SUMBAKKOKJIL 2”
Mnet Plus has announced the first players for Season 2 of its horror variety show “SUMBAKKOKJIL” (literally meaning “hide-and-seek” in Korean)!
On July 20, Mnet Plus revealed that CORTIS will be the first players on “SUMBAKKOKJIL 2.”
“SUMBAKKOKJIL” is a “survival” variety show in which K-pop idols play a chilling game of hide-and-seek and attempt to evade a mysterious “seeker” for 4,444 seconds. Season 1 featured a total of eight groups as guests: TREASURE, NCT WISH, RIIZE, ZEROBASEONE, TXT, ALLDAY PROJECT, TWS, and BOYNEXTDOOR.
While Season 1 built suspense through the fear of an unseen presence lurking in the dark, Season 2 will introduce a story-driven format inspired by well-known urban legends and ghost stories. Rather than simply hiding from an unidentified “seeker,” participants will take on roles within each story as they try to escape an unknown space.
In the newly released poster for CORTIS’s episode, the eerie caption reads, “Don’t look into the water for too long,” hinting at the ghost story awaiting the members.
The first episode of “SUMBAKKOKJIL 2” will premiere on Mnet Plus on July 31 at 6 p.m. KST, before airing on Mnet on August 1 at 11 p.m. KST.

The script reading session for “New Recruit 4” has been unveiled!
Based on the hit animation of the same name, “New Recruit” is a black comedy drama that explores the lives of young adults in their 20s, delving into the culture, secrets, and absurdities of South Korea’s military.
Season 4 will depict the second half of Park Min Seok’s (Kim Min Ho) dynamic military life as he is promoted to corporal and finds himself facing endless new dilemmas. Just when he thought things would settle after his promotion, the arrival of a mysterious new recruit and a new battalion commander signals the start of a turbulent new chapter.
First, Kim Min Ho once again delivers an outstanding performance as Park Min Seok, the “military-spooned” corporal who tries to subtly slip into the ranks of the senior soldiers.
Kim Dong Jun returns as Jeon Se Gye, a national actor who has evolved from a “superstar” into a “military star” perfectly adapted to life in the barracks. Oh Dae Hwan takes on the role of Company Commander Jo Baek Ho, the “human vitamin” who leads the second Company with love, serving as the anchor for the series.
Lee Hyun Kyun delivers a passionate performance as the whirlwind Battalion Commander Byun Hyuk Jin, who heralds massive changes under the banner of “advanced barracks culture.”
The role of the mysterious new recruit Kim Hyun Wook, whose true intentions are impossible to read, is played by Lee Won Jung.
The production team stated, “A massive ‘sabotage’ will begin, shaking up the peace that Park Min Seok had finally found after stepping into the ranks of the senior soldiers. Unexpected crises that threaten the order of the barracks will deliver even more powerful laughter and relatability.” They added, “Please look forward to the upgraded chemistry of the ‘New Recruit’ cast and their even more dynamic life in the military.”

Get ready for a new and upgraded Season 2 of Mnet Plus variety show “SUMBAKKOKJIL”!
CJ ENM’s global K-pop content platform Mnet Plus has announced that its popular horror-themed variety show “SUMBAKKOKJIL” will be returning for a second season in July.
“SUMBAKKOKJIL” is a “survival” variety show in which K-pop idols play an eerie game of hide-and-seek and attempt to evade a mysterious “seeker” for 4,444 seconds. Season 1 featured a total of eight groups as guests: TREASURE, NCT WISH, RIIZE, ZEROBASEONE, TXT, ALLDAY PROJECT, TWS, and BOYNEXTDOOR.
Unlike the simple format of Season 1, which created its tension through the visceral fear of an unseen presence lurking in the dark, Season 2 will feature a story-based format that incorporates well-known urban legends and ghost stories. Instead of merely hiding and running away from an unidentified “seeker,” the participants must become characters within a story and escape an unknown space.
“We designed this season to go beyond a simple survival game, so that players could experience the feeling of having personally stepped inside the world of an urban legend,” said the “SUMBAKKOKJIL” Season 2 production team. “Please also look forward to finding out who the first player to step into this even more immersive narrative will be.”
Although “SUMBAKKOKJIL 2” has not yet revealed its premiere date, the first episode of the show will be released sometime in July.

Red Velvet’s reality show “Level Up Project” is returning for a new season!
On July 15, Red Velvet unveiled the group poster for “Level Up Project 6,” announcing the upcoming season.
First aired in 2017, “Level Up Project” has continued to receive love from fans in Korea and around the world by showcasing Red Velvet’s natural charm.
Returning after about four years, this season will feature Red Velvet, which is celebrating its 12th anniversary since debut, as the members enjoy a special one-day vacation and take on various team-building missions. Through these activities, the show is expected to offer a chance to see the group’s teamwork, variety show skills, and honest appeal.
Meanwhile, Red Velvet is set to release their summer mini album “Velvet Summer” on August 3.
With a total of three episodes, “Level Up Project 6” will premiere on August 14, with new episodes released every Friday at 8 p.m. KST on Mnet and Wavve. Each episode will also be available on Red Velvet’s official YouTube channel one week after its broadcast.

“Murder Club” is an AI mystery deduction game show where Korea’s top celebrities visit a mysterious club that transforms anyone into a suspect in an epic murder case. Each episode features a new setting and era, and every participant acts as both a unique player and a suspect, engaging in a fierce psychological battle that blends lying, cover-ups, acting, and deduction to identify the single culprit.
Notably, “AI” is the show’s primary weapon. The AI-generated murder case episodes provide a realistic level of immersion as if the actual cast members are reenacting the crime, promising a different kind of fun compared to existing mystery variety shows.
Furthermore, a variety of guests add to the spectacle. The participant lineup includes travel YouTuber Pani Bottle, pro gamer Faker; comedians Choi Yang Rak and Uhm Ji Yoon, actor Shin Sung Rok, former civil servant Kim Seon Tae, TVXQ’s Changmin, baseball player Kim Hyun Soo, TXT’s Beomgyu, and Chef Park Joo Sung from “Culinary Class Wars.” Using their individual strengths—such as cool-headed judgment, sharp deduction, and exceptional wit—they will engage in unpredictable psychological warfare.

A romance reality show with a new format is coming!
SBS’s new variety show “Love Against Time” is a romance reality program where young people in their 20s and 30s who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness or have had near-death experiences face life and love once again.
Starting from the profound question, “If I didn’t have much time left, who would I love?” the program focuses on “love in the present.” Notably, “Love Against Time” introduces a unique matching system where men and women exchange “time” with each other every night.
Actress Lee Se Young, CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa, SEVENTEEN’s DK, and Yena have teamed up as studio MCs.
Producing director Lee Eun Sol, who directed “Fortune Tellers’ Love,” will be in charge of directing “Love Against Time.” Lee Eun Sol stated, “I wanted to sincerely capture the extraordinary and special sincerity of young people, who know the finiteness of life better than anyone else, as they love as passionately and brilliantly as they can during the time they are given.”
