“A Bona Fide Killer” Stars Say Goodbye + Talk About What The Drama Meant To Them
With MBC’s “A Bona Fide Killer” winding to a close, the stars of the drama have shared their final thoughts!
On September 13, the hit drama ended on the highest viewership ratings of its entire run.
Looking back on her experience filming the drama, Kong Hyo Jin remarked, “[‘A Bona Fide Killer’] is a drama that taught me the satisfaction of taking on a new challenge. I was so happy that our viewers gave us so much love and made all of that hard work worth it.”
“I hope that this remains a rewarding and happy memory for me and the ‘A Bona Fide Killer’ team that sailed this long journey together with me,” she continued, “and I’d like to thank everyone once again.”
Addressing the drama’s viewers directly, Kong Hyo Jin went on, “To everyone who discovered a new side of Kong Hyo Jin through the character of Yu Bo Na and cheered me on, I’d like to ask you to please look forward to the other sides of myself that I will show you in the future.”
Jung Jun Won commented, “I was happy to have been able to be a part of such a great drama. I think that even after time has passed, [this drama] will remain engraved in my heart as a memory when I look back on it.”
“I really learned and grew a lot while filming this drama, so I think I’ll remember it as an especially precious memory,” continued the actor. “I’m sincerely grateful to everyone who related to and laughed along with us, and I will greet you again with a good performance in another project.”
Finally, Lee Sang Yi remarked, “I’m happy that I was able to successfully wrap up a drama that I had fun filming. For me, ‘A Bona Fide Killer’ is a drama that captures a relentless, never-ending chase.”
Expressing his gratitude to the show’s viewers, he went on, “Thank you for showing love for ‘A Bona Fide Killer’ during this especially hot summer. Dong Jin will probably keep going with his investigations without resting, and just like Dong Jin’s passion, I hope that viewers will also always be full of energy and spirit without getting exhausted.”

As a rom-com fan, I’ve been increasingly exploring the vast world of C-dramas over the past few years and have discovered many gems, but I think the one that I love the most is “When I Fly Towards You.” It’s a very heartwarming romance about the bubbly Zai Zai (Zhang Miao Yi) and the aloof Zhang Lu Rang (Zhou Yi Ran), telling their story from high school through early adulthood. If you’re like me and prefer dramas with minimal conflict and toxicity, “When I Fly Towards You” is such a sweet and comforting drama that is definitely worth checking out!

Winnie: “Love for You”
I’ve watched a lot of C-dramas, but my favorite C-drama recently is “Love for You.” The original Chinese title actually means “Wild Dog and the Bone,” and I think that’s what makes this story so special. Chen Yi (Song Wei Long) is like a wild dog, always acting tough to survive, while Miao Jing (Zhang Jing Yi) is like the bone that gives him a reason to keep going. They both pretend to be strong in a difficult world, but in the end they only really have each other. I really love how their relationship slowly grows with so much trust and understanding instead of big dramatic moments. It’s a touching romance that has continued to stay with me even after the finale!

Sala: “The Untamed”
One of the first C-dramas I ever watched was “The Untamed,” and it was an exceptional drama to introduce the expansive world of C-dramas. “The Untamed” follows a resurrected Wei Wu (Xiao Zhan) as he rekindles his bond with Lan Wang Ji (Wang Yi Bo), working together to resolve the truth behind mysterious murders and the dark leaders orchestrating the evil events. In addition to being impressed by actors Xiao Xhan and Wang Yi Bo in their breakout roles, the drama captivated me with the complex storytelling, intricate styling, and beautiful settings. “The Untamed” is a must-watch if you love a story full of action and suspense—and the moving bond between characters is the biggest selling point of the drama!

Julia: “Speed and Love”
My favorite is “Speed and Love,” a fun C-drama that has a little bit of everything—romance, action, and racing. It follows a young woman searching for her adopted older brother, only to find him living a completely different life as a race driver and boxer. From there, the story takes you into a world full of fast cars, unexpected twists, and romance. What I like most about this drama is that it never feels slow. The racing scenes keep things exciting, but the characters and their relationships are just as fun to watch. “Speed and Love” is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a drama that’s easy to get into and keeps you wanting to watch until the end.

Jinny: “Go Go Squid!”
“Go Go Squid!” is a classic that first got me into watching C-dramas. Although esports is more of a common theme in C-dramas, it felt very fresh when I first watched this rom-com, which is about pro gamer Hang Shang Yan (Li Xian) and programming student Tong Nian (Yang Zi). I love how Shang Yan is so cool, reserved, and passionate about his team and dreams, while Tong Nian is adorable and brings so much charm and energy to the story. The chemistry between the leads makes this drama especially memorable for me, and it remains one of my nostalgic favorites. If you’re looking for your first C-drama to watch, I’d happily recommend “Go Go Squid!” to start off!

Somni: “Go Ahead”
One of my favorite C-dramas is “Go Ahead,” which I first discovered when a friend told me it was the original series behind the K-drama “Family by Choice.” What I love most is watching Li Jian Jian (Tan Song Yun), Ling Xiao (Song Wei Long), and He Zi Qiu (Zhang Xin Cheng) grow up together like siblings although they are not related by blood. Their little family feels warm and ordinary in the best way: sharing meals, teasing each other, arguing over silly things, and always coming home to the same people. As they grow older and their complicated pasts begin to catch up with them, the story becomes more emotional, but it never loses that sense of warmth.

A very recent K-drama that has already become one of my favorites, “Dream to You” is about the reunion of film director Woo Soo Bin (Hwang In Youp), who returns after achieving his dreams, and reporter Ju Yi Jae (Hyeri), who has forgotten her own. Although Yi Jae is upset at first when they reunite, they rekindle their romance as they chase the mutual dream they had to let go in high school. What I love about this romance is how Soo Bin and Yi Jae help each other heal and grow in so many ways as they work to overcome obstacles in their personal and work lives. It’s such a beautiful love story that truly captures the essence of what makes the reunion romance trope so great!

Sala: “Motel California”
When it comes to reunion romance, “Motel California” comes to my mind. In “Motel California,” Lee Se Young portrays Ji Kang Hee, a rural girl who grew up in a motel called Motel California. After spending a fateful night with her first love and childhood friend Cheon Yeon Soo (Na In Woo), she escapes her hometown to make a name for herself in the city. What really sells the drama is the moments of waiting for their heartfelt reunion as well as Na In Woo’s portrayal of Cheon Yeon Soo yearning for his first and only love. It’s an emotional reunion that really pulls at the heartstrings!

Winnie: “Last Summer“
I think a drama that is the perfect example of a good reunion romance is “Last Summer,” which tells the story of childhood sweethearts Baek Do Ha (Lee Jae Wook) and Song Ha Gyeong (Choi Sung Eun) who reunite after a long time apart. They grew up as next-door neighbors, sharing everyday moments and memories of youth. Years later, a lot has changed when Do Ha returns as a successful architect and decides to live with Ha Gyeong for the summer. It’s the kind of slow-burn romance that draws you in little by little, and their endless bickering filled with romantic tension ensure that there is never a dull moment.

Byun Yo Han, Roh Jae Won, And Ayaka Miyoshi Talk About Their Upcoming Film “Tazza 4: The Song Of Beelzebub”
The main cast of the upcoming film “Tazza 4: The Song of Beelzebub” recently took part in a photo shoot with Harper’s BAZAAR Korea!
Returning with a new installment six years after the previous film, “Tazza 4: The Song of Beelzebub” follows Jang Tae Young (Byun Yo Han), who thought he had everything after building a thriving online casino empire, until his best friend Park Tae Young (Roh Jae Won) takes everything from him. When fate reunites them in the world of global gambling, the former friends face off in a high-stakes game of revenge.
In the interview that followed the photo shoot, Byun Yo Han recalled the moment he first read the script. He shared, “I felt a lot of pressure when I was first offered the project. But after reading the script, I said I would do it just two hours later. The movie played out vividly in my head.”
He continued, “After deciding to join the cast, I texted Cho Seung Woo, who starred in the first installment of ‘Tazza.’ I told him, ‘It’s a big responsibility, but I’ll do my best to make it great,’ and he replied with a line from Madam Jeong (played by Kim Hye Soo) in ‘Tazza’: ‘What’s past is past.’ It was his way of encouraging me to have fun and do a good job since this was a new film. I sent him the message to reassure myself, but thanks to him, I gained courage.”
Roh Jae Won, who plays Jang Tae Young’s best friend and rival in the film, said, “While acting, I was reminded of ‘Amadeus.’ The story of Mozart and Salieri was created a long time ago, but it is still incredibly powerful today. I thought our movie was that kind of story as well. Haven’t we all, at some point, loved a friend who was better than us while also feeling jealous of them? It’s a feeling that hurts more because you care about them and makes you feel more insignificant because you love them. I thought Park Tae Young was a character who embodied those emotions.”
Ayaka Miyoshi, who is making her Korean film debut with “Tazza 4: The Song of Beelzebub,” expressed her special affection for her character Kaneko. She remarked, “I think Kaneko’s line, ‘Do you want to be on the same side as me?’ is really memorable. Her aura is one thing, but the line is also convincing because she is a woman who has been through many different experiences. Kaneko is extremely clever and a character who moves forward with strong determination to achieve her goals, but that doesn’t mean she is devoid of love. I was drawn to that human side of her.”
20 years have passed since the first installment of “Tazza” was released in 2006. Reflecting on what makes the “Tazza” series special in 2026, Byun Yo Han pointed to its “essence.” He explained, “‘Tazza’ is ultimately a story about people. Whether it’s hwatu (Korean flower cards) or poker, those are merely tools. There are provocative elements such as competition and betrayal, but at its heart, the series vividly captures the most fundamental emotions of human beings.”

Namkoong Min Watches From Above As Police Talk To Lee Seol In “The Husband”
“The Husband” has unveiled new stills ahead of its upcoming episode!
“The Husband” is a thriller that follows Kang Tae Joo (Namkoong Min), a man who becomes entangled in a desperate battle against a dangerous criminal after his wife is kidnapped just before their divorce.

Previously, Episode 10 revealed Choi Chi Woong’s (Woo Ji Hyun) connection to the case when, while being strangled by Noh Man Hee (Kim Dae Myeung), he declared, “Who else besides me can save your wife?” exposing him as the mastermind behind the incident. The remaining episodes will also reveal why Choi Chi Woong has been trying to kill Kang Tae Joo.
The upcoming episode will feature a long-awaited face-off between Kang Tae Joo and Choi Chi Woong. Newly released stills capture the two confronting each other in a hospital hallway.
Other stills show police officers arriving at We Together Hospital. As Go Se Yoon (Lee Seol) speaks with Jang Do Sik (Lee Seok), the head of Seongjeon Police Station’s investigation team, other officers search the area while Kang Tae Joo watches everything unfold from the second floor.
Another set of stills captures Cha Myung Hee (Jo Yun Seo) confronting Choi Chi Woong in a tense standoff, visibly furious with him. Questions surrounding Cha Myung Hee only deepened in the previous episode, which revealed that she was the prime suspect in Ha Jung Soo’s (Jeon Kwang Jin) death and had known Kim Kyung Ae (Lee Sang Hee). As she attempted to flee, Noh Man Hee suddenly appeared and greeted her with, “It’s been a while. Have you been well?”—raising even more questions about the relationship between the two.
The next episode of “The Husband” airs on August 8 at 9:20 p.m. KST.

Kong Hyo Jin and Jung Jun Won, the lead stars of the recently released drama “A Bona Fide Killer,” have teamed up for a pictorial and interview with ELLE Korea!
“A Bona Fide Killer” is an action drama about a working mother with a lethal job who is fighting to protect her work-life balance. Kong Hyo Jin stars as Yu Bo Na, a legendary sniper known as “Kingfisher,” while Jung Jun Won plays Kwon Tae Sung, Bo Na’s husband and a news reporter tasked with uncovering the truth behind Kingfisher’s return.
The two actors shared their affection for the project. Kong Hyo Jin said, “’A Bona Fide Killer’ felt like a superhero story to me.” She continued, “I was drawn to Bo Na’s character because she’s a mother, wife, and daughter-in-law who also lives a completely different life as a killer.”
Jung Jun Won also reflected on the drama, saying, “From Tae Sung’s perspective, this is ultimately a story about family.” He added, “I focused on understanding the character through his love for his family and his determination to protect the people who matter most to him.”
When asked why she chose the project, Kong Hyo Jin explained, “I found the way each episode introduces a new case and gradually resolves it to be very engaging.” She further shared, “Beyond the satisfying good-versus-evil narrative, I think mothers, married women, and even those preparing for marriage will relate to Bo Na’s way of life and find it cathartic.”
Jung Jun Won remarked, “The script was so entertaining that I thought I would want to watch it even if I weren’t part of the cast.” He added that the opportunity to work with Kong Hyo Jin was one of the biggest reasons he decided to join the drama, saying, “I trusted that no matter what kind of performance I gave, she’d naturally embrace it.”
The two actors also had warm words for one another. Jung Jun Won said, “I don’t usually express it, but her presence alone gave me tremendous strength. I knew she was incredibly passionate about her acting, so I felt reassured throughout our time working together.”
Kong Hyo Jin returned the praise, saying, “He is an actor with endless charm. The moment you see his performance, you immediately think, ‘He’s good.’ I don’t think there’s a greater strength for an actor than that.”

It can make you laugh one minute and cry the next, but everything feels very natural.

Hwang Jung Min, Zo In Sung, And Jung Ho Yeon Talk About Their Upcoming Film “HOPE”
The main cast of the upcoming film “HOPE” recently participated in a photoshoot with ELLE Korea!
“HOPE” follows Bum Seok (Hwang Jung Min), the chief of a police substation in Hopo Port, a village located near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). After local youths report a tiger sighting, Bum Seok and the entire village, including a young hunter named Sung Ki (Zo In Sung), are thrown into a state of emergency as they find themselves facing an unimaginable reality. The film, which has been invited to the main competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, is helmed by director Na Hong Jin, who has received rave reviews for masterpieces including “The Chaser,” “The Yellow Sea,” and “The Wailing.”
In an interview following the shoot, Hwang Jung Min, who plays Bum Seok, described “HOPE” as a very unique project unlike anything he has ever seen before. He shared, “It was very refreshing to see a familiar setting, like a rural Korean village, coexist with an unfamiliar extraterrestrial being.”
He continued, “The way the massive scale blends with characters who feel so ordinary is also fascinating,” adding, “‘HOPE’ is not simply about chasing and being chased. The way we view these alien life forms ultimately reflects how we view unfamiliar beings in our own world today.”
Zo In Sung, who plays Sung Ki, a young hunter tracking the creature that attacked the village, reflected on the filming process, saying, “To create something we’d never seen before, all the actors and crew mustered their courage and tried everything without regret. Under the clear direction of director Na Hong Jin, we only had to keep moving forward.”
He also explained the meaning of “HOPE” as portrayed in the film, saying, “Hope does not come to those who do nothing. It comes to those who give their best, those who desperately hold on, and those who strive until the very end.”
Jung Ho Yeon, who plays Sung Ae, a principled police officer, expressed her deep affection for the project. She remarked, “I still remember the day I first received the script. Right after reading it, I wrote my name under the title ‘HOPE.’ I truly wanted to be part of this project, and I was honored to ultimately become ‘Sung Ae.’”
She added, “Actors Hwang Jung Min and Zo In Sung showed me firsthand how an actor should behave on set. I was incredibly happy to be able to work alongside them on the set of my dreams.”

For K-drama fans, 2016 was an absolutely golden year with so many dramas that are still talked about to this day! As a decade has passed now, we took this chance to look back on some of our favorite K-dramas from 2016 for this edition of Soompi & Viki Staff Talk.

Somni: “Descendants of the Sun”
A true icon of 2016, “Descendants of the Sun” remains one of the most unforgettable K-drama experiences that I’ve had so far. Starring Song Joong Ki as the soldier Yoo Si Jin and Song Hye Kyo as doctor Kang Mo Yeon, the drama perfectly blends romance, action, and emotional storytelling set against high-stakes humanitarian missions. Equally captivating is the chemistry between the sub couple Seo Dae Young (Jin Goo) and First Lieutenant Yoon Myung Joo (Kim Ji Won), whose intense, slow-burn romance adds another layer of depth. Rewatching the series now, it still delivers the same thrill, butterflies, and tears even a decade later!

Deanne: “Another Miss Oh”
For those of us who were K-drama fans in 2016, “Another Miss Oh” was a drama we didn’t just watch—we sat with it, replayed scenes over and over again, and let it ruin our sleep schedules in the best way! Oh Hae Young (Seo Hyun Jin) isn’t the typical polished character we were used to at the time, which made her all the more memorable—expressive, flawed, and refreshingly real. Paired with Park Do Kyung (Eric), whose guarded nature gradually softens throughout the series, this drama gives us a love story that feels raw rather than idealized. For anyone craving a 2016 throwback, I definitely recommend “Another Miss Oh.” It’s a perfect rom-com that blends humor with pure emotion, capturing messy yet truthful love that lingers with you long after the final episode!

It’s hard to believe that “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo” is already celebrating its 10th anniversary! A decade later, the drama still feels just as fresh, heartfelt, and comforting as ever. What truly makes it unforgettable is the sparkling chemistry between Kim Bok Joo and Jung Joon Hyung, brought to life so effortlessly by Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk. Their playful bickering, heart-fluttering confessions, and soft, supportive moments capture the sweetness of first love in the most natural and adorable way, and their romance remains one of K-drama’s cutest love stories. As a 2016 throwback, “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” is a drama with a very loyal fandom that has only grown stronger over time. IU as Hae Soo appears bright and lively at first, but as the story progresses, the tone turns devastatingly sad. The character goes through intense character development as she endures repeated loss, which gives the drama its lasting emotional weight. Add to that a stacked lineup of actors playing Goryeo princes—each with distinct personalities and tragic arcs—and it’s easy to see why everyone who watches this drama gets so attached. This drama has become one of my lifelong favorites as it’s the kind of series that lingers deeply in your heart forever!

Jinny: “Dear Fair Lady Kong Shim”
“Dear Fair Lady Kong Shim” is a drama I loved in 2016 and still do ten years later! What I love about the series is the rare, warm charm that feels both chaotic and comforting at the same time. From the very first episode, the way Ahn Dan Tae (Namkoong Min) crashes into the life of Kong Shim (Bang Minah)—literally kicking the flowerpot she drops and becoming her rooftop tenant—sets up a relationship that feels organic and messy. The drama recently gained spotlight again as Bang Minah got married to On Ju Wan, who played Seok Joon Soo, late last year. An on-screen connection turned into a real-life love story gives K-drama fans even more reason to revisit the series!

An oldie but a goldie, ”Dr. Romantic” is so iconic that they needed to bring the cast and story back not once but twice! I love the heartwarming stories of doctors who sincerely care for their patients and also the phenomenal chemistry and teamwork between the hospital staff, helmed by Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin in Season 1. The series delivers everything from emotional moments to laughter—so don’t miss out and start by watching the first season, the story that started it all.

Yeon: “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God”
We can’t talk about 2016 K-dramas without mentioning “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God”! This fantasy romance tells the emotional story of the immortal Goblin Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) and Ji Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun), the only bride destined to end his eternal life. It’s a tear-jerking romance that is impossible not to get invested in, but there are also plenty of comedic moments that bring smiles and laughter. The stunning cinematography and beloved OST also contribute to the drama’s lasting power that brings me back to watching it every year!

Cha Hak Yeon And Kim Hyang Gi Talk About Their Drama “Absolute Value Of Romance,” Similarities To Their Characters, And More
The two leads of “Absolute Value of Romance” recently participated in a photo shoot with the fashion magazine Cosmopolitan Korea!
“Absolute Value of Romance” is a drama about high school student Yeo Ui Ju (Kim Hyang Gi), who writes romance novels featuring handsome teachers as the main characters. She encounters the teachers—Ga Woo Su (Cha Hak Yeon), Noh Da Ju (Kim Jae Hyun), Jung Gi Jeon (Sohn Jeong Hyuck), Yoon Dong Ju (Kim Dong Gyu)—in real life in unexpected moments and becomes the central figure in a turbulent school life.
Talking about the drama, Cha Hak Yeon said, “It’s a series where the characters’ youth and growth are clearly portrayed. Watching Woo Su grow because of Eui Ju was something I could genuinely relate to, and when filming the final class scene, I actually felt very emotional.”
Kim Hyang Gi shared, “It’s a project that delivers its message in a simple and natural way. So when you watch it, you’ll be able to relate to it and find it funny.”
On how similar they are to their characters, Cha Hak Yeon said, “When I first met Woo Su, I thought we had nothing in common. His personality and way of speaking are very cold. But if there is one similarity, it’s that we both have strong ‘T’ (“Thinking” personality in MBTI) tendencies. Other than that, we’re quite different, so getting to know Woo Su was actually interesting.”
Kim Hyang Gi added, “Our similarity is having a passionate love for something and the desire to achieve a dream. Just like Eui Ju works toward her dream of becoming a writer, I was deeply immersed in acting during my school years, and that period lasted quite a long time. I tried to draw from that experience.”
They also talked about their most memorable scenes. Kim Hyang Gi said, “There’s a scene early on where the teachers are introduced for the first time. When news spreads that young, handsome male teachers have been assigned to the school, the students all rush into the staff room—that scene really captures the overall atmosphere of our series, so it left a strong impression on me.”
Cha Hak Yeon shared, “In the drama, Woo Su is a completely guarded and perfectionist teacher. He builds his own walls and doesn’t let anyone inside. But there’s a scene where this almost perfect character completely breaks down. He faints over something as trivial as pigeon droppings. At the time, I was lying there with my eyes closed, and Hyang Gi’s acting was so lively and expressive. Eventually, I reached the point where just hearing her breathing would make me burst out laughing. I think we had to reshoot that scene more than 10 times.”
