6 Reasons To Watch William Jakrapatr And Est Supha’s Chaotic Thai BL Drama “You Maniac”
Having previously starred together in “ThamePo: Heart That Skips a Beat” and “Peace and Me,” William Jakrapatr Kaewpanpong and Est Supha Sangaworawong have reunited respectively as Dean and Moth in “You Maniac,” and their natural chemistry is shining through every scene! The story of “You Maniac” revolves around Dean, a charming, confident flirt who seems to have no problem getting anyone’s attention, and Moth, an eccentric artist who wants absolutely nothing to do with romance. When Ten (Barcode Tinnasit Isarapongporn) asks Dean to seduce Moth so that he can confess his feelings to Pun (Kin Thanachai Sakchaicharoenkul), Dean sees it as an easy challenge. After all, how hard could it be to win over someone when you are THE Dean?

A unique love quadrangle setup to drive you insane
You must have heard of a love triangle; the romantic setup where either two people love the same person, or person A is in love with person B, who is in love with person C. However, “You Maniac” takes the madness a step further by introducing a rather unique love quadrangle.
The story of “You Maniac” revolves around four people: Dean, Moth, Ten, and Pun. Ten likes Pun, whom he first meets at a veterinary clinic. Pun, meanwhile, likes Moth, a popular artist and his longtime friend. Since Ten wants to pursue Pun but Pun’s heart is already occupied by Moth, Ten comes up with a plan: he asks Dean to seduce Moth and date him so that Pun can move on from his one-sided love and Ten can finally have a chance with him. Clearly, the plan is for Moth and Dean to eventually end up together, while Ten and Pun are paired off. But this level of chaos only means a high-level entertainment factor.
What makes the whole situation even more fun is that Dean and Moth start off their relationship as a fake dating arrangement, with Dean simply trying to win Moth over as part of Ten’s plan. However, as the two spend more time together, their relationship quickly becomes much more complicated and steamier than either of them probably expected with enough tension to make you wonder who is actually seducing whom.
Moth is a layered main lead
When Moth first appears in “You Maniac,” he is shown shutting down every attempt at flirting. Someone sends a pastry to his table? He returns it. Someone shows the slightest romantic interest in him during a work meeting? Moth starts reconsidering whether he even wants to work on the project. Someone sends him a flirtatious message on Instagram? Moth literally blocks the account.
But his actions do not come across as that of someone who is simply playing hard to get or being overly picky. And that is exactly what makes his character so intriguing. As a viewer, you cannot help but want to keep watching the drama just to find out what happened in Moth’s past that turned him into someone who runs away from even the slightest display of affection.
Moth and Dean’s romance is the undeniable main focus of the story; however, another element of “You Maniac” that keeps viewers glued to the screen is the mystery surrounding Moth’s character. Moth is not your typical tsundere; at work, he is warm and easy to get along with, and in his personal life, he is genuinely friendly. But when it comes to romantic relationships, Moth simply does not entertain anyone and can become extremely rude when someone approaches him with dating or intimacy in mind. This contradiction in his personality makes him an intriguing protagonist to watch.
Dean is more than a simple playboy
In the first episode of “You Maniac,” Dean is presented as the polar opposite of Moth. On one hand, Moth barely interacts with people unless he has to and immediately shuts down any attempt at flirting. On the other hand, Dean is the social butterfly who seems to have hooked up with half the population in his neighborhood.
But no matter how hard the first episode tries to present Dean as a playboy, do not believe it! If anything, he is more similar to the voluntary-ever-so-single Moth than even Moth realizes, and that makes their dynamic unexpectedly interesting.
Dean unabashedly has flings with anyone he finds attractive. However, there are multiple scenes that suggest his vibrant dating life is actually evidence of him using intimacy to fill a deeper void in his life.
One such scene comes in episode two, when Dean goes to a mall and runs into two people he has previously hooked up with, who happen to be going to the movies together. He asks if he can join them, but they reject his offer because they are on a date. The way Dean acts awkward in that scene hints at how he is feeling left out and alone.
Later in the same episode, Moth asks Dean how he usually celebrates his birthday. Dean explains that he spends it by drinking with his friends until he gets so drunk that he cannot remember the night the next day. Moth correctly points out how lonely that sounds. Birthdays are supposed to be some of the happiest days of the year, and for a man as successful as Dean, partying so hard that he cannot remember anything about his own birthday celebration seems less carefree and more unhealthy.
In another earlier scene, Dean tells Ten that he never brings anyone home. Someone who has been casually hooking up with people left and right has apparently never felt connected enough to bring any of them home? That certainly sounds less like a carefree playboy and more like someone who is afraid of commitment.
Dean and Moth match each other’s maniac-ness
Dean and Moth are not one of those couples where one partner needs to be saved while the other does the saving. They match each other’s energy, which prevents either character from completely overshadowing the other.
Initially, Moth is presented as someone who is mellow and introverted. However, that does not mean he is a pushover. He initiates his dates with Dean of his own accord and is often the one deciding where they go and what they do.
But Moth is not the only one calling the shots since Dean is also not someone who simply goes along with everything. Even though he is trying to seduce Moth, that does not mean he will do absolutely anything to get closer to him.
This constant push-and-pull dynamic is what makes their relationship so entertaining. Neither Dean nor Moth completely gives in to the other, and watching two equally stubborn, unpredictable men try to figure each other out is half the fun of “You Maniac.”
The tension and chemistry are already off the charts
If there is one thing “You Maniac” is not lacking, it is chemistry. After watching only two episodes, it makes perfect sense why Ten chose Dean for his mission to seduce Moth. Dean seems like the kind of man who could flirt with a marble statue and somehow get it blushing.
He constantly pushes Moth’s boundaries, flirts with him without hesitation, and somehow manages to get even the usually unbothered Moth flustered. Every lingering look, teasing comment, and unexpected moment of closeness is enough to give viewers butterflies. William Jakrapatr and Est Supha’s undeniable chemistry only makes the dynamic even better.
There is more than one romance to keep up with
While Dean and Moth are the main attraction, they are not the only couple keeping viewers invested. Ten’s adorably awkward crush on his sweet Dr. Pun adds another romantic storyline to the mix. Watching Ten navigate his feelings for Pun while getting caught up in this whole mess adds another layer of fun to the story.
However, since Ten is the one who came up with the entire plan to have Dean seduce Moth so he could get a chance with Pun, it will be interesting to see how Pun reacts when the truth finally comes out. Will he understand why Ten did it, or will he feel betrayed by the whole scheme?
With a chaotic love quadrangle, two equally stubborn leads, plenty of comedy, and just the right amount of emotional vulnerability, there is already a lot to love about this series. Dean and Moth’s chemistry alone is enough to keep viewers coming back each week, but the messy side romances and unanswered questions make the wait between episodes even more interesting. If you enjoy BLs where flirting, teasing, and tension are practically their own love language, this one definitely deserves a spot on your watchlist.

First Impressions: Rivals Don’t Know They’re In Love In Thai BL “Match Point”
New Thai BL “Match Point” is about the heated rivalry between a star tennis player and a talented art student. They’re on different paths, but their endless efforts to one-up each other eventually land them on the same tennis court, competing against each other.
Be ready to be the only one in the room who can actually read it—these two think they’re just rivals, but there’s so clearly something else going on. When rivals have this much chemistry, it usually means one thing.

The series starts by laying the groundwork for what’s likely to be another perfect enemies-to-lovers story: two students, Sun (Ping Krittanun Aunchananun) and Bay (Teshow Promsakha Na Sakonnakhon), have it out for each other almost 24/7.
Sun is a rising tennis star set for the big leagues, while Bay is a multi-talented student who excels at the arts. These two could easily just stick to their own lanes, but their rivalry seems like second nature at this point. It has truly reached silly proportions.
Sun and Bay actively keep the rivalry alive and strong. In fact, there are even traditions to their rivalry, like how they race every day after school to decide who gets to take the ferry versus the train home because they can’t fathom riding on the same public transportation together at the same time. Even a simple game of dodgeball turns into an intense battle, while onlooking students just watch and sigh, knowing this is entirely normal for them.
To make matters worse, they also live across the street from each other, so their rivalry isn’t limited to school. Their own fathers are also extreme rivals with competing businesses. It could very well be that the rivalry between Sun and Bay is not even originally their own, but rather something that was passed down to them.
There’s also more than just a silly rivalry going on here. There’s pressure from both their parents to be better than the other, and it seems like their own dreams have gotten confused with what their parents want for them.
When Sun questions Bay’s passion for art, Bay fires back, questioning if Sun even likes tennis, or if it’s just something he’s been doing because of his dad. As the two start to explore the truth behind their rivalry and what’s really going on between them, it looks like they’ll also be having some realizations about what they really want to be doing with their life.
By all means, they seem perfectly comfortable in their rivalry, but something unexpected jeopardizes their petty fighting that they love so much. Suddenly, Sun announces that he’s planning to leave school after the semester ends and join the national tennis team’s training camp. When Bay hears this, he not only seems surprised but also disappointed.
Sun, therefore, calls for a truce for his remaining time at school, but Bay has other plans. He sees their remaining time together as one final chance to mess with Sun, or so he says. While he makes it seem like he wants to give their rivalry one last hurrah, it also looks like he just wants to spend as much time as possible by Sun’s side before he disappears, but he’s definitely not ready to admit that yet.
Instead, Bay has a plan. He rummages through his closet and takes out an old, dusty tennis racket. As it happens, a tennis competition is taking place at school, and anyone can sign up. Can you guess what happens next? It’s time for their rivalry to go from the school hallways to the tennis court.
Ignoring Sun’s request for a truce, Bay signs up for the tennis competition. In a heated moment of annoyance, Sun signs up too, even though he had planned to sit this one out and let the other players have a chance (he’s really that good). So far, Sun has been the top tennis player at the school, and virtually no one has been able to beat him. However, Bay isn’t just some tennis rookie.
Bay might have his sights on pursuing art, but he’s actually not too shabby at tennis either. Though it’s been about 10 years, he used to play tennis too. It hasn’t been explained yet why he played and why he stopped, but given how Sun gets concerned when he sees Bay practicing, it’s clear that Bay is a formidable opponent.
But of course, something happens the night before their match and re-adjusts the odds. Sun coincidentally gets injured and hurts his shoulder. Unwilling to forfeit, he plays against Bay anyway, even though his friends and coach advise him not to.
Ultimately, Bay perseveres and wins against Sun. Granted, it wasn’t entirely an equal fight to begin with, but Bay certainly held his own and showed his abilities as a tennis player, despite being at a totally different level compared to Sun. It makes you wonder who would be on top if Bay were to seriously pursue tennis alongside Sun.
These two certainly act like rivals, but the longing glances and the secret thoughtfulness when no one is looking say otherwise. If you’re an expert on enemies-to-lovers, you’ll recognize the signs pretty quickly. There’s something suspicious going on here, even if the leads themselves don’t realize it yet. Chemistry doesn’t lie, and these two have loads of it.
Their dynamic is definitely “Bad Buddy” coded, but in this case, they’re in high school, and the rivalry feels even more ridiculous and funny because these two actively try to annoy each other rather than avoid interacting. Taking the high road simply isn’t in their vocabulary.
Odds are there’s a tennis rematch in their future when Sun has healed up and Bay has had more time to train, but now the clock is ticking for this rivalry. Hopefully, the idea of their impending separation gets them to rethink their relationship and consider the possibility that they can be something more.

First Impressions: Thai Drama “Mr. Kill” Is A Murder Mystery Thriller With A Twist
In the new Thai series “Mr. Kill,” a cop and a mysterious illustrator work together to find a murderer that is copying the gruesome killings illustrated in a dark manga titled “Nekros.” The prime suspect? The illustrator of Nekros himself.
The first episodes of “Mr. Kill” set the stage for a creepy murder mystery rooted in the world of manga. From an intense frenemy relationship between the leads to a story that’ll keep you suspicious, these are the first impressions and predictions the premiere episodes set in motion.

A killer is on the loose
People are dying, Kim. No, but seriously. People are dying.
With a name like “Mr. Kill,” it feels only fitting that this drama starts with a murder and not just a single murder, but serial killings that are way too gruesome, creative, and detailed not to have a deeper meaning. On the case are police officer Phat (Tee Teeradech Vitheepanich) and his team.
At first, the odd killings and their victims seem random, but a lead from an unexpected source brings up one very important detail: the killings are similar to crimes depicted in an underground, niche manga known as “Nekros.” Anonymously illustrated by a creator nicknamed Mr. Kill, the stories depict grim and twisted murders that are now happening in real life.
Once the framework for the murders has been discovered, their only connection to who might be doing these crimes is the illustrator. With Phat’s determination, it’s only a matter of time before they identify Mr. Kill, and it turns out to be someone no one would initially suspect.
Kay versus Mr. Kill
It’s not long before Phat traces “Nekros” back to manga artist Kay (Dew Jirawat Sutivanichsak). The second main character of this story, Kay, is an illustrator behind the popular romance manga, “Love in the Wind.” Under the pseudonym Mr. Kill, he also wrote “Nekros” in secret. Somehow, Kay and Mr. Kill are the same person, but on paper, they seem like two totally different personalities. It’s truly giving Jekyll and Hyde.
In many ways, Kay looks like your average guy. He’s timid and acts like a recluse, outside of going to the office. At work, he’s mistreated and underpaid by his boss, but he’s nonetheless shown to be kind to his coworkers and his many fans. He appears to love illustrating, but he suffers from severe anxiety and nightmares.
But there are moments when Kay seems like someone else entirely, and the suspicious behavior is hard to ignore. First off, Kay sketches disturbing scenes (maybe it’s just part of the job, maybe just a personal interest, or maybe something more), and it begs the question: Is Mr. Kill an alter ego hidden inside Kay or simply a cool nickname that fits the work?
There are also instances where he wanders through a closed market at night with a hoodie concealing himself, practices smiling in the mirror, keeps a hammer in his bag, and shows up to work with bruises on his arms. Yet he also stops to feed stray cats in an alley. The contrast is seriously confusing. Who is this guy, really? Is he more Kay or is he more Mr. Kill? Maybe things aren’t that black and white.
When word gets out that the killer is copying “Nekros,” Kay immediately burns his paper copies and tries to clear any trace of the manga online. That’s also suspicious. Sometimes he just looks like a scared guy wrapped up in something he never wanted to be involved in, and other times he looks like he’s hiding something.
The hammer in his bag eventually gets an explanation: according to him, he’s tormented by debt collectors, so he carries it around for self-defense. That checks out: debt collectors are shown chasing him down, and it’s already been made clear he isn’t paid fairly. It’s very possible that every other suspicious detail about him simply needs an explanation.
For now, Kay, aka Mr. Kill, is the only viable suspect, at least in Phat’s eyes.
Fiction blurred with reality
What is for certain is that the framework for the murders is undeniably “Nekros,” and all the clues for what will happen next can be found hidden in the pages. Outside of the whole murdering people aspect, it’s a seriously cool premise to start with. It also makes you wonder why this specific manga, why Kay, and why now? There’s got to be a motive, and at this point, any guess is fair game.
There’s a clear potential for bromance
This isn’t quite a BL, but it leans heavily into the hot-and-cold chemistry that develops between Phat and Kay.
Before Kay becomes a suspect, the two meet on more lighthearted terms during Kay’s fan signing event. Phat’s sister is a big fan of Kay’s manga, but she can’t make the event because of an internship interview, so Phat reluctantly goes in her place. One thing leads to another, and the two briefly meet, posing awkwardly for a picture before stealing glances at each other as they part ways.
However, things quickly take a turn from lighthearted to menacing when the link between Mr. Kill, “Nekros,” Kay, and the ongoing serial murders is made. Phat shows up at Kay’s company to investigate, only for all fingers to be pointed at Kay for having a similar art style to Mr. Kill a long time ago. Kay denies it as best as he can, but his nerves show, and Phat picks up that something is off.
The show will keep you guessing
Kay seems like the perfect suspect, and Phat is determined to put someone in jail for these heinous crimes. Once Kay is suspected to be the illustrator behind “Nekros,” Phat and his team start to investigate Kay. They eventually hunt him down and bring him in for interrogation, but it leads to more questions than answers.
Either Kay puts up an amazing acting performance, or he’s really just a stressed and scared guy drawn into a very bad situation. They’re getting nowhere, but soon Kay starts to notice patterns between the murders and his manga: clues that hint at what killing will be done next and to whom.
Phat decides to use Kay’s insight to move the case along, but he isn’t quite convinced yet that Kay isn’t involved. Instead of removing Kay’s handcuffs and letting him go, he cuffs their hands together so they’re forced to stay side by side. It’s the whole “keep your enemies close” scenario, but it’s also most definitely a setup for more bromance.
This murder mystery is shaping up to be a thrilling chase to find the killer, and it doesn’t look like the show is going to make it easy to find out. If Kay isn’t the killer, then he’s probably the best person to help catch the real culprit, so the unlikely team-up between Phat and Kay is a good move.
With Kay’s insight into the manga and the way the killer works, it looks like they’ll be working together despite their differences, but the cops are still very suspicious of Mr. Kill. Granted, at this point, viewers are probably too.

4 Reasons To Watch Gemini And Fourth’s Thai BL “Ticket To Heaven”
What happens when the person who makes you question everything you believe in also becomes the person you cannot imagine living without?
In “Ticket to Heaven,” Tanrak (Fourth Nattawat Jirochtikul) has dedicated his life to the church, hoping that a future as a priest will eventually reunite him with the parents he lost as a child. But his carefully planned life is disrupted when Barth (Gemini Norawit Titicharoenrak), a rebellious new student, arrives at the seminary. Tasked with guiding Barth, Tanrak soon finds himself confronting feelings that challenge everything he has been taught about faith, love, and salvation.

A gripping start with impending doom
“Ticket to Heaven” is technically set in the present day. The drama opens with Barth driving to a church as the radio announces that the country’s marriage equality law has been reinforced since January 22, 2025. While the sunlit scene initially appears hopeful for the future of LGBTQ+ individuals in the country, the unreadable expression on Barth’s face makes the audience wonder why the news does not seem to affect him.
After reaching the church, the audience’s curiosity turns into slight concern when Barth tells the pastor that he could not have missed coming to the church that day because someone very important to him is being ordained. This immediately raises the question: Is the “important person” Tanrak? If so, that would mean Barth and Tanrak never got the chance to be together.
The drama begins with this sense of impending doom, which adds weight to every scene set in the 1990s as the story explores Barth and Tanrak’s youth. Every time Tanrak hesitates or takes a step back over the course of the six episodes, the audience can feel the same sting in their hearts that Barth feels, knowing that these small moments may eventually fill the next three decades of both their lives with what-ifs and if-onlys.
The existence of religious guilt is cinematic at times
Since the story revolves around two gay men—Tanrak, a seminarian and student of religion, and Barth, a “troublemaker” who joins the same seminary—the presence of religious guilt is almost inevitable. However, the drama’s use of religious symbols to create a stark contrast between the boys’ growing feelings and the guilt that accompanies them makes many of these scenes particularly palpable. The audience can truly feel what Tanrak is experiencing.
One such scene takes place in an earlier episode, when Barth plans to sneak out of the seminary in the middle of the night to buy roti, and Tanrak helps him climb over the wall. As they find themselves in close proximity, Tanrak hesitates. At this point in the story, it has not even been established whether Tanrak acknowledges his sexuality, but the moment clearly marks the beginning of his attraction to Barth.
Later that night, Tanrak keeps replaying their interactions in his mind as choir music plays in the background. The juxtaposition of sacred music associated with the church and Tanrak fantasizing about another man, something he has been taught is a sin, is deeply impactful. This is far from the only scene in which the drama uses religious themes to highlight the boys’ attraction to each other, and the recurring symbolism enhances these moments beautifully.
“Ticket to Heaven” answers who gets the ticket to heaven
“Ticket to Heaven” takes its title from an in-story painting of the same name. The painting depicts a man climbing a staircase toward heaven, with creatures on either side attempting to lure him away from the “right path.” If he ignores them, like the man in the painting, he will receive his “ticket to heaven.”
Many faiths often come with a set of rules that determine whether an individual will be granted eternal salvation. In “Ticket to Heaven,” Tanrak desires this ticket not simply because he wants to go to heaven, but because his parents died when he was young, and salvation guarantees that he will meet them again in the afterlife.
As a result, his guilt becomes something more personal than a simple conflict between himself and the rules of his religion. It becomes a question of whether he should choose the possibility of meeting his parents again or spend this life with Barth.
The answer to his religious guilt eventually comes in the form of his father’s old friend, a woman living a life that many people at the time might have considered sinful. Yet she appears closer to God and more filled with God’s love than many of the people who would accuse her of sin.
At this point, the question changes. It is no longer simply about salvation and damnation. Instead, the drama asks: Is God’s love so conditional that it cannot exist alongside the love shared between two human beings? Would God punish people for loving after giving them the ability to love?
It offers a window into youth despite the heavy themes
Despite dealing with heavy themes such as religious guilt and homophobia, “Ticket to Heaven” never shies away from offering a snapshot of Barth and Tanrak’s youth.
From spraying water at each other instead of cleaning the chairs to playing tic-tac-toe during class, going to waterfalls, and sneaking out of school, these moments are soft and sweet. Perth and Santa’s highly-anticipated Thai BL “Love You Teacher” is finally here, and so far, it’s shaping up to be a heartfelt mix of chaos and comfort.
The story follows Pobmek, played by Perth Tanapon Sukumpantanasan, a school teacher who never really wanted the job in the first place, and his boyfriend Solar, played by Santa Pongsapak Udompoch, who just so happens to be the most well-liked teacher at their school. Their relationship seems steady and conflict-free until an unexpected accident changes everything. Solar begins to regress to a seven-year-old version every other day, turning their peaceful life into something far more unpredictable. Now, despite his discomfort around children, Pobmek is forced to step into a role he never prepared for, raising one big question: can he take care of Solar when it matters most?
From Perth-Santa’s undeniable chemistry to their outstanding performances, here are four reasons to watch the Thai BL “Love You Teacher.”

Outstanding performances that give justice to the complex characters
If two actors are working in a professionally made BL drama or any production in general, their performances are expected to meet professional standards. That said, Perth Tanapon Sukumpantanasan and Santa Pongsapak Udompoch truly exceed expectations with their acting. The audience is initially charmed by the comedic and light-hearted moments in the first episode of “Love You Teacher.”
This is because the first episode starts with Pobmek being late for work; his phone alarm is ringing, and instead of a default alarm sound, it is someone’s voice.

Later, after Pobmek gets ready and leaves his room, he sees a message on a sticky note.
Who could it be from?
After Pobmek finally arrives at the school and visits another teacher, Solar’s class, it becomes clear that the alarm voice and the sticky note message might be from this other teacher. Later, the audience’s assumptions are confirmed when both men leave work together and end up in the same apartment shown at the very beginning of the episode. Only now, Solar is cooking dinner, and Pobmek is affectionately annoying him, while they both talk to Solar’s mother on a video-call.
But despite being a rom-com, it is soon made clear that the story is built on extremely complex characters. And of course, both main leads do complete justice to their roles and the nuanced dynamic shaped by Solar’s altered mental state.
Firstly, Santa Pongsapak Udompoch takes on the challenge of portraying two distinct versions of the same character: an adult, level-headed school teacher who is emotionally intelligent, playful, and romantic, and a seven-year-old version of himself, Nong Sun. His body language, speech patterns, tone, and overall presence shift completely between these two states. This range in performance effectively sells the idea that Solar mentally reverts to a child.
On the other hand, Perth Tanapon Sukumpantanasan plays what initially appears to be a single, straightforward role. However, “Love You Teacher” gradually reveals deeper layers of Pobmek’s character through flashbacks and emotional context. The audience sees how Pobmek’s overcritical mother shaped his self-image, and Perth’s performance brings that emotional weight to life in a grounded and impactful way.
On-screen romantic and emotional chemistry
This marks Perth Tanapon Sukumpantanasan and Santa Pongsapak Udompoch’s second project together as a couple, following the Thai BL “Perfect 10 Liners,” and their chemistry is spot on.
In the first episode, after both leads arrive at their home, they do share romantic scenes. However, since Solar is Sun for a significant portion of the story, romantic scenes are naturally limited after that, appearing only when Solar gets back to his current mental state. So, for the majority of the drama, rather than relying on constant romance, the drama builds anticipation, making each interaction feel meaningful and layered.
More importantly, their chemistry extends far beyond romantic scenes. Even in everyday interactions, there is a quiet sense of trust and emotional closeness between them that feels deeply rooted. After Solar regresses to a seven-year-old, he also loses all of the memories he had with Pobmek, making him anxious. He constantly calls Pobmek the kidnapper uncle and cries for his mother. But instead of yelling or getting annoyed like most people might do in a situation as overwhelming as this, Pobmek continues being kind. Because even if Solar is not acting how he usually does right now, he ultimately is the same person Pobmek fell in love with. In a scene in a later episode, Pobmek even tells Solar himself that he will continue taking care of him because he loves him.
The way Pobmek cares for the mentally seven-year-old Solar is consistently heartwarming and sincere, balancing tenderness with a subtle emotional ache that adds depth to their relationship.
“Love You Teacher” also subtly implies that Solar has been there for him since the very beginning. They met first in college and shared a dorm room, and through the backstory it is clear that at that time Pobmek was not as lively and confident as he is now. Instead, he was under the constant weight of his mother’s unachievable standards; a mother for whom even his 4.0 CGPA was not good enough.
At that stage of life when Pobmek found himself completely alone, Solar had become his friend, then lover, and later a pillar that supported him. But this support was never one sided. Before Solar and Pobmek even officially started dating, the reason why Solar fell for Pobmek was his consistency. Solar kept his umbrella hidden to see how long it will take for Pobmek to stop offering his own. But Pobmek did not stop, he kept showing up outside Solar’s classes. And even after seven years of being together, Pobmek stayed the same.
Anyone can love when the weather is nice, but love is truly tested when the couple’s life is falling apart, and if they still continue choosing each other every single day, then that is a kind of love that is hard to find.
Supportive side characters
One of the strongest aspects of “Love You Teacher” is its side characters. Rather than introducing a typical antagonist or a rival love interest, the central conflict stems from Solar’s condition after being hit by a car, something that cannot be easily resolved alone. Even when Pobmek tries to handle everything himself, his plans repeatedly fall apart under the weight of the situation.
After Solar’s accident, when Solar’s mother calls to ask about her son, Pobmek lies to her that Solar is doing fine. Even when Solar keeps asking for his mother, Pobmek refuses to call her. On one hand, it is quite irresponsible as well as cruel to not let his mother know the truth. But Pobmek does not have any ill intent; he simply thinks Solar is his partner, so he should take care of him alone and protect Solar’s dignity.
But when Pobmek tries to handle everything himself, his plans repeatedly fall apart under the weight of the situation.
Despite initially having no solid reason for his assumption, Pobmek fears that if the school management discovers Solar’s condition, he may lose his job. Later, while talking to the PE teacher (Kay Lertsittichai), who happens to be his childhood rival, Pobmek misunderstands the situation and thinks the PE teacher helped the school get rid of a teacher who had mental health issues. This solidifies Pobmek’s fear, and he decides not to let anyone know of Solar’s situation, no matter what happens.
However, when the principal (Sammy Samantha Melanie Coates) and the PE teacher eventually find out, they are understanding, assuring Pobmek that they will help care for Solar. The principal even says that it is perfect that Solar turned seven because they, the school staff who work with seven-year-olds all day, know how to take care of someone that age. The principal goes as far as to inform all of the staff and let them know of Solar’s situation and that he will still be coming to school, but will occasionally join as a student instead of a teacher.
Seeing the staff show no ill-judgment and being ready to help Solar is quite emotional. Especially in a world where mental health issues are demonized, seeing Solar’s situation being accepted is heartwarming.
The best part of the entire situation is that the guy, the PE teacher, who Pobmek thought hated him, ends up being one of the biggest helpers. He creates a plan to fix Solar’s regression issue.
Creative set design that balances out the atmosphere
Despite the heavy emotional premise of “Love You Teacher,” the series maintains a surprisingly warm and uplifting visual tone through its set design.
