“The Husband” is a thriller that follows Kang Tae Joo (Namkoong Min), a man who becomes entangled in a desperate battle against a dangerous criminal after his wife is kidnapped just before their divorce.

Meanwhile, Noh Man Hee (Kim Dae Myeung), who first appears with a friendly smile, reveals a darker side as he says, “Everyone has a limit to how much they can endure. I’ve reached mine,” raising questions about his true motives.

Speaking about the action portrayed by Kang Tae Joo in “The Husband,” Namkoong Min shared, “The action in this project is closer to action that conveys a sense of desperation rather than flashy stunts. Since Kang Tae Joo is an ordinary doctor, not a professional fighter, I spent a lot of time thinking about how a real person would move if placed in such a situation.”

He continued, “Because of that, I actually tried not to make the action look too polished. Even during chase scenes and physical confrontations, I focused on capturing a sense of urgency and vulnerability rather than making it seem like he could handle everything perfectly.”

Lee Sang Hee stars as Kim Kyung Ae, a mysterious woman who suddenly appears before Go Se Yoon (Lee Seol) when she finds herself in trouble. Constantly leaving others suspicious of her true intentions, Kim Kyung Ae becomes a crucial variable who changes the course of events in unexpected ways.

Speaking about her decision to join the drama, Lee Sang Hee shared, “I was grateful to receive the offer, and above all, I was curious about the cast. I had previously appeared in the same project as Namkoong Min, but we never had the opportunity to act together in the same scenes, so I wanted to work with him through this drama. I was also eager to watch Kim Dae Myeung’s acting up close.”

She continued, “It was also a role that felt unfamiliar to me, which made me want to take on the challenge. I spent a lot of time thinking about how to best portray Kyung Ae, and during filming, I frequently sought advice from the director and my fellow actors. Their help was invaluable as we exchanged emotions and built the character together.”

The released teaser begins with neurosurgeon Kang Tae Joo performing surgery in a tense atmosphere. In one scene, his wife Go Se Yoon (Lee Seol) is crying out, “This is all because of you,” while in another, Kang Tae Joo tells her that they should break up.

The teaser then shows Kang Tae Joo looking bewildered during a police interrogation, where he is asked, “Did you contract someone you met for the first time yesterday to murder your wife?” While he is being questioned, the video shows someone pushing a white vehicle into a lake.

Jang Tae Joo and Go Se Yoon are then facing each other in the middle of a banquet hall. Go Se Yoon declares that she is not getting a divorce, stating that she does not want to do anything he wants. Kim Dae Myeung stars as Noh Man Hee, the villain responsible for kidnapping Kang Tae Joo’s wife Go Se Yoon (Lee Seol). On the surface, Noh Man Hee is the kind and well-mannered director of a computer academy who is beloved by both children and elderly residents in the neighborhood. However, he harbors a cruel secret that no one could have anticipated.

Explaining why he chose the project, Kim Dae Myeung shared, “When I first received the script, I was so engrossed that I read it in one sitting. The story had a powerful sense of immersion, and it kept making me curious about what would happen next.”

He continued, “I wanted to play a character with multiple layers and different sides coexisting within one person, and Noh Man Hee was exactly that kind of character. I felt he was someone who couldn’t be easily defined by a single face. Throughout filming, I hoped viewers would also find themselves wondering, ‘Who is this person really?’”

For that reason, Kim Dae Myeung did not approach Noh Man Hee as a straightforward villain. “I thought he could easily come across as a very one-dimensional character,” he explained. “So I constantly tried to understand why Noh Man Hee made these choices and what emotions ultimately led him to his current actions.”

The actor also paid close attention to the character’s appearance. “I wanted him to look like a very neat and ordinary person you might encounter in everyday life, so I often wore shirts and buttoned them all the way up to the collar,” he said. “As the story unfolds over a short period of time and Man Hee gradually changes, I wanted to make that transformation more visible through subtle changes in his appearance as well.”
