Jung Jun Won Shares Thoughts On His “A Bona Fide Killer” Character, Working With Kong Hyo Jin And Lee Sang Yi, And More

Jung Jun Won has dished on his on-screen chemistry with Kong Hyo Jin and Lee Sang Yi in the upcoming drama “A Bona Fide Killer”!

On July 13, the production team of “A Bona Fide Killer” released an interview with Jung Jun Won, who plays loving husband and dad Kwon Tae Sung, ahead of the show’s premiere.

“A Bona Fide Killer” is an action drama about a working mother with a lethal job who is fighting to protect her work-life balance. In what marks her first MBC drama in 15 years, Kong Hyo Jin stars as Yu Bo Na, the seemingly ordinary manager of Sales Team 3 at Durumi Electronics, who is secretly the legendary sniper known as “Kingfisher.”

Jung Jun Won shared the reason he chose this project, saying, “The script was incredibly exciting and fun. Also, the chance to work alongside Kong Hyo Jin, whom I have been a fan of for a long time, was a huge appeal.”

Regarding his simliarity with the character, he remarked, “Basically, I am more quiet and introverted than Tae Sung. There are many aspects I don’t naturally possess, so I made a lot of effort to adjust well to the character.”

Jung Jun Won also spoke about his chemistry with his fellow actors. “Kong Hyo Jin is an actor with such immense power that she makes her co-star’s heart flutter just by being on set. I was so happy just to be working with her, and needless to say, our chemistry was fantastic,” he said, heightening expectations for the married couple’s dynamic the two will portray.

Regarding actor Lee Sang Yi, the actor stated, “His unique positive and bright energy was a great stimulus for me. We spent time like real friends and tried to ensure that relationship was well-integrated into the project,” adding a heartwarming touch.

Finally, Jung Jun Won defined the drama “A Bona Fide Killer” as “the love of a family.” He emphasized, “Ultimately, my goal and purpose in playing Tae Sung is to show what love between family members truly is.” He also expressed his confidence by saying, “I am certain that this is a project that will satisfy you beyond your expectations.”

Park Hae Soo, Lee Hee Joon, And Kwak Sun Young Share Final Thoughts Ahead Of “The Scarecrow” Finale

Park Hae Soo, Lee Hee Joon, and Kwak Sun Young have shared their closing remarks ahead of the finale of “The Scarecrow.”

“The Scarecrow” follows a detective investigating a series of murders who is forced into an unlikely partnership with a man he despises. Set between 1988 and 2019, the suspenseful story tracks two men bound by misfortune and an uneasy alliance of hatred as they chase the truth across 30 years.

Ahead of the drama’s highly anticipated finale, the production team released new stills along with farewell comments from the cast.

Park Hae Soo, who led the drama as Kang Tae Joo, shared, “I heard many reactions saying the drama was difficult or frightening to watch. In the first half especially, I was constantly asked, ‘So who’s the culprit?’ and that made me realize just how immersed viewers were in the story. Later on, many people told me they felt angry and heartbroken alongside the characters.” He added, “Personally, the phrase I heard most often on the streets was ‘Kang Tae Joo, fighting!’ I’m simply grateful.”

Lee Hee Joon, who played Kang Tae Joo’s opposing force Cha Si Young, remarked, “Because the subject matter is heavy and the story itself isn’t lighthearted, I never expected it to receive this much love. That’s why I’m even more thankful.”

Kwak Sun Young, who portrayed Seo Ji Won, a key ally to Kang Tae Joo, said, “The comment I heard most often was that it was terrifying yet incredibly gripping. I also noticed that the criticism, which was initially directed only at the killer, eventually expanded toward those who mishandled the investigation back then. I’m truly grateful so many viewers showed interest in this drama.”

As the drama was inspired by the real-life Lee Chun Jae serial murder case, the actors approached the project with a heightened sense of responsibility. Ahead of the finale, they also shared key points viewers should look forward to in the final episode.

Lee Hee Joon, who played a prosecutor attempting to cover up the truth behind the serial murders, teased, “As Cha Si Young becomes a member of the National Assembly, he has more to protect—and more to lose. Please pay attention to the choice he makes when faced with the truth. In particular, the emotions in the final courtroom scene will be an important point to watch.”

Kwak Sun Young, who played a reporter in the 1980s timeline, commented, “Unlike the past, when the media was controlled by outside forces, Seo Ji Won is relatively freer in the drama’s present-day setting of 2019. Please look forward to how she reveals what happened in Gangseong to the world, how her friendship with Kang Tae Joo continues, and how the remaining characters move forward with their lives.”

Lastly, Park Hae Soo reflected, “Meeting the character Kang Tae Joo gave me many experiences both within the story and as an actor. At times it felt frustrating, but it was also incredibly desperate and heartfelt. I’m grateful to viewers who empathized with and deeply cared about the story, and I hope this drama can offer even a small measure of comfort to the victims and their bereaved families.”

“My Royal Nemesis” Director Shares Thoughts On Lim Ji Yeon, Heo Nam Jun, And Jang Seung Jo’s Casting And Chemistry

Director Han Tae Seop of the upcoming drama “My Royal Nemesis” has shared behind-the-scenes stories about the casting of Lim Ji Yeon, Heo Nam Jun, and Jang Seung Jo!

“My Royal Nemesis” is a romantic comedy starring Lim Ji Yeon as Shin Seo Ri, a struggling actress who is suddenly possessed by the spirit of a notorious villainess from the Joseon era. Heo Nam Jun will star as Cha Se Gye, a ruthless chaebol heir who is known as a “monster created by capitalism.”

Director Han Tae Seop expressed strong confidence in Lim Ji Yeon, saying, “Lim Ji Yeon was the top choice for both me and the writer. Her unique appeal, proven through many roles, closely matches the spirit shown by Shin Seo Ri, who steadfastly believes in herself and forges her own path.”

He went on, “In particular, Lim Ji Yeon naturally has Shin Seo Ri’s cute, refreshing, and lovable qualities. That’s why we saw her as our one-and-only casting choice.”

The director continued, “In the middle of the cold winter, we filmed a scene where Dan Shim [also played by Lim Ji Yeon] drinks poison and dies. I became so focused on Lim Ji Yeon’s acting that I forgot the cold. Watching her through the monitor, I felt as if my bones were aching. She is an actress who creates a very realistic sense of immersion and builds characters that only she can portray.”

Han Tae Seop added, “Please pay attention to the small and large moments and expressions through which Shin Seo Ri, an 18th-century Confucian-minded woman, delivers sharp remarks to modern-day people. These moments will deliver both catharsis and emotional impact to those of us who live while forgetting the values of ethics, morality, loyalty, and human decency.”

Meanwhile, director Han Tae Seop said of Heo Nam Jun, “I cast him for his ‘homme fatale’ charm, but I discovered he also has comedic talent. Cha Se Gye, created through the blend of Heo Nam Jun’s comedic timing and masculine appeal, will create tense and entertaining chemistry when he clashes with the strong-willed Shin Seo Ri without being overpowered.”

He continued, “I had faith that Heo Nam Jun’s flexible and delicate acting style would create strong chemistry with his co-stars. Lim Ji Yeon and Heo Nam Jun connected with their fellow actors with open hearts, resulting in both lighthearted fun and deep emotion. Even when they joked around on set, once the cameras started rolling, they focused on each other’s performances and supported one another. As a director, I felt grateful seeing that.”

Director Han Tae Seop also praised the performance of Jang Seung Jo, who plays Cha Se Gye’s distant cousin Choi Moon Do, saying, “Jang Seung Jo skillfully brought to life the multifaceted character of Choi Moon Do, who anchors the story with a strong presence amidst the light and cheerful narrative.”

He added, “I spent a long time speaking with Jang Seung Jo and focused on how a ‘villain’ is both similar to and different from us. The character of Choi Moon Do, shaped by Jang Seung Jo’s passion and dedication, will feel compelling, chilling, and at times even pitiful.”

Finally, the director highlighted key points that viewers can look forward to in the drama, saying, “The clash of vivid characters and the performances of talented actors will make the drama extremely immersive.
