BIGBANG’s Taeyang Triples His 1st-Week Sales Record With “QUINTESSENCE”

BIGBANG’s Taeyang is soaring to new heights with his latest album!

Last week, Taeyang made his long-awaited solo comeback with his new album “QUINTESSENCE” and its title track “LIVE FAST DIE SLOW” on May 18. By the end of the day, the album had already sold over 26,000 copies, smashing Taeyang’s previous first-week sales record of 16,427 set by his 2023 EP “Down to Earth” on just its first day of sales alone.

Hanteo Chart has now reported that “QUINTESSENCE” sold a total of 56,985 copies in the first week of its release (May 18 to 24), more than tripling Taeyang’s previous record.

3 tripleS Members Get Into Minor Car Accident + Sit Out Performance

tripleS’s ChaeYeon, HaYeon, and Sullin sat out the group’s latest performance after getting into a minor car accident.

On May 13, MODHAUS announced that ChaeYeon, HaYeon, and Sullin had been involved in a minor accident and had been advised by a doctor to “rest and focus on recovery.”

As a result, the three members sat out tripleS’s performance at the UNIST Cultural Exchange Festival, with their bandmates YuBin, Kaede, and ChaeWon taking their place in the lineup instead.

We would like to inform you of a change in the participating members for today’s UNIST Cultural Exchange Festival performance.

tripleS members ChaeYeon, HaYeon, and Sullin were involved in a minor traffic accident while traveling and visited a medical institution. Following the medical staff’s recommendation, they have been advised to rest and focus on recovery.

Accordingly, the participating members for today’s performance have been changed as follows:

May Girl Group Brand Reputation Rankings Announced

The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for girl groups!

The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community indexes of various girl groups, using big data collected from April 10 to May 10.

IVE continued their reign at the top of the list this month with a brand reputation index of 4,663,701. High-ranking phrases in the group’s keyword analysis included “BANG BANG,” “ARCH-IVE,” and “world tour,” while their highest-ranking related terms included “prove,” “charming,” and “sold out.” IVE’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 93.41 percent positive reactions.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK held onto their spot at second place with a brand reputation index of 3,944,164.

ILLIT shot to third place after seeing a whopping 286.80 percent increase in their brand reputation index since April, bringing their total score to 3,351,051 for the month.

LE SSERAFIM took fourth place with a brand reputation index of 2,922,334, marking a 28.54 percent rise in their score since last month.

Finally, TWICE came in at a close fifth with a brand reputation index of 2,718,410, marking a 31.20 percent increase in their score since April.

Watch: tripleS Confirms Comeback Date With “LOVE&POP” Teaser

tripleS’s comeback date has been announced!

Previously in January, it was revealed that the group will have separate “LOVE” and “POP” releases as a full group.

On May 1, a teaser was unveiled with details for tripleS’s upcoming comeback. The “LOVE” side will be a Korean comeback on June 1. There will then be an “&” side released on a later date and the “POP” side released in Japan in January 2027.

THE BOYZ’s Q, Lee Jin Hyuk, Hwang Ji Ah, And More Confirmed For New Idol Drama “My Idol, My Debut”

MBC Plus’s upcoming drama “My Idol, My Debut” has announced its cast lineup including THE BOYZ’s Q, Lee Jin Hyuk, Lee Jin Kyu, Lee Ho Hyun, Hwang Ji Ah, WOOAH’s Nana, tripleS’s Kaede, and AISA!

“My Idol, My Debut” is a time-slip coming-of-age story about a passionate fan who travels eight years into the past to prevent a tragic accident. She becomes an idol trainee in an effort to change fate.

In the drama, the boy group Boy to the Moon and the girl group IRION begin as fictional groups within the story. They later debut as real idols through official music releases and stage performances. It blends drama with K-pop promotions, marking a first-of-its-kind approach in South Korea.

Q plays Han Jae Ha, a central character and key member of Boy to the Moon with exceptional talent and a distinct star aura. Through the role, Q expands his acting range through both idol performance scenes and the character’s growth.

Lee Jin Hyuk joins as Ethan, a Canada-born member who serves as a key pillar of the group alongside Han Jae Ha.

Lee Jin Kyu and Lee Ho Hyun play Kaden and Eun Ho, respectively, completing Boy to the Moon with added teamwork and story depth.

As for the girl group IRION, Hwang Ji Ah joins the cast as Choi Ae Ni, who drives the story’s main plot. She portrays an idol trainee who enters the industry in an effort to change her fate.

Nana plays Aji, adding energy to the group with her trendy image and acting skills built through prior experience.

Kaede joins as Karin, adding a fresh presence aimed at global fans.

Rookie actress AISA also joins IRION, bringing international appeal and new energy.

April Girl Group Brand Reputation Rankings Announced

IVE held onto their spot at the top of the list this month with a brand reputation index of 6,372,506. High-ranking phrases in the group’s keyword analysis included “BANG BANG,” “fashion,” and “world tour,” while their highest-ranking related terms included “all-kill,” “reveal,” and “record.” IVE’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 92.98 percent positive reactions.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK maintained their position at second place with a brand reputation index of 5,958,864 for April.

LE SSERAFIM shot to third place after seeing a 35.81 percent increase in their brand reputation index since March, bringing their total score to 2,273,462 for April.

aespa came in at a close fourth with a brand reputation index of 2,245,984, marking a 23.90 percent rise in their score since last month.

Finally, KiiiKiii rounded out the top five for April with a brand reputation index of 2,147,655.
