ALPHA DRIVE ONE’s Agency Shares Update On Legal Action Against Malicious Posts

ALPHA DRIVE ONE’s agency WAKEONE has shared an update on its ongoing legal action against malicious online activity targeting the group.

On May 21, WAKEONE revealed that it had filed formal complaints against individuals responsible for spreading malicious posts—which include the spread of false information, personal attacks, the production and distribution of obscene content, defamation, and insults—about ALPHA DRIVE ONE members across online communities and social media platforms.

The agency also stated that investigations are currently underway, including the execution of search and seizure warrants to identify the perpetrators.

Hello, this is WAKEONE.

First, we would like to sincerely thank all the fans who continue to show deep love and support for our artists.

As previously announced in February, our company appointed the law firm Shin & Kim LLC and informed that we would be taking legal action against illegal acts targeting our artists, including the spread of false information and defamation. We would now like to provide an update regarding the ongoing investigation.

Over the past several months, we have continuously collected and reviewed related posts and materials through our own monitoring efforts.

Based on this, we submitted formal complaints twice in April and May against malicious posts targeting certain members of ALPHA DRIVE ONE on online communities and social media platforms such as Naver Cafes and blogs, DC Inside, and X (formerly Twitter). The complaints involve malicious posts containing false information, personal attacks, the production and distribution of obscene content, defamation, and insults.

Investigations are currently underway, including the execution of search and seizure warrants to secure evidence needed to identify the perpetrators.

We have obtained and are analyzing information necessary to identify suspects from certain platforms, and we are continuing necessary follow-up procedures while closely cooperating with investigative authorities.

This legal action is intended to correct distorted information and false claims and to protect our artists from malicious slander and violations of their rights and interests. It also aims to prevent confusion and harm experienced by fans due to the spread of false information.

We will continue to responsibly pursue all necessary legal procedures regarding this matter through to the end.

We will continue to do our utmost to protect the rights and interests of our artists.

Thank you.

JYP Entertainment Shares Update On Legal Proceedings Against Individuals Targeting Its Artists

JYP Entertainment has shared an update on the agency’s ongoing legal efforts to protect its artists from malicious online activity and stalking.

On May 20, the agency released a statement revealing that it has filed criminal complaints and reports against individuals who created, generated, or distributed malicious content targeting its artists both in South Korea and overseas. According to JYP Entertainment, some individuals are currently under investigation, while others have already been found guilty of violations related to defamation, sexual crimes, and other offenses.

Hello. This is JYP Entertainment.

We are conducting ongoing monitoring and taking strict legal action against various illegal activities targeting our artists.

Through fan reports, our own internal monitoring, and a dedicated malicious content monitoring system, we are detecting and collecting malicious content in real time across major domestic and international online community platforms including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Naver, Nate Pann, Daum Café, TheQoo, DCinside, Ruliweb, FM Korea, MLBpark, Instiz, X, and Bilibili, as well as messaging platforms such as Telegram and KakaoTalk Open Chat. We are continuing to take strong legal action — including criminal complaints and civil claims — against those who create and distribute such malicious content, with a strict policy of zero settlements and zero leniency.

Based on information collected through community platforms, messaging applications, social media channels, and our ethics violations reporting system, we have filed criminal complaints and reports against individuals who created, generated, or disseminated malicious content targeting our artists. These individuals are either currently under investigation by law enforcement authorities or have already undergone serious investigation. Some have already been found guilty of violations of the Information and Communications Network Act, the Sexual Violence Punishment Act, and other related laws, resulting in criminal fines, as well as court-ordered mandatory completion of sexual violence treatment programs, and employment restrictions at institutions related to children and youth.

Legal action against malicious content posted on overseas online platforms and against perpetrators residing abroad, is also being pursued without exception. Specifically, we are continuing to identify individuals responsible for creating such content through domestic court-ordered evidence collection procedures and overseas court discovery proceedings, and we are pursuing monetary damages — both domestically and internationally — against those whose identities have been confirmed.

In this regard, a U.S. court dismissed objections raised by the opposing party on the grounds of “freedom of expression” in relation to our discovery proceedings and ultimately issued an order requiring disclosure of information. This clearly demonstrates that using overseas platforms as a workaround to infringe upon artists’ personal rights, or attempting to justify unlawful conduct under the guise of freedom of expression, will no longer be legally tolerated.

Stalking behavior that threatens the safety of our artists and seriously infringes upon their privacy is also subject to our zero-tolerance approach. Courts have already granted temporary restraining orders against certain perpetrators, and through criminal complaints and reports, we have requested thorough investigations into additional offenses committed during the course of stalking activities. In parallel, we are pursuing civil claims for damages against such perpetrators. We are likewise actively utilizing overseas discovery procedures to pursue legal remedies against stalking perpetrators residing abroad.

As demonstrated above, we maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy, without exception, toward all illegal activities, including the creation, generation, and distribution of malicious content as well as stalking behavior exploiting anonymity. Materials already collected and preserved as evidence will continue to be submitted to domestic and international investigative authorities, regardless of whether the original posts have been deleted, accounts made private, usernames changed, or memberships withdrawn.

We make it unequivocally clear that we will continue to take strong legal action under our zero-tolerance policy against any and all conduct that infringes upon the rights and interests of our artists.

If you discover any unlawful activity infringing upon our artists’ rights and interests, we kindly ask you to report it to our Fan JYP account (fan@jype.com). We also ask for your continued support and cooperation in building a respectful environment in which both artists and fans can take pride.

We sincerely thank you for your continued love and support for JYP Entertainment artists, and will continue to take proactive measures to protect them.

Thank you.

IVE’s agency STARSHIP Entertainment has provided an update on its ongoing legal response against malicious online activity targeting the group.

On May 11, STARSHIP Entertainment released a statement addressing its continued legal action against individuals involved in spreading defamatory and harmful content about IVE members, including the creation and distribution of deepfake materials.

The agency stated that it has filed criminal complaints against malicious posts across various online communities and social media platforms based on fan reports and its own monitoring efforts.

Hello, this is STARSHIP Entertainment.

We are continuously taking legal action against individuals who create and distribute malicious content targeting our artist IVE (ANYUJIN, GAEUL, REI, JANGWONYOUNG, LIZ, and LEESEO), including defamation, the spread of false information, sexual harassment, personal attacks, insults, invasion of privacy, and other forms of malicious slander.

Such conduct is clearly unlawful and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances or justified for any reason. We make it clear that we will not show leniency or make exceptions in these matters and will hold all responsible parties fully accountable to the maximum extent permitted by law.

In this instance as well, based on reports from fans and materials collected through our own monitoring, we have filed criminal complaints with investigative authorities regarding malicious posts across various platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), DC Inside, Naver, Daum Cafe, Nate Pann, Instiz, TheQoo, MLB Park, FM Korea, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. These posts have been submitted as evidence in criminal proceedings, regardless of whether they have been deleted, set to private, or whether accounts have been changed or deactivated.

We have also secured substantial evidence of activities such as the creation and dissemination of malicious rumors and false information about our artists, as well as posts that ridicule, defame, or contain sexually explicit content, along with the production and distribution of manipulated materials such as deepfakes. We will continue to pursue strict legal measures, including both criminal complaints and civil claims, without leniency.

THE BOYZ’s Eric Suffers Knee Injury During Concert + Shares Update Ahead Of Tonight’s Show

THE BOYZ’s Eric sustained a knee injury during the first night of the group’s “INTER-ZECTION” concert in Seoul.

On April 25, production company The Bright World released a statement that Eric reposted on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account.

The company explained that Eric had suffered a knee injury during THE BOYZ’s concert the previous night, and after undergoing an MRI scan, he had been diagnosed with knee cartilage damage and a partial tear of his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

As a result, Eric will be performing seated for select songs during tonight’s show.

The company’s full statement is as follows:

Hello. This is The Bright World, the production company for “THE BOYZ CONCERT .”

During the concert that was held yesterday, a situation arose in which Eric sustained a knee injury. Immediately after the end of concert, he underwent an MRI scan and received emergency treatment. Today, he returned to the hospital for a detailed interpretation of his MRI results, and he was diagnosed with knee cartilage damage and a partial tear of his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
The doctor advised him to refrain from excessive movement or dancing for the time being, as he needs plenty of rest and recovery.

Although the artist himself expressed strong determination to perform on stage for his fans, we considered the artist’s safety and long-term health our top priority, so we have decided that during today’s concert, he will perform seated for select songs.
We deeply empathize with the disappointment that may be felt by the fans who have been waiting [for this concert], and we ask for your generous understanding.

We will do our utmost to support the artist throughout his entire treatment and recovery process so that he can make a speedy recovery and safely carry out his activities.
Once again, we would like to express our gratitude to the fans who are warmly rooting for Eric’s recovery.
Thank you.

Get well soon, Eric!

&TEAM’s Agency Shares Update On Nicholas’ Health After He Sits Out Part Of Comeback Showcase

&TEAM’s agency has released a statement on Nicholas’ health.

On April 21, &TEAM held a comeback showcase for their new EP “We on Fire.” After a delay in the start of the showcase, it was announced that due to a “worsening of Nicholas’ health,” he would not be able to participate in the group’s performances and would only be on stage for part of the event.

After the showcase, YX LABELS shared the following update:

Hello.
This is YX Labels.

We are making an announcement regarding the state of &TEAM member Nicholas’ health.

Due to a sudden worsening of his health, Nicholas was unable to participate in part of “&TEAM 3rd EP SHOWCASE ‘We on Fire’” today. We ask for fans’ generous understanding.

Although the artist was strongly determined to participate in the performances, it was determined that proceeding with performing would be difficult given the state of his health at the time. Because we considered our artist’s health our top priority, we wound up limiting his participation to only part of the event.

Nicholas is currently resting, and we are continuously monitoring the progress of his recovery.
We would like to apologize for giving cause for concern to the audience members who looked forward to and attended today’s showcase. We plan to manage the artist’s schedule while considering his health our top priority.

If any changes to the artist’s future schedule should arise, we will make an announcement as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Get well soon, Nicholas!

SM Entertainment Provides Update As Deepfake Offenders Receive Prison Sentences

SM Entertainment has issued an update on its ongoing legal actions against deepfake crimes targeting its artists.

Hello, this is SM Entertainment.

We would like to provide an update on our ongoing legal actions.

Our company is currently taking strong legal measures against acts that cause serious harm to our artists, including the spread of false information, defamation, sexual harassment, deepfakes, personal attacks, insults, and invasions of privacy.

In particular, the creation, distribution, and possession of illegal fabricated obscene materials constitute not only malicious crimes that sexually humiliate and mock our artists, causing them severe distress, but also serious offenses that can lead to significant defamation and damage to their image by creating the false impression that the artist is actually involved. As such, we are actively cooperating with investigative authorities by collecting evidence and filing complaints, and we are also strongly petitioning the court for strict punishment.

As a result, most suspects involved in deepfake-related cases have been apprehended. A total of 12 individuals—including Park (sentenced to 4 years in prison, 5 years of employment restriction, and 80 hours of sexual violence treatment program), Lee (3 years and 6 months in prison, 5 years of employment restriction, and 40 hours of treatment), Go (3 years in prison, 5 years of employment restriction, and 80 hours of treatment), Lee (3 years in prison, 5 years of employment restriction, and 40 hours of treatment), Oh (2 years and 6 months in prison, 5 years of employment restriction, and 40 hours of treatment), and Cha (2 years and 6 months in prison, 5 years of employment restriction, and 80 hours of treatment), and more—have been sentenced to imprisonment under charges including violations of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (distribution of fabricated videos). While the defendants filed repeated appeals, all have been dismissed and their sentences have been finalized; they are currently serving their prison terms.

Many perpetrators of deepfake crimes attempt to evade investigation by sharing illegal fabricated obscene materials through anonymous overseas social media platforms. However, our company is working closely with multiple law firms in the United States, and through investigative tracking, these individuals are also being apprehended without exception, with related investigations currently ongoing.

As criminal penalties for the creation, distribution, and possession of deepfakes are being enforced very strictly, we urge everyone to exercise caution to avoid becoming involved in such unlawful activities.

We would also like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to platforms such as Telegram, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Discord, and DC Inside for their cooperation in these efforts.

We will continue to do our utmost to protect the rights and interests of our artists in every possible way.

Thank you.
