July Boy Group Brand Reputation Rankings Announced

The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for male idol groups!

The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community indexes of various boy groups, using big data collected from June 11 to July 11.

BTS continued their reign at the top of the list with a brand reputation index of 8,586,669 for July. High-ranking phrases in the group’s keyword analysis included “ARIRANG,” “ARMY,” and “London concert,” while their highest-ranking related terms included “collaborate,” “perform,” and “record.”

CORTIS held onto their spot at second place with a brand reputation index of 4,174,720, while Stray Kids rose to third with a score of 3,448,310.

SEVENTEEN took fourth place with a brand reputation index of 2,983,819, and BIGBANG rounded out the top five with a score of 2,593,535.

WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon Reportedly Cast In New Drama + YG Briefly Responds

WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon may be returning to the small screen for the first time in four years!

On July 1, Xportsnews reported that Kang Seung Yoon has been cast in the upcoming KBS2 weekend drama “I Went to School” (literal title).

“I Went to School” tells the story of Yoon Ok Hee, an overly involved mother who enrolls in college later in life, embarking on a new chapter as she redesigns her future. Lee Jung Eun is in talks to lead the drama as Yoon Ok Hee, with Yu Jun Sang, Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung, and Jeon Sung Woo also reportedly joining the cast.

According to the report, Kang Seung Yoon has been offered the role of Yoon Ok Hee’s son.

In response to the report, both YG Entertainment and KBS briefly stated, “We cannot confirm.”

The series will be penned by Yang Hee Seung, who wrote hit dramas including “Crash Course in Romance,” “Oh My Ghost,” “Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bok Joo,” and “A Hundred Memories.”

Kang Seung Yoon made his acting debut in 2011 through the sitcom “High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged,” before debuting as a member of WINNER. He later appeared in dramas including “Prison Playbook,” “Kairos,” and “Voice 4.” His most recent acting project was the 2022 KBS Drama Special “The Season of Undies.”

If confirmed, “I Went to School” will mark Kang Seung Yoon’s first television drama in four years.

“I Went to School” is slated to premiere in the first half of next year. Stay tuned!

May Boy Group Member Brand Reputation Rankings Announced

The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for individual boy group members!

The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, communication, and community awareness indexes of 755 boy group members, using big data collected from April 16 to May 16.

BTS’s Jimin topped this month’s list with a brand reputation index of 6,447,417. High-ranking phrases in his keyword analysis included “ARMY,” “world tour,” and “Mexico,” while his highest-ranking related terms included “flawless,” “get excited for,” and “surpass.” Jimin’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 92.97 percent positive reactions.

Wanna One’s Park Ji Hoon took second place with a brand reputation index of 5,510,360, while BTS’s Jungkook came in at a close third with a score of 5,494,822.

BTS’s Jin held onto his spot at fourth place with a brand reputation index of 3,782,172, and his bandmate V rounded out the top five for May with a score of 3,673,361.

April Boy Group Member Brand Reputation Rankings Announced

The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for individual boy group members!

The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, communication, and community awareness indexes of 755 boy group members, using big data collected from March 18 to April 18.

Wanna One’s Park Ji Hoon continued his reign at the top of the list with a brand reputation index of 14,004,945, marking a 7.77 percent increase in his score since last month.

High-ranking phrases in Park Ji Hoon’s keyword analysis included “The King’s Warden,” “RE:FLECT,” and “Bodyelse,” while his highest-ranking related terms included “return,” “release,” and “hold.” The singer-actor’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 93.51 percent positive reactions.

BTS’s Jimin also held onto his spot at second place with a brand reputation index of 11,644,101, marking a staggering 132.31 percent increase in his score since March.

BTS’s Jungkook jumped to third after seeing a whopping 227.64 percent rise in his brand reputation index, bringing his total score to 9,151,873 for the month.

BTS’s Jin took fourth place for the month with a brand reputation index of 8,755,472, marking an impressive 143.27 percent increase in his score since March.

Finally, BTS’s RM shot to fifth place after seeing a massive 512.32 percent rise in his brand reputation index, bringing his total score to 7,123,773 for April.
