“Single’s Inferno 4” Star Lee Si An Wins Legal Battle Against Former Agency

“Single’s Inferno 4” star Lee Si An has won her legal dispute against her agency.

On June 22, the Seoul Central District Court ruled in Lee Si An’s favor in a lawsuit filed by Leaders Entertainment, which had sought damages against the entertainer.

The dispute centered on a supplemental agreement signed ahead of Lee Si An’s appearance on Netflix’s “Single’s Inferno 4.” Leaders Entertainment, which had managed Lee Si An since August 2023, signed an additional agreement with her in April 2024 that extended her exclusive contract by 18 months beyond its original October 2024 expiration date.

After Lee Si An expressed her intention to end the contract, the agency filed a lawsuit in December 2024, claiming that she had failed to fulfill her contractual obligations. However, the court found that the agency had misled Lee Si An during the process of signing the extension agreement and ruled that the agreement was invalid.

The court stated, “There was no evidence that Netflix had required Lee Si An to be ‘represented by an agency with exclusive management rights’ or that ‘her contract had to remain in effect until the show’s broadcast’ as a condition for her casting on ‘Single’s Inferno 4.’” Because Lee Si An agreed to the contract extension based on those explanations, the court determined that the agreement could not be considered valid.

The court also dismissed the agency’s claim for contractual penalties, ruling that the supplemental agreement had been lawfully canceled and finding no evidence that Lee Si An had violated the terms of her original contract.

Lee Si An first gained recognition through Mnet’s “Idol School” and “Produce 48,” before rising to wider fame through her appearance on Netflix’s “Single’s Inferno 4” in early 2025.

The first half of 2026 was especially busy for Go Youn Jung. Through Netflix’s “Can This Love Be Translated?” and JTBC’s “We Are All Trying Here,” she captured viewers’ hearts across both OTT platforms and television. She also added a meaningful milestone to her career by winning two awards at the Asia Star Entertainer Awards (ASEA) 2026.

She also expressed her affection for the senior actors she collaborated with on her projects. Regarding Koo Kyo Hwan, her co-star in “We Are All Trying Here,” she remarked, “While acting together, there were many moments where it really felt like I was facing Dong Man [Koo Kyo Hwan’s character] himself.” She added, “When you watch him act, he seems incredibly free-spirited, but he is clearly grounded within. I learned a lot [from him] and was very inspired.”

Go Youn Jung also shared her thoughts on returning to film for the second season of “Moving.” “I was really happy to meet the senior actors and friends I worked with in Season 1 again,” she said. “It felt like reuniting with family after a long time, and just being together again made me feel reassured.”

From her debut project “He Is Psychometric” to “Sweet Home” and “Moving,” actress Go Youn Jung has shown a different side of herself in every work. When asked to choose her career-defining role among the characters she has played, she said, “Honestly, it’s hard to pick just one.”

“I feel like every character I’ve played so far has helped broaden my horizons a little bit,” she continued. “It wasn’t any one specific character that made me who I am today, but rather all the characters I’ve portrayed in every project I’ve been a part of until now.”

When asked how she wants to spend her 30s, she commented, “Rather than thinking I need to show a specific image, I want to keep challenging myself with new things like I do now.” She added, “I want to become an actress who doesn’t get boring, someone who can show slightly different sides in every project.”

SM Entertainment Wins Lawsuit Against Malicious YouTuber Sojang For Defamation Of EXO, Red Velvet, And aespa

SM Entertainment has released an official statement following the court’s final ruling against the malicious YouTuber Sojang.

Previously on April 22, the 14th Civil Division of the Seoul District Court ruled that the operator of Sojang infringed upon the personality rights of the members of EXO, Red Velvet, and aespa by producing and posting videos containing personal attacks. Consequently, the court ordered the channel operator to pay a total of 130 million won (approximately $88,000) in damages.

Furthermore, regarding SM Entertainment, the court ruled that the defendant’s actions effectively caused substantial disruption to the plaintiff company’s business operations and performance. Accordingly, the court ordered an additional 40 million won (approximately $27,000) in damages to SM, bringing the total compensation to 170 million won.

Read SM Entertainment’s full statement below:

Hello, this is SM Entertainment.

We would like to provide an update on the results of our legal action against the YouTube channel Sojang, which produced and distributed videos containing false information for the purpose of defaming our artists.

In April 2024, we filed a criminal complaint against the operator of the channel for defamation and insults under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. regarding EXO, Red Velvet, and aespa. Subsequently, in October of the same year, we filed a civil lawsuit against the same individual.

On January 15, 2025, the Incheon District Court ruled that the channel operator had severely infringed upon the honor and personality rights of our artists by disseminating false information and producing and posting videos containing personal attacks and derogatory expressions, thereby publicly insulting them. The court deemed these actions as crimes that significantly deviated from the scope of simple opinion expression. The operator was sentenced to two years in prison suspended for three years of probation, 120 hours of community service, and a forfeiture of approximately 211.42 million won (approximately $143,200). The operator repeatedly appealed the decision, but the original verdict was ultimately upheld.

Furthermore, on April 22, 2026, the 14th Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court ruled that the operator of Sojang infringed upon the personality rights of our artists by producing and posting videos containing personal attacks and ordered the operator to pay a total of 130 million won in damages to the artists. Additionally, the court ruled, “The videos produced and posted by the channel operator led to a decline in the image and brand value of SM artists, which are core assets of SM, thereby causing substantial disruption to SM’s business operations and performance.” Consequently, the court ordered the operator to pay an additional 40 million won in damages to our company. This brings the total ordered compensation to 170 million won.

We will continue to take strong legal action, adhering to a policy of zero tolerance, against any YouTube channels that engage in personal attacks, use insulting or derogatory language, or habitually disseminate false information in order to protect our artists. We urge you to immediately cease all current illegal activities directed toward our artists.

Thank you.
