The 2026 X Games introduced the X Games League (XGL), a new team-based format that turned individual BMX and skateboarding events into part of a season-long championship. Athletes and clubs earned points at each stop, with their results contributing to the overall standings.
The inaugural summer XGL season traveled to three global stops: Sacramento, California, Chiba, Japan, and New Orleans, Louisiana, which hosted the championship event. BMX and skateboarding formed the league competition, while Moto X continued to appear at X Games events outside the XGL points structure. The introduction of season-long standings and club competition made 2026 one of the most significant changes to the X Games format in recent history.
